I think its possible the main jet and idle jet were swapped, I neglected to check them because I presumed no one was in the carbs before. I will keep you updated "The history is always a mystery" 😂😂
Hi KY, the accelerator pump is on one float bowls but does pump fuel to both carbs similar to an old school automotive carburetor. And those CV carbs are a PITA. I've got one too.
Great video..Had the old CB450 , their Carb's are always fun to work on...pleased you had a good memory to put them bits & pieces back together again...looking forward to the first Run..should go like a rocket...
I just picked up a 99 750 nighthawk that had been parked and sitting in the back of a garage for 6yrs with fuel but he had filled with non ethanol, seafoam and stabil but a new battery she fired right up and i ran it a few miles, now to get out the old gas and refill it
Another great video. I found it more than interesting when you mentioned about the ultra sonic v chemical dipping. I completely agree that the way you did it was a better way. Thanks for posting this video
Finally, Benny! Forever since your last bike wrenching video. Funny, there's a Nighthawk for sale at the end of my street. I did a t500 Titan like yours and got it rumbling good. Maybe I should copy your Nighthawk, too! Lol.
I find these machines are very cold blooded. Must be jetted quite lean from factory. After sitting for a few days mine likes a few twists of the throttle before starting. The accelerstor pump will squirt some fuel in with each twist.
Your light issue is likely in the ignition switch, I have had one of those 450's for 20 years. There is a plastic disk which rotates with the key and it degrades and wears and when this happens it will turn just by the weight of the keys. Pull the headlight, remove the switch and wiring, inspect, clean and grease then try again. Hope it works!
Thanks! Yeah I have a new air filter, I ended up taking the jets back out and cleaning them with a torch tip cleaner, musta had some build up in them, runs awesome now! Amateur mistake 😔.....🤷♂️
Kentucky, I found a complete 82 cb450. Hasn't run in 20 years and been in a garage according to owner's ad. Pics look good. It's Red. Might be a Nighthawk, not sure. Haven't talked to him yet. Wants $1000 for it. I wonder if I can get it for a little less. I have done the same work you do to these so I like your vids on this and I will let you know how it turns out if I obtain it. Thanks for your videos. As has been said before, they should help out bunches!
I just got a hawk459 , it’s been sitting for a while as well, the throttle is stiff on it , it won’t move at all when I try to twist it . Any ideas how I can make it loose again ?
Just put a filter it will rev just fine. I tried to run it without filter in it did the same thing. It didn't rev completely.
She purrs. Sounds like she may want more gas when you rev it and it sounded the best on the last rev. Nice work and find!

Sounds good appreciate the tip!
Weird carbs. Why not just a standard CV carb? Great video.
Great video. Make sure to get an air filter in there, it could be to lean without that restriction.

They make a tool to lube the cable they're cheap. Also lube up the linkage on the carb
Necesito carburadores
