My grandfather is a WW2 Veteran
My father was, and still is, a WWII veteran. Present during the Liberation of the Philippines. May he Rest in Peace. 💙🙏

My grandfather was assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Pointe du Hoc on D-Day. It was his fifth amphibious landing of the war having landed in North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio before being sent to England to lend his experience in combat to Operation Overlord. Of the men in his squad, only 4 survived the day. My father and I visited there last year, and those cliffs are something to behold. The sheer amount of guts that it took to scale those cliffs in the face of unrelenting machine gun fire is something I can't even fathom. Thank President Biden for a wonderful tribute and an excellent speech.
If it was Trump giving the speech he would say those who died were fools to caught and be killed. We owe a lot to that generation of your grandfather. If find it disheartening what I see what is happening in the USA....mass shootings, hatred , violence and the divisiveness in the politics.....like Charlie Sheen said at the end of the movie Platoon, we weren't fighting against the enemy, we were fighting against ourselves.

The servicemen and women of this period and those who fought for our freedom were heroes. They inspired me to serve as well. Anyone who is proud to say they are a draft dodger and call our fallen war heroes losers should have never been a president and shouldn't ever be president again. My town does a dinner for Veterans on Veterans Day. We have one German soldier amoung us that was drafted when he was 16. He’s 96 & is invited to the Veterans dinners but he doesn’t go & says he’s the enemy. He wasn’t the enemy in spirit & knew what he was fighting for wasn’t right but to me he’s a war hero fighting for his country even though he knew it was wrong.
