I see this argument in paintball as well, myself coming over to airsoft from that. Just as many for red dots as there are against. Everyones got their own methods, theories, and philosophies that help them with their game.
For myself, I figure it comes down to the effective range of the airsoft gun, meaning how far can it hit its target reliably, and what tools and tactics you find helpful.

Red Dot all the way. When there is a top rail, I put a Dot on it, no matter if a rifle, pistol or shotgun. It also helps a lot when you get older. It's also quicker to aim and easier to shoot longer ranges.

I've been wondering lately, when you load your mags do you count all of the 30 bb's one by one or you have some kind of modifications done to your mags (including mid/low-cap syndrome)?
