NAIL it - Well my friend, you certainly did that. Death, and dealing with the loss of someone is a very difficult and awkward subject for most of us to deal with, but Robin, my goodness, you did an amazing job. Not just all the cards and techniques you shared, but the way you talked to us, your viewers, about the subject. Encouraging us to think about what we want to say and how to express that, when reaching out to the loved ones of the person who has passed. Advice on colour choices and layouts - even suggesting using our own hand-writing to give that extra personal touch. You clearly put a lot time, effort and thought into putting this video together and I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for all you do for us who follow you. To have an entire video on this subject, for me, was quite an emotional experience, and I thank you most sincerely for doing this. You are one amazing lady. With affection, Lynn (from Australia).
Hello Lynn dear, and thank you your very generous words. I am most appreciative of you reiterating what I tried to accomplish with this content. Love you!
Robin, I wish I saw this vid two months ago; what an extremely empathic and helpful video on dealing with a very tragic moment in friends and families lives. Thank you so much for the techniques shown and card examples created!! 😢❤🙏🏾✨
Oh, Robin, what a GREAT tutorial!!!.... not just the techniques, but the "info" on how to write the messages in the inside. This helped me SO much in MANY ways! TFS 😘 x ❤️
Thank you Robin. I very much appreciate how you include so much information and inspiration into each video. You make it worth spending the time to watch. Well done!
I appreciate this tutorial, Robin. I over think sympathy cards and hesitate sending them. Your ideas of how to express your thoughts on the inside message were helpful. Loss of a loved one is never easy, so we can be good stewards and friends by reaching out during this time. Thank you. This tutorial hits home. I’ll lean on your words when I create these cards. You are the best!
Hi there, Janice, and thank you for your very lovely comment. I truly struggle with this occasion, too, and I needed to teach myself a better way to get these cards made in a more timely way. 😄
Robin, the entire collection of sympathy cards you made are exceptionally beautiful! The colors chosen to the stamp choice and the watercolor idea is perfect. I couldn't pick a favorite if I wanted to. They are all heartfelt in every way. Another great video that everyone needs to watch. Thank you for taking the time to put this together to share. ❤❤
I watched this video at just the right time. My children lost their father 3 weeks ago. My son looked after him for the past 5 years. Their dad and I divorced over 40 years ago, but we developed a friendship over the years, and I was there, with my children, when he passed. I wanted to send my son a note to tell him how proud I am of him for what he did for his dad. thank you for the inspiration.
Glad that you managed to become friends. Rough on your guys. My youngest tends to come over on Sunday evening and his dad calls and I can hear the whole conversation. One night he said something and I just spontaneously popped off and said something and his dad laughed. I knew it was one of his rare laughs where he caught the joke and truly thought it was funny. He has some problems, but I knew that was the probably the first time he had genuinely laughed in a long time. That is as far as friendship we would have. He insisted to the youngest not to give me his phone number, never thinking that if something happens to the boys, I would most likely be the one that calls him. Otherwise, I have nothing to talk to him about. He doesn't want me to know his address, etc. and he is 72. I have heard of couples still be friendly after a divorce, but if I could have been his friend then, I would have never gone through a divorce. But I am glad your boys and you are deealing with it.
All of these cards are absolutely amazing. Just exquisite, each one! You made this video so complete, e.g., tone, color, message, techniques. Showed so much love and care in the process! I am a naturally cheerful person and have trouble toning things down, so your tips about what to write and color choices give me lots to think about. Thanks so much, definitely worth waiting for.❤❤❤
Hi Susan! I am thanking YOU because your post in our Facebook group was the impetus for this content. Thank you, as always, for your thoughtful and sweet comment.😁
Thank you so much Robin for the very well done template including so many excellent options for what to write inside of a sympathy card (And the links to the three websites). I appreciate your thoughtfulness and the time and care you put into the video and the PDF. All of your beautiful cards beautiful evoke the feeling of calm and loving care. Thank you for the inspiration 💗
Thank you, Cheryl! I hope you will feel more empowered next time you have to make or send a sympathy card. Researching this information has also helped me too!!😀
Very valuable! 🎉 Thank you for doing the hard work too. Sympathy cards are the hardest! Thank you for the “tips”. You NAIL’ed it! It gives me great pleasure and inspiration to see you creating collage with ink! I come from a bit of mixed media background, and love of watercolor techniques-combining the stamps, embossing folders, deckled edges and layering SU’s beautiful papers is “feeding” my soul. Thank you for ALL you do to “wet” our creative juices and encourage us. ❤😘and now, it’s time to play!

