Hey folks, driving in Cairo is interesting to watch. It is never boring on the streets of Cairo. For more information subtitles in different languages are available. If you have suggestions or feedback just leave a comment, thank you.
I also permanently displayed the permitted maximum speed. I've heard a lot of complaints about Speeding Tickets. In this way I hope to protect you from possible Speeding tickets. In future videos I will continue this on main roads.
You have to watch out for walking people, taxis, toktok's and especially for (white) microbuses. Their behavior is unpredictable and it can lead to a disaster. Otherwise is driving in Cairo, Egypt a funny and enjoyable thing. Always wear your seat belt and keep to the speed limit.

Cairo
Cairo (القاهرة) is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Arab world.
Cairo “El Qahera” means literally "the Strong“, "the Conqueror or “the Vanquisher.”
Supposedly due to the fact that the planet Mars, “el Negm el Qahir” (النجم القاهر) “the Conquering Star", was rising at the time when the city was founded
The Cairo metropolitan area, with a population of 21.3 million, is the largest metropolitan area in the Arab world, the second largest in Africa, and the sixth largest in the world.
Due to the high number of the population, there is a population density of 15.850 inhabitants per km².
For a better comparison, Berlin "only" has a density of 4.115 inhabitants per km² or New York with 10.639 km².
Cairo was founded in 969 by the Fatimid General Dschauhar as-Siqillī. (Fatimid Dynasty)
But the land composing the present-day city was the site of Ancient National Capitals whose remnants remain visible in parts of Old Cairo.
The city is often referred to by Egyptians simply by the country name “Masr”, in arabic (مصر).
Cairo is the political, economic and cultural center of Egypt and the Arab world.
The city is the seat of the Egyptian government, parliament, all state and religious central authorities and numerous diplomatic missions.
Cairo is the most important transport hub in Egypt and has numerous universities, colleges, theaters, museums and monuments.
The old town of Cairo is an ensemble of Islamic architecture and has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1979.
Egypt
With 1,001,449 km², Egypt (مصر) is three times the size of Germany and the 29th largest country in the world.
For further comparison, the United States has a size of 9,834,000 km². Egypt fits almost 10 times in this area.
The same goes for Canada. With a size of 9,985,000 km², this is comparable to the USA.
The Arab Republic of Egypt was founded on June 18th, 1953.
Calculated on the whole country area, Egypt has a population density of almost 100 inhabitants per km².
On average, the population increases by 1.9% annually.
The capital of Egypt is Cairo with a population of almost 10 million people. The metropolitan area comprises approximately 22 million people.
However, the 102,600,000 (15th worldwide) in Egypt, people only populate about 7.7% of the total area.
Approximately 77,000 km² of the 1,001,449 km² total area are populated.
That is roughly the size of Serbia (115th worldwide). Serbia has a total population of 6.9 million. (105th worldwide).
However, many new satellite cities are under construction around Cairo.
New cities are also emerging on the Mediterranean coast between Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt and Marsa Matrouh in the west.
There are 27 governorates in Egypt, comparable to the 16 federal states of Germany or the 50 states of the USA.
Statistically, Egypt has 6 rainy days per year.
In Egypt, the "Egyptian pound" is used to pay. It is abbreviated with LE. The LE stands for Livre Égyptienne and comes from the French.
The currency is also known by the abbreviation “EGP”.
