I grew up listening to the Statler Bros since i was a small child - even watch them on the johnny cash show! Now that I'm in my early 60's - the loss of Harold (who was my favorite!) makes my heart saddened, but i remember that I'll see him & Lew in heaven!❤
On this day in 1985 {July 7th} the Statler Brothers' covered version of "Hello Mary Lou" peaked at #3* {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... "Hello Mary Lou" was proceeded and succeeded by #1 records by the Brothers; "My Only Love" in March of 1985 and "Too Much On My Heart" in November of 1985... * The week "Hello Mary Lou" was a #3, the #2 record was "Dixie Road" by Lee Greenwood and at #1 was "Forgiving Her Was Easy" by Willie Nelson...
He had a half a step on Melvin actually, Harlod had a Ab1-G1 and Melvin had a B1-Bb. keep in mind that’s just what they showed because they could hit them reliably if not frequently. For example Big Chief had an Eb1 but never recorded Lower then G1 because he couldn’t do it every night and felt like he wouldn’t be giving the people their moneys worth if he couldn’t sing something the way he recorded it.
I remember being a kid and hearing the bass singer and imagining him being a big scary guy. Now I’m an adult and hit those notes easily but I’m a fairly scrawny guy and the last person you’d imagine singing it.
Anyone in 2024😂
More than you think brother! I love this music!!!
Absolutely ❤
Absolutely!
9 July 2024. 👍👍🫡🙏🏼
The bass is a legend
He sure is
I love Harold, but if you want to see awesome bass singers, check out Tim Riley and Jeff Chapman
@@mreddiemush It's not a contest.

I do, even though Stonewall Jackson was given props in their final song in concert! DAMN!
Beat this, modern music! Cain't be done!
Amen Brother! These new so called country music singers couldn't even come close.
Love The Statler Brothers,#1 all time.....
Great version of this song. Can anyone else imagine what would've happened if these guys were joined by Ricky Nelson here?
They had the tightest harmonies of any group before or since. I miss when THIS was what country music was about vs what they call country today.
Have you never heard of the Mills Brothers?
Absolutely 💯 right!! This is Country music 🥰
my dad used to play this in the car like 7 years ago and i finally found them all😭
bass guy!
Heavy heart here, Harold passed last night.

I have always loved those guys. I sat in a hotel cafe when I was 16 yrs old and had a bible study with them in Indianapolis and it was great.
That's amazing!
Enjoying this in 2022. !!! ❤️
Boy that guy with the deep voice is something!... 👍
Harold's voice was almost as deep as Melvin of The Temptations

I swear I seen all four of these guys selling used cars before
LMAO!
Let's just be happy that they chose to be musicians, and not car salesmen.
I'd buy anything from Harold😁 Rest his soul, he was a good one. ❤
Freddie Mercury
I didn't like those strings in the background or the half-time feel. I love the voices of the Statler Brothers, though.
