We've all forgot the ole kill switch my friend!!!!! Don't feel bad
Keep goin bro, gets easier more you do and learn :)
Good job! Keep it up
Nice video, I'm surprised that those fuel lines on the inside were that bad.
Don't forget there's a neutral safety switch that can get you also. Subbed
Awesome video. I am currently trying to get a 1979 evinrude 140 to run. Pretty much the same motor as yours actually. This video is helped me a ton! I now have the confidence to pull the carbs and clean them. My current problem is getting spark, buying a multimeter tomorrow to start finding my issue with wiring. I dont think i am but I'm going to laugh my butt off if I find out I'm missing a kill switch.
Awesome Joshua! Glad to hear it! Good luck to you 🤞
I like johnson outboard is 115 hp evinrude nice too
Before you get it running put a set of hose muffs with running water on the lower unit to keep.from destroying the water pump. It most likely needs one anyway after sitting 20 years but it is a good habit to be in.
My buddy took his boat to the mechanic because it wouldn't start. His grandson pulled the kill switch and didn't tell him. You are not alone.
You can get a rebuild kit for the primer with the top part. Also the last thing you want is to get out on the water and have a coil go bad if you bought new ones use them
They make a evinrude Johnson primer solenoid rebuild kit for like 10 bucks
Got one of those rebuild kits, hooked it all up. Still didn't work. It clicked but nothing happened on the inside. Ended up buying a new one for $85 and it works now.
You look familiar, do you have a separate channel? Love old boats! Edit! you posted the co part boat video..still cant believe all the fees!
Do you watch poker vlogs? I used to do a little of that. The fees were ridiculous. However, I was wrong about the storage fee, there is a Max per day they will charge.
What plugs do you use on that motor ?
Put your model number into google and you should be able to find part numbers for it
You can buy a solenoid primary kit for cheap has that part
Thanks. Bought one. Ended up having to get a whole new one though. Got it working now. 👍
there's no other video of the Johnson motor running ?
i ment the Evinrude
That motor only weighs just over 300 pounds I have a 115 1984 Evinrude on my boat
You seem to be trying to watch what you spend. Thats good because those 2 motors aren't worth much. Johnson and Evinrude are gone, and 2 cycle outboards are pretty much obsolete. If you really want an old 2 stroke, the Yamaha's were good ones.
Thanks. The old one still sell pretty decent. I believe because they're so easy to work on.
I will never use a four stroke outboard. My 51 year old Johnson runs great. The Yamaha two strokes might last ten years and might not. Five years in saltwater running to the canyons. Poor folks got bamboozled on those for sure. Just another chapter in the Pearl Harbor saga.

I agree 4 strokes are heavy and to me they don't pop out of the hole like a 2 stroke. I would put a 200 Johnson Strike Force up against a 200 4 stroke Yamaha all day.
