As a native Canadian, I love that you were there to witness our culture. The first dancer in yellow is a Fancy Dancer, they are incredible, move super fast, i don't know how they can dance so fast without passing out. The next two dancers were Chicken Dancers, not traditionally old dancing style but still fun to watch. The next one who is holding hands with the people is a Grass Dancer, traditionally these dancers begin ceremonial tradition for such things as pow-wow's, it starts with them. Lastly, when everyone is holding hands dancing in a circle, its called a round dance, traditionally it's a way of bringing people together from different tribes and cultures. When dancing, the people follow the path of the sun. I'm so happy you included this in your video, enjoy your time visiting our great country. Hiy-Hiy Kinanâskomitin (Thank You)
The highest compliment I can give you two is that your series made me proud to be Canadian. Stumbled on your RUclips channel by chance and can’t wait for your next adventure.
True. Thankfully poutine isn't some fancy dish. It's simple enough to make tasty in a variety of ways. Just need the basics: tasty gravy, fresh curds, fries that can take the moisture.
@@sweetpixiesmile Agreed, the celebrations are similar in many ways; its just the reason that is different. It is also important to say that as in the US; celebrations are not the same across either country.
Yeah funny eh? When I heard it I cringed a little. We are in fact not independent in a sense as we are a commonwealth state. But a good comparison for Americans I guess 😊

Great episode. As a Canadian, thank you for the way you approached Canada Day. You were enthusiastic and eager to celebrate almost as one of us - temporary citizens. Don't miss Takakkaw Falls in Yoho....You'll have some fun driving the mountain switch-back section in your van, but it's well worth the trip...You saw the sign on your way to Kicking Horse camp....I'd hit the gondola lift overlooking Banff also...!

Love that you were in Canada on Canada Day 🎉. I was at Banff only once, I live in Ontario, and I was with a friend so we only had one day. You have seen so much more than I. Mi plan to return and explore within the next 2 years. You really need to go East also to NewBrunswick and Nova Scotia, another beautiful are to explore and hike. And Vancouver Island is wonderful with ocean, largest trees, mountains and if you ever go try to get to Butchard Gardens and Salt Spring Island while there. Thanks for visiting and for your videos. I’m on Manitoulin Island visiting with a friend right now 😊.
I would have thought that all of those black bean tacos would have prepared you for the aroma of the hot springs😉 I visited a hot spring in northern B.C. once that was an actual stream with a natural bottom (Liard Hot Springs). It smelled the same and the further you went upstream the hotter it got until there was a point where it was just too hot to go any further.
Welcome to Canada! Thank God you went to real poutine place. Canada Day is holiday celebrating creation of Dominion of Canada, we gained full independence from British parliament way later.

Thanks! Really enjoying your views of Banff. Not used to "hiking" with side walks and handrails but it is very accessible and the waterfalls are gorgeous. Almost as pretty as Alaska ... very similar in many ways.
The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks is forecasting a solar storm this week that could produce dazzling Northern Light across 17 states. On Thursday, aurora activity could be seen in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Indiana, Maine, and Maryland.
You both seem so nice. I'm very happy you are enjoying our wonderful/beautiful country, and also got to experience our 156th Canada day. Orginally called Dominion day. Here is a simplified explanation. It celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the British North America Act, when the three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single dominion within the British Empire called Canada. That was the official start of Canada, but what was considered (officially) Canada back than then was alot smaller then today, and we weren't 100% independent yet. However Canada kept growing in size and independence over the years but wasn't officially independent from Britain until 1982 when Canada adopted its own constitution. That same year a bill was passed by the Canadian government renaming Dominion Day as Canada Day.
As a native Canadian, I love that you were there to witness our culture. The first dancer in yellow is a Fancy Dancer, they are incredible, move super fast, i don't know how they can dance so fast without passing out. The best poutine in Canada is in Quebec, hands down...!!! It originated there....
But I’m sure it was still a lot better than McDonald’s.
True. Thankfully poutine isn't some fancy dish. It's simple enough to make tasty in a variety of ways. Just need the basics: tasty gravy, fresh curds, fries that can take the moisture.
Go to Lake Louise and hike up to the tea room and visit the ice fields. Jasper and ride the Gondola. Then head to B.C.
Canadians don't consider it as our Independence Day. It is the day that the modern country of Canada was born; thus it is more like our Birthday.
I think they are comparing it so that American viewers will have an understanding of what Canada Day is.
@@sweetpixiesmile Agreed, the celebrations are similar in many ways; its just the reason that is different. It is also important to say that as in the US; celebrations are not the same across either country.

You are in my backyard. Glad you are loving it. We are very fortunate to live where we do!

The Canadian trifecta right there.... Canada Day, In Banff, Eating Poutine. Trips over. :P
Hope you got a chance to meet a symbol of our country on Canada Day, a Mountie in full dress uniform 😊
Very nice photography!
