Got a little hint for you to help determine overall reliability on any semi-auto you're testing. Usually the most difficult part of the feeding test will be the first few rounds off the top of a full magazine. This is for those times, like nowadays, when ammo is at a premium, but you need to stress the magazine/weapon interface more fully: fill the first part of the magazine with dummy rounds, then top it off with five live rounds, enough to fill the mag completely. Most of the time, if you're going to experience hang-ups, it will be from a full mag. You'll fire the first five, then remove and reload the dummy round that fed into the chamber back into the mag. It's a hassle, I know, but you'll get more accurate feedback on the reliability of your weapon that way. God bless you and yours, sir.
One reason I like watching your channel brother is that you keep it family friendly. You know Levi watches and a bunch of kids. Oh man I’ve got to get me one of them shirts. Are they shirts in 3x brother??? Whoooooo teeeeee whooooooooooooooo. GOD BLESS.
Thank You For this. Just Got a CPX-1 3rd Gen. Have not bought ammo yet it appears 115 works in this gun well from the videos I have seen. I will probabaly get Winchester 115 white box for practice and HP for carry. I did hear they hate Hornady XTP but you know that could be wrong.
I took my dremel and polished the feed ramp in my wife's CPX2. We never had a jam but I could tell the hollow points were trying to hang up when you charged it. It's smooth as butter now. Especially with Hornady Critical Defense. 👍
I polished my feed ramp along with other metal on metal contact points on slide and got a 20# spring. Went ahead and took the sharp inner edges off my magazines too. I'm super confident in this pistol. Videos like yours are a very good help in my firearm decisions and also learning about other things from you. Appreciate ya
Of course. I'm in the learning/research phase of this pistol. I currently carry a Sig P320 compact but it's quite heavy (nearly 2 lbs w.ammo). I love it but am seeking a lighter carry. Also something I enjoy target shooting. I've heard this SCCY at the gun store and loved it but still doing homework before a birthday purchase. My only worry this far is the long trigger pull... something I'm not used to. Yet it can be looked past considering all of the pluses for this pistol, low weight, reliability and cost being being the major ones.
Picking my new SCCY CX2 9mm up today. I hope it shoots near that good. From all the videos I have seen on here, its a great little pistol. Thanks for such a thorough video with so many different types of ammo. I prefer hollow point for CC.
you're getting to be a better shot. The Federal hollow might often cause a problem, the hole is so big it's kinda like having a flat nose on it, and not all feed ramps can handle it. Seems like a good shooting gun for you. You should see if you can get your hands on a Ruger Mark 3 and 4, run them side by side, see if there is any difference at all. I love the mark series, but the claim to fame for the 4 is easy take down for cleaning... well I never found that a problem, the mark 3 would just run and run and I would only need to clean it when I got home, clean the bore and maybe lube it a bit, I never tore it down, and it ran for years and years until I had to sell it..sorry I ever did, but one does what one must when the need arises.
@@nicktrue7915 the 4 is supposed to solve that, but I'm not one that tears them down, just clean the bore and put some lube on moving parts... that's about it, never had a problem with it. I think some people over clean them Never did much more than that with any of my weapons... never have a problem because of it.
I love my cpx but then I read the manual(!) And it says dont run +p ammomore than 50rd per session. I wonder what the point is for a 9mm gun if it cant run NATO ammo on a regular basis...
You have me really excited to run my CPX-2 after seeing all the great info and tests you have put into them! After watching the video a 2nd time I'm in love with the camo pattern. If you ever decide to autograph it and sell it off hit me up :)
This is the video I have been looking for. Great information for a new SCCY owner. I was wondering what was a good, reliable round. Again, thanks for a good, timely video, and great presentation. Your delivery is very down home and honest.
I have a sky CPX2 and for some reason when I go to shoot it doesn’t matter what the round is the gun will jam is it because the barrel is dirty or is it because the round is not being fed properly
Been shooting since the 70s. Technology has really improved since then. Cheaper weapons preformed poorly back then. Nowadays you reliability is the norm in less expensive weapons.
I just snagged up a CPX-2, and loaded the mag with Sig-Sauer Hollow points. I hope they don't jam up if I need them in a Home Defense scenario. I will have to spend some money at the range, to make sure it doesn't F2F.... Thanks for the heads up on HP hangups.
I'm going to see if I can get the same color you have from sccy I love that look and my slide is stainless hope I can get one you could be a nice guy and send me yours trade for my purple one 😆 your ammo test will save me some money on witch ammo runs better in the SCCY!

I wish that cheaper guns didn't get a bad shake. The SCCY seems to be a decent shooter.

All that different ammo says a lot for that little pistol being dependable. I like it.
