    I drove to Calgary from BC yesterday, my first ever in Alberta. I’m struck by how vast and green the countryside is here around Calgary, it must be a ranchers dream.

    Beautiful cattle and so healthy. Really enjoyed this video. The bull you said one of the bulls didn't make it looked as though he has a poorly hip. Once the cow or bulls hip goes or is injured there is little that can be done. Hip problems are so different to foot rot or infection.

    • @AlbertaRanch
      @AlbertaRanch  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, it was hips or spine, he would limp on the right leg one day and the left leg the next day. The cow healed up and was fine. Thanks for watching.

      It was a chronic condition in his hip. Unfortunately there was no treatment that helped.

    "21 out of 25"??? I want 25 out of 25.
    Bulls have gotten lazy over the years we used to get 40 out of 40 and have a 60 to 80 day calving season.
    Now it seems we do good to get 30 out of 35.. and calving season lasts 5 months.
    Always a good day when the boys go out!
    We've cut hay, washed equipment and cars.. still can't get a drop of rain 🙄

    Why are you two cattle limping? You are the first channel that i watch that didn't address the reason or make any kind of attempt to treat them.

    • @AlbertaRanch
      @AlbertaRanch  Год назад +1

      I address them by inspecting the foot on the limpy side for any swelling or smell that would indicate an infection. Commonly called foot rot. If no such issue is there with the foot then we know they have slipped and pulled a muscle or ligament. The cure for that is time. I know this as I have been diagnosing these types of issues for 45 years. I do appreciate your concern for the cattle. I always remind myself what's best for the cattle is also what's best for the rancher.

      @@AlbertaRanch i agree it was how interpreted what was said. I to been raised with cattle and other live stoke. If expained to insure non experience or city oriented people. Limping could have been explain and your practices. I do miss the cattle now that I and retired from the farm. I do love watching a Canadian channel. I haven't found to many that are worth watching.
