A TV politico was interviewed after her first speech as PM and said that right now, Truss needs to be persuasive and charismatic. The problem? “She’s neither.”
Every speech she delivers reminds me of speeches we had to write in year 6. On overbearing attempt at using ALL components of "great" speeches: rules of three, comparisons, anecdotes, relating questions, leading answers, rhetorics, more rules of three, a summary, a tagline/hook repeated, alliteration.
It just sounds like an 11 year old has written it to secure marks - without caring how it actually sounds or comes across.
That's it. You nailed it I reckon. That's why she comes across so uncanny. It's like a poorly written novel can be boring and bland for the same reasons; The author follows all the rules of story building to a T like plot, subplot, hero's redemption arc, a romantic interest and a tragic event etc. But there's zero passion or imagination gone into the thing. Her speeches are like that. She's like an AI doing "politician". It's the final stage of establishment brain-rot on display.
It reminds me of Mock the week - things we’d like to see.
I hadn't realised until I read this comment just how true that is. She tries so hard to be exciting and charismatic but just comes across as incompetent, soulless, and utterly uninspiring.

To be fair, most politicians have these scripts written for them and you barely notice it for most people. She's just so wooden and unconvincing as a speaker. It's concerning as a viewer because you rarely see someone so uninspired and unconvinced by their own politics.
And she says that the major trait she requires of her cabinet members is 'competence' - oh the irony!
With the remaining talent in the Conservative party the bar for competence is probably to get through a cabinet meeting without licking doorknobs.

It’s genuinely terrifying that the next PM is going to be Truss or Sunak, both are awful but which is the least worse? I genuinely have no idea.
Either way is bad. Sunak seems to have more of a clue generally, but that makes him more evil because he knows what he's doing. We can give Truss the benefit of the doubt due to her stupidity, but then we'll end up with an incompetent PM if she wins. We either get evil or incompetent, there's no winning for the public this time
