  • In this video captain C.A. Richardson will be talking to you about Flurocarbon Leader and how it can help with more fish catches. You're going to notice in this video there's a pretty nice size fish that's lost due to not having the right leader tied on. Let's just say that should only happen once or twice before you make a change which is exactly what C.A. Richardson did. Please let us know your thoughts on this topic in the comments below, we want to know how many of you really use Flurocarbon Leader.

I started using Fluoro leaders to braid in 2008. All of the tournament guys thought I was insane for that.

Love the FG knot. Pain to tie on the water but has never failed me.

I tie the FG at Home and a GT in the boat if needed. I'm convinced the Albright deteriorates the more you cast. The FG really is an amazing knot.

East coast FL, 30lb liter to a 20lb mainline joined with an FG knot (year-round) floro has absolutely zero abrasion resistance so we don't use that here

Looks like a smooth not to travel through the guides, but I mainly surf fish an I have the FG imbedded into my brain, unless I’m on a boat then my knot will change. Awesome content great info

I use to use this knot as its easier to tie, until I found the FG seems to exit the Guides better while casting those extended leaders. Some of my Bait casting rods have very small guides so when your trying to send that doubled back 40lb clipped tag end through those small guides in a cast, it seems to me that that little tiny nub of 40lb leader bumps ever guide on the way out. The FG knot seems to flow smoother through those small guides. Just some of my personal experiences with rods that have small guides. Thanks for keeping the Great content going CA!!

Awesome 👏. I find myself tying fg knot when I rig at home . And when I’m in need of quick leader swap on boat , I go to same improved Alberto or Albright which ever it’s called . . I will add that if I’m using very light 20 lb leader and below, I’ll skip FG and use this one as I’m afraid to tug on light leader good enough to lock the fg properly .

I use FG too. After it’s tight, it’s basically no bigger than the leader.

Not sure if I missed the video, can you show your bait caster setup? Are you using a leader on that as well, I just use straight braid and haven't had any issues. I fish Jax Florida so lots of dirty water

I fish small mouth in the st Lawrence River (NY) this is the knot I tie for all my braid to fluoro spinning rods. It rarely fails me even when I have to break off a lure it still holds.

Yeah man! I've been tying this one for a few years (usually 10 lb. braid and 14-20 lb. flouro). That was a pretty good tutorial. I get my other fingers involved so I'm only using my mouth for the ol' lubricant. Lol. On that last good cinch I put a glove on! These hands aren't as grizzly as they used to be!
Side note: That wall of ZMan...just ridiculous! You turned me on to it years ago and it's about the ONLY soft plastic I employ these days. The 4" paddlerz are deadly on the big three for me around here (WB, NC).
When novices ask me what kind of videos/tv they can soak up I refer them to you without hesitation. Long time fan, sir. Thanks and keep up the great work. ✌️

C.A. I got a question for you about your Stowmaster. What Size do you use? is that the SS72NG or is it the SS84S? How long do the usually hold up for you running charters? Thanks Buddy
