    I’m using bear 2 since obsidian on iPad didn’t do it for me. And now it has all the basic features one needs to get started with Zettelkästen method, I’ve seen no less than 7 videos just to come back to this one since your explanation and demonstration is amazing. Thank you.
    Also for anyone reading this: check out bear2 if you find obsidian overwhelming, once you get hang of it you can move all your notes in a single click to obsidian without losing even a bit of continuity.

    Thank you Darin. I read every comment and agree that you've made the whole concept of Zettelkasten something that I can now appreciate, where as before, the convoluted explanations made me understand the reason friends and former students retreat from math. I for one was really interested in your music selections! Go figure? 🤔 Question, your example was pretty concise yet when you opened the graph, you had a lot there. I'm really interested to learn how you catalog and search subfolders in a future video. Thanks

    Sawasdee krubb! Glad I found your channel and this video. The content is stellar! I’ve been learning about PKM since mid-2020 and this has been one of the best videos explaining the idea, process and tools I’ve seen.
    No matter how I try to organize, my Notion workspace always becomes a mess (I score very low on conscientiousness), so I gave up on organizing entirely. My notes have since been completely unorganized, and I rely solely on backlinks and the search system to help me find stuff.
    After watching this video, I found the categorization of notes (into daily notes, hub, fleeting, literature, etc.) very inspiring. My vault is still a mess but I’m starting to have some ideas on making it a more managable mess.
    One practice that really helped me get started with PKM is whenever I post written content online (e.g. this RUclips comment) I immediately copy it to my vault.
    Thank you for sharing and I look forward to more of your content krubb!

    Hi Darin. After using, studying and developing my own zettelkasten method, about 7 months, i noticed that literature notes are just overburden (at least for me) . İ just add bib reference (book , site vs) under note if there is (i use zotero / zotcite for that and my editor is vim). Every note is floating note with keywords. i even don't classify them as permenant. When i use notes for a project (a general project hub page consisting individual projects ) i tidy and link them, so they became permenant notes but just in my head. No indication in note if it is floating, literature or permenant. i strongly think about that kind of study :) ... Note: Projects are secial hubs, other than then i have also normal hubs connecting floating notes. I learned and understand a lot from your videos. Thank you again. Have a nice day.

    Thank you so much for your incredible videos. A couple of questions:
    1) What do you do with fleeting "notes" or ideas of things you want to research but don't have time to do that day?
    2) Where else online can I follow you?

    • @dsuthapong
      @dsuthapong  2 года назад +1

      Hey James! Thanks so much for your feedback and also your excellent questions!
      1. There are 3 use cases that can happen to my fleeting notes
      1.1 Use as a reference: For example, I might be thinking about a concept or something I’m working on in my Zettelkasten, so I mention that note (Let’s say note “ABC”) in my fleeting note. So next time I work on the note ABC I’ll see this fleeting note as a backlink, and I can see what else I was thinking about on that day.
      1.2 turn information I captured into either a permanent note or a literature notes. This has to be done as soon as I have time.
      1.3 Create a new “hub note” and remind myself to learn more about this (you can watch my video about Hub Note if you haven’t seen it).
      For example, on one of the fleeting notes I was thinking about how can I give direct feedback to my team without hurting their feelings. And since I would have to research and think further about this, I create a new Hub note called “How to give effective feedback” and add a task to my todo app to read more about this and discuss with my team.
      2. I just started an IG a account recently 🥳 It doesn’t have anything yet but will have more content soon ☺️

    Hey Darin, great video!

    In your HUB area, do you just keep links to the Permanent Notes, or do you actually make the notes in there?

    • @dsuthapong
      @dsuthapong  2 года назад +1

      Hi Victor!
      Actually, it can be linked to from any notes (Permanent & Literature) but there are actual notes in there as well. In the beginning, the actual notes in the HUB would be empty but once there are lots of notes linked to it I can write the summary of that concept in the HUB notes.
      My next video will talk about HUB notes, so stay tuned for more info about this :)

      Greetings Mahnu!
      I used I ipad for Obsidian too, and it seems to work for me 🤔 Let me try to give you some hints here to help you
      What we're doing is called block referencing. You need to add "^" sign after the name of the note to block reference.
      For example, you want to block reference the note named "Bitcion Mining" . You'd type [[Bitcion^]] then Obsidian should show you which block to reference.
      Please try this let me know if this works.

    How is Connect different from Crystalize? If I am making connections between all my recorded knowledge, it would seem to me that I am crystallizing something out of that knowledge. Could someone explain the difference between the two?

    • @dsuthapong
      @dsuthapong  Год назад

      Thank you for the question Drew! Actually I have a more updated version of the diagram where Connect and Crystalize are not a linear line, but a cycle. I should make an updated version of this video 😅
      Back to your question:
      Connect is about “making a connection to another note”
      Crystalize is about “transforming content into a more and more concrete idea”
      Example:
      - Yesterday I “Captured” my frustration about being a startup CEO in a fleeting note as a block of text (unrefined)
      - I “Connect” this block of texts to a Hub Note named [[How to be an effective CEO]]
      - I then “Crystallize” this block of text into a permanent note named [[A CEO needs to be willing to make an unpopular decision]]. In this note, I Crystallized my understanding of being a good CEO.
      From this permanent note, I Connect to another permanent note named [[CEO is a lonely job]]
      I hope this helps a bit 😅

    Great content 🙂👍 keep it going. There are a few pointers, I think the music is a bit too loud. Also towards the end the music was too rhythmic and glitchy so it was very distracting (because remember, speech has a rhythm too), and finally the audio of your voice has just a little bit too much reverb, it may be from your surroundings and maybe from an effect you use.
    Best of luck 🙂

      No Music: ruclips.net/video/joi-uiO_mdc/видео.html
      Regarding reverb, I will need to try finding a way to treat my space better since this place is super echo-y .

      @@dsuthapong you are very welcome Darin 😊, wow you actually made videos with different music huh! Good job, the videos are valuable enough to repost indeed 🙏
      You can start simple with heavy curtains, and wall or floor carpets (strategically placed of course), that will make enough difference, since the problem isn't severe, the reverb is just a little high, just a little
      Best of luck 🌼

    Great video! Just one question: You recommend to create a hub early on, but isn't that opposed to the philosophy to have the notes and connections first and see into what the cluster emerge? Instead of creating these structure top down in the beginning?

    • @dsuthapong
      @dsuthapong  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the question Patrick! You are right! The network-note-taking communities normally encourage the philosophy of the bottom-up approach. However, I also do like the philosophy of “Favorite Problems” from Richard Feynman as well. And i do think that creating hub notes early on are like listing out things you want to capture, providing the lens you can use to filter things to want to consume and write about. I don’t think having hub notes early on is necessary ;however, it could be very helpful for some people ☺️

    Thanks, but I got confused during the actual demo. After watching about 20 videos on ZettelKasten using digital tools, I'm beginning to think that analog is probably the best way to do it. Every program has a different and quirky way of implementing zettelkasten, learning curve is hap hazard and seems I'd be spending so much time fiddling around with the interface and commands instead of actually taking notes and being productive.

    • @dsuthapong

      Hi Abaseen! Yes, actually a physical zettelkasten is not bad at all. There are so many benefits. Handwriting takes more effort and helps you remember things better. Also you can layout paper on a desk and see connection that way. In fact, Ryan Holidays also use paper-base. Please use what works best for you🥰
