Giant Hammerhead Sharks Hunting Blacktip Sharks 2

- Опубликовано: 28 июл 2019
- Every year massive hammerhead sharks migrate to the beaches of Florida to hunt and eat 6ft blacktip sharks. The average size of these blacktip sharks is 6ft and around 80lbs. The hammerhead sharks are much larger, measuring over 14ft in length and weighing more than 1000lbs. This year I filmed some incredible drone footage of hammerhead sharks hunting and eating blacktip sharks!

Hahaha well played
Fascinating to see some of the Blacktips nearly beaching themselves because they know the Hammerhead can't follow them into the shallower bits.

That was some incredible footage. The kind of quality I would expect to see on National Geographic or a BBC special.
That's because its the same tech capturing the footage. It just doesn't seem so far from home now that it is viable for anyone to have.
The beauty of nature is at everyone's doorstep, just need to step outside and see it.
national shldve would this legit would get right up in the shark faces lmao
@@AAquese huh? Lol
@@friendlyoldbum9182 The most exciting thing i can see outside is a squirrel
@@bakedskunk2613 That sucks! I live rural with acerage. We have Kangaroos in our yard everyday. Emus randomally. All the birds you can imagine. My kids love it
00:57 imagine standing on the shore completely clueless that theres a 14ft BEHEMOTH not even 30 yards from you
absolutely see what you're saying. Terribly haunting image. Very intense to just think about that. Like imagine having no clue and you're ready to jump in but you decide to wait a couple seconds and you randomly see a huge silhouette moving some feet away from you in the water.
And then seeing that 14 ft behemot like you wrote breaking the water close to you. Gives me chills just thinking about it.😵
Ironically, the hammerheads attack zero humans per year, so you’re in no danger from the behemoth. But blacktips are responsible for many attacks. They’re one of four species responsible for almost all attacks on humans - blacktips, great whites, tigers and bull sharks. So those “tiny” blacktips are the ones to look out for. The hammerhead behemoth is your friend, attacking your enemy.
That last black tip had already given up on life.
Sometimes you have to stop running (in this case, swimming) and face your fears.
@@youngchrisbaby9009 I think he might have been better off if he kept swimming. Facing his fears didn't work so well.
Jokes aside, that one was probably gassed. If he ran from one and ran right into another, he might not have had much juice left to run.
Probably a sacrifice to save the rest of them?
@@youngchrisbaby9009 That one had been caught on a line already.
StephenWestSyd That’s not how sharks work
So close to shore you wouldn't even want to dip your toes in the water haha.
Long as you have an even tan and/or don't wear jewelry you should be fine: the flash of the bling or even the contrast from the 'tanned top/untanned bottom' will attract a blacktop
There was a person standing the water not far from that hamnerhead close to shore at beginning of the video
@William Lassiter I had one come right up behind me in 4ft of water at Honeymoon Island beach a few months ago. They're not interested in humans. Just swim and chill dude.
Which just shows you how often sharks don't attack. There's people in the water here for like 8 months out of the year and many times, sharks are within 100 ft of the waterline. They're really just not interested. I'd guess most are smallish sharks- 6 ft or under- so the people tend to be too close to their size to seem like an easy meal. Plus, there are fish around (that's usually why the sharks are there in the first place).
02:27 Blacktip: “nope!”
Man I watch your videos every now and then but I must say this one deserves hats off. The sheer control you had on that drone, not everyone can control and get footage like that. Well done, really well done.
I still don’t know why you haven’t been invited to shark week yet.

@@thomash4950 I don't blame him, his momma apparently didn't do a decent job showing him this scary world doesn't bite.. call me a sucker but I like wet blankets. Once dry they become warm blankets and there are plenty of sad/lost people who can use a warn blanket.
Wow incredible footage thank you!
Yea, props to the drone operator.
It was unbelievable seeing how big it was and how close to shore the sharks were
Wow your footage is incredible! That hammerhead really put in work to get that black tipped....crazy how some nearly beached themselves to avoid getting eaten....🔥🔥🔥
I would like a world where life forms didn't eat each other. Maybe the next life will be Utopia.
Never thought I'd be rooting for a black tip shark in my life.
I thought one of those black tips was scary when I had a encounter with one swimming out to a buoy on the beach, but damn, compared to the hammerhead they’re like minnows to a bass.
Hammerheads do not attack people. In 500 years of records there have only been 17 cases of supposed attacks by hammerheads. Blacktips, on the other hand, attack people all the time. Blacktips, great whites, tiger sharks and bull sharks are responsible for almost all shark attacks.
As a surfer/waterman of 30+ years this footage is truly captivating. Good on you for having the patience and experience to wait for something like this to unfold and share with us. 🌊✌

