I know a guy who runs the Death Valley Triathlon/Marathon and he needs special shoes to run so his soles don't melt. That is hot. Steve, keep up the excellent work and sharing your vids with us. I think you and Ted Cook are the best!
Years ago, a guy told me that in the Air Force in Colorado, where he worked on aircraft that the pavement would get so hot that they would have to keep their tools in a bucket of water so they could even touch them. He also said that they would place the sun reflectors on the OUTSIDE of their windshields pinned by the wipers for the best result. (Once the sun goes through the glass and gets into the interior---it is too late.)
The nest like every thermostat is a few micro relays that said applied voltage back to furnace terminals and or contactor at outdoor unit. I heard this theory that voltage fluctuates. I hooked up a fluke with data logging. Provided 28 volts to contactor +/- .20 volts at on cycle and no voltage during off cycle. It’s an old wife’s tale told by older techs that don’t like new technologies. Same guys that don’t want to upgrade to digital gauges. They even tell the new techs this bs and the newer techs repeat it to sound cool. No truth. Nest is awesome. I’m a Nest Pro installer and had issues with a few of the hundreds I installed . Probably less failure rate than Honeywell and White Rodgers. I do like the Ecobee better though.
Steven: Do you check capacitance of new capacitors prior to installation? If you do? should capacitors read exact 35/5? or is ok to install a new capacitor at low end of +/- 6%? Thanks in advance for feedback
@@weavercattleco Thanks, got you So during yearly preventive maintenance: Change the capacitor only if it fails below specified tolerance of 6%? Or if it is working don't touch it, until condenser doesn't start? Trying to be predictive and not reactive. I greatly appreciate your feedback
I know about the heat and humidity. Down here in the south we are having heat warnings with actual air temps above 105 and heat indexes around 115. It's terrible.
This heat wave has been crazy! It's been over 110 every day for a month in Phoenix, with several 119 degree days. Thankfully the humidity isn't so bad here, around 15-18% most days.
I bought an A/C dehumidifier combo replacement. I can run it at 76-77 degrees and it feels great. Old system you'd run at 72 to get the muggy out, but be cold as hell.
Only maybe 12 years that Mars cap lasted for them. I guess thats not too bad but they better keep a spare one as the new stuff won't likely make it that long.
Nice to see you get these old things running. Thanks Steven!
“Who talked you into that piece of shit” the nest. 🤣🤣

1972! Wow. My A/C lasted 30 years I installed it in my first house in 1992 when I was in the HVAC trade, and I just replaced it.
Wow Steve! Fifty one years old and still working! They don’t make them like that anymore.
“Who talked you into that piece of shit?” 😆
I’ve had a nest thermostat for 5 years and it’s amazing. Not a single issue, no battery changes, nothing!
Give it another 2 yrs you’ll be replacing that entire system. There an issue for us tecs, they don’t send a steady 24volts
@@billyb6743 oh it has that crazy 7 year disease? lol

I agree, ecobee is a little bit more customizable but the nest is an easy-to-use, timeless, and classy thermostat.
Ecoobee is also fantastic
How do you keep track of whats on the truck and when to re-supply?
Steve got them squeaky shoes every video lol 😂 love the channel Steve! Thank you
90*?? That’s a fuckin’ cold snap for us in Ga, lol😂
1972, that's awesome! Cap'n'go mamma, cha-ching! Steve's been ringing the register lately! 😉😄
Steve strikes again. Nice

Yeah it's hot it's 101 degrees here in northeastern Oklahoma

@@DielectricVideos Ours is 70 % plus...
@@DielectricVideos Yeah "but it's a dry heat" LOL. I was in Phoenix for a week in July and that heat was insane.
Goodman made Janitrol back before Daikin bought Goodman. The 3 ton Janitrol condensing units were dirt cheap if you bought them on sale.
Great Sunday Video! 🤓
It's the humidity that makes things feel so friggin hot. Dewpoints in the 70s makes it feel like 90s-100s. Nasty!

@Parkhill57 Interesting. Usually when you pull mositure out of the air it actually gets warmer so wonder how that works with an AC.
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all. 👍👍
Too bad that nothing is made like it used to be. It’s really frustrating that things are made so cheaply these days!
Those ganitrols won't stop running. Took one out last year still going after 35 + years.
Hello Steve!
My heat pump went out june 3 deep south tell me about HOTT!! Installers coming tomorrow with only about two more months of cooling left.
Steve i miss your old video titles!!
Howdy Steve and Molly. Be careful in that heat
I miss that sound. Good ol Bristol recip. Loud as fk
With heat index it was 114 yesterday. Air temp was 96. I will take 83 all day long.
I haven't seen one Nest pass the Ted Cook durability test, lol. 😂
We need a Coffee chat Steve, whats going on with you, RUclips, and work. :-)
What do you think of a Carrie?
Who’s Carrie? She hot?
Only rich people put in A/C in 72. I bet Miss Daisy lived there. She watched her dimes, pennies, and cans of salmon! Nothing but quality mama!
Buddy if u think is hot there come to Texas LMAO
Dude your funny as hell
Don't u just luv those customers with a cute lil Nest thermostat and shit box outside unit with no maintenace.
Cap and go mama... Ted Cook would be proud.
Only maybe 12 years that Mars cap lasted for them. I guess thats not too bad but they better keep a spare one as the new stuff won't likely make it that long.
Steve we like your old titles better than these new ones. These titles don't sound anything like you.
Never heard of Janitrol brand A/C.
Looked it up. Not made since 1992. Taken over by Goodman !
It's a Goodman !
Contactor buzzing.
@@weavercattlecoOr it’s loose. Not fastened tightly.
Anyone would think its hot out there 😂😂😂
HIio you ok Stive

Someone painted the disconnect panel, LID CLOSED, with enamel paint 😩
Idiots!!!
Nothing but quality here!
