You need to be sending a native 240p signal to the screen to get the scanline effect produced as part of the display output, otherwise you’ll need to add the scanlines as a post-process (using the Mister or a OSSC or similar)
Have you tried running a super resolution and retroarch for 240p like doublestrike? I originally thought you were pulling that off with a mister. It sounded like you were missing those scan lines on that thing. That trick I described works in linux and windows. Crt switchres is what you want.
I do it all on a one rtx 2080. With a startech displayport male to vga female So it's not as dependent on ati/amd hardware. No more remembering the pixels count of games either. As long as you have the resolutions like 2560x 240@120hz 2560x 224@120hz and 2560 x 480 @60 set in your Nvidia driver you can go in-between snes Genesis ps1 saturn csp2 and more with proper resolution switching. One more thing, people say the motion isn't consistent as a bvm or pvm so to anyone seeing this, make sure you do if with a free/cheap monitor as thats the whole point of this project. This has something to do with running 60hz games at 120hz. To me it's not noticeable but I thought I should throw it out there before people think they're getting a 1:1 pvm alternative. And buy out all these nice pc displays like they did with pvm and bvm. I believe the glory days for the professional monitors is gone, so this is our next best thing other than running a 15khz crt tv. It's a damn good one though.
Thanks Robby, I haven’t tried that and I have sort of loaded up Retroarch on a pc in the past but typically don’t use software emulation but could revisit again.
@@robbystrange4772 Yes, while I plan to connect this to BVM or a PVM in another video to try it out. I will also try a CRT TV, and another PC VGA display.
This is not how you do it, you don't use the scaler when running to VGA, you use direct video (you also need hdmi limited set to 2) with the scandoubler, this allows to run at 480p (and keep native scanlines) and keep the original aspect ratio.
Thanks Matt, I didn’t have a direct HDMi to vga on hand, or other accessories on hand to pull out the audio. I actually don’t consider that box a scaler. More like a powered converter. enjoygadgets.com/collections/converters/products/enjoygadgets-hdmi-to-vga-component-ypbpr-converter-2019-v2-720p-w-audio-s-pdif-pthvr-v2
I use a 17" pc monitor and it looks stunning with a adjustable external scanline generator and custom scaling, the games running at 60 refresh that has to match your 60 refresh monitor. Its do smooth scaling, its gives a soapboper smooth effect with 0 lag,no jitters, ghosting, jail bars so on.alk my emulators run smooth. If matched.the nes is phenomenal on there 60 frames and it dos not speed up game play it just adds insane fluid animation and scrolling. I do not use any external scalling just an external scanline gen.It has software scalling. Thank you!
I have a Sony Trinitron 32" and been wanting to try my MiSTer on it. I just need to buy VGA to RCA or S-Video. I'm pretty sure it'll look sweet .
You should!

I’m not quite there with the new video cards, I still haven’t bothered to upgrade my GTX Titan lol.

@ Mathieu If I want to run my MiSTer to my Sony CRT TV do I need to buy the one you recommended or can I buy VGA input to RCA or S-Video output box?
@@retroforce6919 I personally use RGB SCART. I don't think Mister can do native s-video or RCA output so you would need to convert RGBS to it

I have hdmi to vga adapter but it doesn’t sync. What settings are likely wrong on the mister?