Very helpful video. I always wait a bit before sending a sympathy card. It's comforting to receive a remembrance of your loved one after some time has passed.
All your cards were beautiful and very appropriate for invoking emotion (imo). I too like the look of muted soft tones for these types of cards but you showed me how to change my usual style for sympathy cards. I LOVE the water color technique and thought both looks were stunning. Personally, I know I would feel the emotion intended if I were sad and received any of the cards you made. I think they speak volumes. Unfortunately, I'm needing to make a sympathy card for a dear friend who just lost a fur baby. Any of these techniques will really help me convey the emotion I'm feeling and hope she too will feel. Thank you so much for taking the time to express your reasoning for each style. It made a huge difference for me and the video went way beyond what I was anticipating for sympathy cards (shame on me). Your cards were beautiful as well as your thoughts, explanation for each technique.... I could go on and on..... TFS Robin. Perfect...
Gayle...Wow! Thank you greatly for giving me so much helpful feedback in your comment. I really appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with me. ☺☺☺☺☺
Your video is packed full of inspiration and great cards. Thank you very much for the helpful information about writing sympathy cards and you well-researched blog post and PDF.
Great cards and ideas Robin. I always try to have every type of card on hand in my stash for emergencies. Some I don’t even put a sentiment on until I know who it’s going to.
Hi Debbie! I think you hit the nail on the head! Having a bunch of sympathy cards already made takes the delay out of the equation when sending them. Good tip about the sentiment too - thank you!😃

Hi Robin. I really appreciated this video. The cards were all exquisite. My takeaway from this is that you really can't go wrong using a nature motif. I wanted to share with you and your viewers a book that was recommended to me which I have found quite useful -- not only for sympathy cards but many other occasions. Thank you. I'm really happy to see you making the rounds and checking out my content, but very glad that you are finding them useful to your cardmaking!
@@reallyrobinstamps I broke my leg June 18. Watching card making videos is something I can do right now. Can’t even go downstairs to my card making table. This will pass.
Sympathy cards are something that seems to be lacking in card making supplies. I rarely find any stamps that say with sympathy or anything else, so I appreciate this video. My mother died in March at 94 years old. My stepdad is taking it hard. I have sent him several cards and he has talked to me on the phone about them and says he will treasure them and not put them away. I had never even thought of that till now that it is a common thing. I'm 68 so more on the side of folks dying that getting married or having babies, etc. One thing I do plan to do since I have the ability to machine embroider words and I have gotten some sheer ribbon that I can embroider With Syimpathy on it., or Thinking of You, and with appropriate colors Best Wishes for weddings. I know in the past black was for deaths in the family and then dark purple and then lavendar, so I have ribbons in those colors. Not that we practice dressing in certain colors, but at least those are some colors to springboard off of.
Hi Robin, great to see you. Hope the tech problems get sorted for you. Thank you for tackling this sometimes awkward situations and trying to create when upset.
Another great video of yours that I found! I often worry not so much about what to say, but how elaborate a card to make. I worry how too fancy a card might mistakingly undermine the note of sympathy.
That is such a good point and I’ve had similar concerns. The message of the card is carried throughout, however your words are the most important part. Thank you for this conversation!😀
The joy of watching on a computer monitor. With your mountain card I was trying to figure out why the one road took up going up the side of the mountain. Finally I realize that it was your thread-DUH. The card with the wave. How do you make it stand up?
Just recently found you. I enjoy all your tips and tricks. Your cards are beautiful. Thank you for all the videos, can’t wait to see more of them. You talk about the rain and snow in one of your videos I watched. We could use some of that here in California. What state are you in? Thanks so much for the tips on messages and the colors. I am really enjoying your videos.
May I suggest that not sending a sympathy card right away can be a good thing. When there is a loss, friends and family are typically available to offer comfort/support while the recipient is almost overwhelmed by just breathing. After a few weeks, when the loss is really sinking in, everyone else has gone on with their busy lives. They aren’t being mean; they are able to move on because the loss isn’t in their face every moment of every day as it is when the person lost lives in one’s household. That is when I try to make an extra offer to “be there” with thinking of you sentiments and actions.

I really like your idea for creating your own sympathy greeting by embroidering on ribbon! How creative!😁
Hi Robin, great to see you. Hope the tech problems get sorted for you. Thank you for tackling this sometimes awkward situations and trying to create when upset.
Hello Wendy, and thank you! We are all in the same boat when the time comes to make a sympathy card. 😀

Great cards!!!!!!!!
Hi Su! Thank you very much!😀

Hi Sue and welcome - I'm very glad you are here and enjoying my content! I live in Illinois. Thank you for your lovely comment!😃
Seems like sympathy cards are getting more frequent. Everyone my age is losing a parent or spouse. Thank you for the techniques and the free download!
Hello Kimberly and thank you for your comment. We all need them more as we age.
My problem with making sympathy cards is I’m having fun making a card and they are going through such a sad time. Talk about overthinking it!
Hi Vicki! I understand this line of thinking too.☺
May I suggest that not sending a sympathy card right away can be a good thing.
Findlay, this is so true. Well said advice.☺