Amazing footage keep it up im obsessed with the blacktip migration myself. The aerial footage of the migration events is all new and so revealing. I feel that the aerial footage is truely the only way to not impact their natural behavior. Beautiful job
That footage was purely amazing, Josh! I cannot imagine seeing that or being there in 'real life'. Talk about epic. If me watching this on video is any indication of how I'd react if I'd have been there filming on the drone, I'd have been screaming out loud "watch out, blacktip... it's behind you! Swim faster... take a hard right! Get the hell out of there!" The music you chose to go with this footage was perfect too. Totally awesome video. Nature is absolutely amazing! Heather🇨🇦
I love how that guy is just standing there in the water while the hammerhead is trying to get food and the dude isn't even worried
He knows what goes on in that water this time of year
Duh its a florida man..
Well, the black tips obviously have other things to worry about ( Can't imagine a Black tip going "Oh, human ankles. I'll just ignore the 13 foot long hammer head chasing me and stop for a quick nibble." ), and if you'll watch the hammer head, it knows to stay out of the shallows that it can't operate in.
So all in all, I'd say Josh knows where the 'safe zone' is.
@@toxiweb4435 nothing to do with being a Florida man people are Aussies sharks ain't gonna attack you in 99% of situations

That was award-winning footage great job had me on the edge of my seat the whole time nature at its best. No Doubt Great Hammerheads are such amazing animals on the hunt as I have seen them firsthand in the abaco's and in the Everglades backcountry they are bossy
I got away from watching your videos a couple of years ago, and came back last night. I have to say that I'm really impressed with the improvement in your production values! I especially enjoyed this video, and the one from last year's migration. The underwater shots are great, too. I'm subscribed once again.

Wonderful real time video. Glad to see it through until the end. Great job. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks for showing a true nature video. I’m a marine biologist and I specialize in shark research. Real moments like this is what it’s all about.
I was a shrimpboat capt for 12 years. Before social media. We had 2 bullsharks every night for about 5 years, following our boat. One was 10 feet, and the other was 12 ft. And we has 6 and 8ft underneath them. Man I wish I had a camera back then to capture what we saw. We tested their agility and line of sight. Fascinating creatures

Yo that was fantastic b! Great quality of filming and soundtrack! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for posting - that was something to watch !
Welp, I'm never going back to Florida. Be a LOT easier to catch a swimmer than a black tip.
Hammerheads have been known to swim around ankles in the water in florida and sometimes bite
There's never been a confirmed attack on a human by a hammerhead other than divers, and no deaths. Just watch your toes around the babies.
Seen 10’ plus hammers of of the fort Walton pier 2 separate times with Bamba floaters less than 8’ away they never knew sharks where there
@No Quarter So you are all good swimming with Great Whites then? Come to Australia, I'm sure the Great Whites would love you. Grey Nurses and Mako's also like to 'play'.
Dont worry..hammer head are not aggressive.
Watch for bull sharks..those are towards swimmers..no joke.
Did I accidentally click the discovery channel?

That first hammer expended A LOT of energy with no payoff.
Yea, fooken idiot. I can spend my whole day watching youtube and still get a mean feed.
Like watching lions or cheetahs fail at catching gazelle
@@markogdon5746 Yes...the hammer didn't seem as 'focused' as a cheetah or a lion; it seemed to swipe at every blacktip it went by.
@@filthydisgustingape5354 lucky for the black tips. And I don't know if it was dumb luck or if the black tips actually know something but swimming into the shallow end of the beach was smart the only downfall is you eventually have to leave. that same tactic it doesn't work so well for seals trying to escape killer whales. Nature never ceases to amaze me
