Thanks for checking us out. One of our employees owns this Mustang. It has over 330,000 miles on the original 4 cyl! and she's still going strong.
@blockstarr1 The rubber gasket around the fuel tank filler neck is usually called a grommet. The rubber gaskets fro the sending units are called O-Rings.
Dude I'm glad that you placed these out there I'm about to restore my 1986 Capri sole owner bought it with 33 miles on it. Been sitting for 7 years so going to be doing a lot of things first one is want to make sure the motor still runs good but my fuel tank has rusted so I'm replacing that and the sending unit. then hitting the engine. It does run when fuel applied directly.
Anyway thank you again.
How did it turn out? I’m also replacing my fuel tank because it’s rusted lol
You may want to check the fuses, there may also be a inertia switch somewhere that may need to be reset. You may also want to check the relays going to the fuel pump.
@nseoi You could do dynamat. Using 2 layers of roofing felt with a thin layer of roof tar between is a budget way to go that does the job as well.
Thanks for posting this. This is very helpful. I just bought a new tank for my Mustang and this will help! God bless
Not to my knowledge. You may want to take another look at the lines to see if they are connected the right way, or possibly replace the fuel filter to see if it helps at all.
@nseoi I'd call them sound deadener or an insulator.
@cz619 It might take you about 3-4 hours.
Nice video. Covers the procedure pretty well. I'm a bit more meticulous. I clean all tank parts before swapping them to another tank. Was the new tank at least wiped down on the exterior with lubricant or something? The rust from the underside of the car will just spread to that tank, too. Would've been nice to take a grinder/sander to that underside of the Mustang. sad to see a nice LX coupe body rotting like that.
Also check the inertia switch.
but can you buy those sound deadeners from a store ready to go or do you need to buy like DynaMat and custom cut it?
what is the name of the rubber sheets that go on the top of the tank? i know they prevent vibration against the body. i cannot find them anywhere new. thanks
I need help finding the hoses that connect to the gas tank for a 2000 mustang gt one of the hoses is a purge valve
@1aauto when replacing a fuel pump do u have to replace the sending unit aswell or ???
I acidentaly disconected both fuel lines from the pump and now i dont know witch one goes where, how do i figure witch one goes where?
No, but you should replace the sock filter on the bottom of the sending unit!
While you're at it also install a new filler neck gasket (the one on the tank). They tend to leak and dry out with age. Just an added tip while you already have it out of the car. We carry them on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393.
I have a 99 mustang and the sending unit on mine is a bit different. I was just curious if you know how to remove it.
+Ron Riley Thank you for watching. Unfortunately, we do not have a video for your application. We will keep this in mind for future repairs. www.1AAuto.com?RUclips&CTA%20Comment& 866-403-3393

I just replaced my fuel pump with a brand new one but it doesn't get any power have any ideas?
That car has a lot of rust! 🇨🇦
Hi why my tank dont want to fill up just 3 $. No more thanks
+leon var You may want to see if the fuel filler neck has a kink in it. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
