@@roaddog7080 lol great, another addition for my fiancé to not like. Whenever I get an new addition/ hobby she says I don’t spend much time with her lol
great tutorial! when it comes to adding cordage to the pouch part, I just fold one long piece instead of adding 2 separate smaller pieces from that spot. maintain structural integrity and no need to melt anything at that point. let me know whatcha think of that :)
Awesome, thanks! I also looked up tutorials when I was trying to figure out how to make this and I didn't find any, so my goal was to figure it out then make a tutorial. Super happy that it's being used!
@03:48 - instead of adding TWO strings... add ONE STRING of double-length, but FOLDED at the center and you can BRAID-IT-IN - intertwined at the fold - without the NEED to tape it and then cut and burn the ends... GOOD VIDEO!
Ah had not seen that you had also done a tutorial. Will be using this for reference as well. I already started my pouch somewhat with just a "stopper knot" and then immediately starting the pouches by adding string there (so less string and no successive increase in thickness). May have to redo it now... Or just use this for reference for the next time. Another good video. 👍
Thanks for the video! I am going to make this one tomorrow. I have never made a braided split pouch before. I have just used my single strand of cord with a leather pouch. Do these throw much nicer? Any changes you would make? Also, is the 2 finger loop better than the single? I have only used a single loop before.
That's great, goof luck making it! I don't know if they throw any better than other sling designs but I've been using them for the past few years and they hold up great. They're fun to make as well, try it out and see what you think
@Road Dawg is this a round braid? I've got the Matthew walkers down, I'm now struggling to understand the braid I've only ever braided flat and not many times. It's seems so from the video but perspective wise a bit difficult. I did move down the 1.5 or so from the first knot fir the loops and placed another matthew walker, I'm using 550 cord, and it's definitely on the stiff side! I really like how the Matthew walker knots turned out, I'm not familiar with a lot of knots, so learning it was definitely interesting to say the least!
This is a great tutorial I like your design the best. However you didn't really explain when to switch over from the 4 strand round braid to the 6 on the down cord. I had to do quite a bit of guesswork to try to figure out how you did it.
sorry! I'm really happy your figured it out. during covid I spent forever trying to replicate practical paracord's design and this is what I ended up with. Once you understand the fundamentals of braids and knots you can make many things
On the previous tutorial, you made a second knot on the fingerloop end to supposedly make the sling spin better. Have you actually noticed any difference in how a sling behaves with and without the knot?
Good question, I don't think it makes a noticeable difference. I think that since slings are such simple devices that those minor details don't change much
I hope you dont mind this suggestion. But this would be a perfect tutorial to follow if the camera angle was filming from your perspective (like over your shoulder view), or at least from above. This makes it so easy for someone (like me lol) with no experience, to follow you move for move. Sometimes the side angle views and changing camera angles makes it quite difficult to keep track of what goes where. I hope you will consider redoing this tutorial with the better viewing angles. As your actual sling design utilising paracord is one of the best ive seen and exactly what ive been searching for. All other sling making tutorials using paracord just use a single strand of paracord for the arms (not sure if thats a correct term). So the sling doesn't seem very strong, or at least like it wouldn't last as long as your design. The finished sling you created is a great piece of craftmanship and looks like it would stand many years of slinging. Love it
Thanks for the feedback, that would be a great idea, some of the really good paracord craft guys on RUclips do it like that. There's a lot of moving parts in this design so it would definitely help. Not sure if I'll have time do one one any time soon but keep perservereing to make this sling! it doesn't have to be exactly like mine to work, I figured it out by playing around with like 10 different designs during covid to try and replicate practical paracord's slings.
@@roaddog7080 Thanks for reply. Ye no rush on the video if you find the time. I’ll have to wait for it though as I don’t know the first thing about this Paracord weaving, so I would literally be following you as you do it lol. Soo can’t even play around, other than creating something with one single strand. I’d much rather have a robust woven design like you’ve done.
The accuracy is definitely not the best and take a lot of Honing skill, but Hey the great thing about the sling is it can throw anything from cookies & tshirts to a molotov and granade, yet you easily can bring it on a plane or anywhere imaginable.
@@uselessbraincells3557 Yeah, in a plane I'd go with a shorter one, and you'll have to shoot straight overhand, no helicopter. Not enough space to swing it.
@@roaddog7080 WELL worth the wait. Shame it didn't record when you started making the tie in to the split pouch but figured it out when you tied in the other end. The finger grips was a GREAT surprise added bonus.
Just found your channel searching for sling making tutorials but stayed for your awesome sling practice videos. Cheers!
Thanks!

Awesome, it's not too tricky when you put your mind to it and they look really cool
How far down do you braid before starting the pocket?! No one mentions this in any of these videos!
I usually make the braid about 30 inches and add in the 2 extra strands about 3 inches before the pouch starts. its however long you want to make it
@@roaddog7080 thanks brother I appreciate it! That’s the only part that has stumped me this far lol

Txs nice video. Your paracord you use you said 200 inches of the black and camo..........200 inches of each or 200 inches together ? Preciate
I think I meant 200 each, it's not exact but you'll get a feel for it once you make one

@Jehevhdeh I got it, it took me sometime but I got it!
@ nice how long did you do for the 2 strands you added
@Jehevhdeh I wanted a small pouch so I think around 3 to 4 inches

Where do you start the pouch???
How long Are the strings you added?(the 2 after the initial braid)
@Jehevhdeh I’ll usually make them about 3-4 feet, there’s usually more than enough with that length. Good luck! sorry for the slow response

How many inches did you braid down before adding the 2 strands?
26"
When tying the knots, do both cords need to be perfectly folded in half?
Yeah I think it's best to have equal lengths of all strands from the start so you don't run out of cord
@@roaddog7080 Ah, ok thanks
Nice tutorial!
Which paracord diameter did you use for this one?
I think its the 550 stuff, but it should work with whatever you can find!
Great tutorial, may I ask how long those two strands are that were split in for the pouchweave?
Thanks, the two strands for the pouch were much shorter than the braiding strands, I think about 10 feet long

if I'm not mistaken, are you using 550 paracord?
Wonderfull sling
Whatever you do use the lightest weight material
I just use normal paracord, haven't experimented much with other materials

Not too sure, but I think whatever kind you practice most with will be the most accurate for you.
