That’s what I never understand. Collecting just to do it I guess. Personally I don’t see the point not playing something that’s meant to be played and enjoyed.
There’s no way this guy is coming up short, these kinds of records sell in the many hundreds, some in the thousands, he likely bought them for 30 bucks or so. He’s ok. And we don’t know he didn’t enjoy them, perhaps he had his own copies he played and kept the others for posterity. It’s not what I’d choose to do, but I value people like this as it means I have a chance of owning these gems still in mint condition decades later.
If you're going to buy something just to sell it at a higher price later you might as well just buy Bitcoin, it's a lot lighter to move and takes up no shelf space
There seem to be two different hobbies: listening to records and collecting records. Most of us are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum and this guy seems like more of a collector. I appreciate these people, but I think it’s best to lean hard towards the listener end of the spectrum.
Most big collectors I know buy more than one copy. Open one, put the others back. Buddy of mine liked the SRV box set and bought 4 copies. Because he could.
There is an easy way around that as I have lived in NH and worked in MA for years in the past. Ask your payrol manager or HR to mark your home in NH as your home office. Simple fix
Rare audiophile records is a small market and probably a good investment to make profit but many music lovers play their records and don't care about these pressings because these records are reissues and not the original ones. Japanese pressings are nice but the sound often lacks bass. Anyway, there's something for everyone.
Chad's got fish hooks in his pockets when he makes a cash offer to collectors. This nitwit collected all this crap and basically used most of them as paperweights.
Unfortunately the collectors world is full of obsessive compulsive types who are just in it for the sake of collecting. This guy seemed to be one of them.
I thought so too when cds first came out, and then I heard the Police Synchronicity . That one crappy cd ended that debate for me. Also Zeppelins houses of the holy first cd pressing, you can hear the edits it’s awful .
Sound different yes, better probably not. People that have never heard a high end vinyl setup, only cheap or average systems and dirty records somehow just can't fathom that on a lot of recordings, vinyl is superior.
@@moodlefyful So you're one of the insuffering, suffer able fools? I imagine my digital setup would trounce yours, as I'm a fan of easily accessing 24/192 files to fill time or check out new titles. Very sad seeing all that wonderful records still sealed... the owner never enjoyed them and I'm sure now he's losing money. Play your records!!!

Don't kid yourself, these guys pay pennies on the dollar for this stuff.

Chad I'm impressed with your new collection. Awesome original records.
Congratulations, Chad. Amazing purchase.

Nice haul! 😉
awesome collection
You got the best job Johnathan, nice one mate !
Thanks for the peek man✌️
any Jazz SACDs in that collection for sale?
Nice collection from my home state!
I grew up in your home state but moved to NH to get away from the taxes!!!
@@Vinylfromtheunderground I love NH, but I can't make even close to the money that I make now in Boston. NH is definitely on my list for retirement.
You just live in NH and work in MA or better yet, live in NH and work from home :) there are so many home based jobs that are paying well these days

Not a lot of classical there, except for the Super Analogue & Classic reissues.
Wow.. I wonder what a collection like that wholesales for as Chad has to make a profit ? I assume it will be about 20% of listed price ?
I’m sure Chad probably pays half of the eventual list price, when buying in bulk.

Stacking record boxes will ruin the covers of the records underneath.
Sadly, i get a vibe the owner has passed on.
All of these sealed gems were right in my state. Treated like an investment but I'm sure they lost money in the end.
But do you have Trout Mask Replica?
No, no you don't
We did have it, but I bought it a few years ago. The 2018 third man “fish scale fruitcake” edition. It sets nicely with my Shaggs LP.

🤣 nah you've gotta get the OG UK on the Straight label, get rid of that Turd Man reissue dude.
Nice pairing with the Shaggs ☺️👌

Guaranteed that cd versions of these albums would sound better, take up less storage space and cost cheaper.
