I completely agree with you. I own M801S3 in rosewood, in walnut, 802s3, 803s2 in rosewood and black ash and a few 805. Matrix are the most musical and playful line B&W made. After many years of listening them, IMO the M803S2 are the winners as the midrange is more coherent and integrates better than 802 or 801.. Marantz MA9S2 and SC7S2 is a perfect match w/ Matrix.
I agree with you. IMO, the older B&W models with the Kevlar woofers up until the time of the original Nautilus 800 series, and the 600 series 3, all were much better balanced and didn't have the sucked out midrange and too bright and shrill treble that newer models all suffer from.
I own the 804 matrix in black and i like the look of this speaker compare to the new ugly fancy models as i'm also into vintage audio......my curse is that i like listening to all kinds of music from jazz, classic rock, reggae, hip hop etc and this speakers sounds great with all these genre of music
it might be a ? of amp an or cable set up & proper integration to achive the best sound ive owned b & w in the past set up.... Theres always G,R. Research!
wow, now we are talking, excellent speakers 👍🏻
