    I'm glad postpartum depression is getting attention but I want postpartum anxiety to get some too! Its dibiliating in a different way, I didnt put my daughter down for 8 months. I ate, bathed, slept while holding her. I went nowhere without her and I had these panic attacks about terrible things that could hurt her... it was terrible and i wasted precious time being terrified instead of enjoying my baby

      Getting help is crucial, social services won’t take your child from you unless you was a detriment to your child’s safety and welfare. It’s usually the last resort.
      Guys if you tell your doctors they’ll give you help you need, postpartum mental health is a VERY serious thing. They will provide you with support such as counselling or direct you to a mom and baby group. Tell your midwives, health visitors about how you’re feeling they can help.

      @brithegoddess 5 лет назад +12

      I never really brought it up because I never felt it would be acknowledged in my family. We have a history of mental illness, so when you mention something it's kinda like, "Well you haven't been diagnosed or it's nothing like what I or my sister or your uncle went through so really there's nothing wrong w/ you you just got the blues."
      Like my people trivialize it so I just end up feeling like I deserve no sympathy when I have a mental problem and I keep it to myself.
      Being black mental illness is either looked down upon or swept under the rug. Like it's a taboo. You gotta be strong. Like it's unacceptable to be so unstable you can't function. Cuz if you are you are everything negative instead of simply suffering from an actual illness.
      So sorry to rant but it's such a mess, it's sad.

      I love babies as much as the next person, and probably also would have thought that it was cool (and weird) that a friend brought their baby sibling to a hangout, but let's be realistic. Zoey's probably going to a party where there could be underage drinking-- because tv thinks that's how all parties with high schoolers as and college students are like--and that would put the baby in potential danger. There's a good chance that CYF would be called, and the family would be investigated

Long story short I didn’t know I was pregnant and when I had emergency surgery to remove my tube , I lost control of my emotions. I was recovering in my house and I would just cry and cry for the first 3 days - a heartfelt sadness it was everything, the loss but I just couldn’t get over it fast forward to the second week and I was fine - I think it was my my loss , the hormones, the trauma from surgery, the anesthesia but, I think that is how Postpartum depression feels. It is no joke.

I know having kids and babies on set is hard and unpredictable, but it doesn't seem like anyone but Junior has meaningful interaction with the baby. I really liked Blackish. There are hardly any black family comedies on so it was nice... And they did bring attention to alot of issues (like this episode about post partum) BUT in many of the episodes, including this one, they portray the black father as a bad, non factor parent. In fact, they even say it.. That he's useless and inept. In many episodes, he's straight up terrible to his children (especially Junior) and although I realize it's done for "comedic effect" I still think like damn, we have almost no shows or movies where they show a intact black family unit and they still try to paint the father in the worst light. This show tried so hard to step outside stereotypes but ended up stepping in them more often then not while even trying to actively avoid it.

    • @bw7826
      @bw7826 4 года назад

      @Huncho Escobar Its the same concept as with animals who kill their young. Depression like with PPD numbs you. It can hit a woman in different level, foesnt matter at the moment what's right and wrong, the woman might be pushed to the bbn point where she feels that killing the child will be the right thing to do. As the show illuminates, pod numbs you. You feel nothing for nobody. This is what feeling nothing can do to you and those around you. Some women kill their child, and when they realize realize th they did when they bounce back, they are devastated over what they did.
      This is the same concept for men who come back from war and kill their spouse. The body and morals of a person is glassed over and people will do things that they would never do, what is viewed as "right" and "wrong" isnt applied to a person who feels basically dead inside.

    Jesus loves you all ❤️ John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son that whoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life”
    Jesus loves you and he stands at the door of your life and knocks. Will you invite him in ? He loves you so much! the first step is simply talking to him and believing in him
