Samples: "Check the Rhime" by A Tribe Called Quest (1991), "Snow Creatures" by Quincy Jones (1970), "Impeach the President" by The Honey Drippers (1973) (Drums), and "Just Us" by Richard Pryor (1975). There's one thing that baffles me with this tune: The Honey Drippers's "Impeach the President" (1973) (Drums) "which is not on the Who Sampled website for the track. Can someone help?
DJ premier stated in an interview on Drink Champs (w/Pete Rock) that Guru was drunk during the recording of this track (just in case someone thinking, ''why Guru sounds weird of this track?'').
how i felt when i heard this joint the First Time i was like Did he Catch A Flu or Is He Losing His Boston Accent?? but For Premo to state that Guru was Drunk it made me understand Why.
I always thought they slowed his verse on this track. Like he originally rhymed to another faster beat and they had to adjust his vocals to fit the track. Makes way more sense now. RIP Guru
Funky, Sipping on that brass monkey 🥃 Just called over a shawty While at my best looking fly and staying fresh, playing tracks that's dope and death, smoking weed with stanking breath 🗣️🚬
@@DjTIMEJD Ah just the rest of the songs are better, this is pretty weak IMO. Speak Ya Clout, Code of the streets and the one about bodyguards are all way better. oh and of course FALA
