A bit of coin lore for you all. If you find a coin with nail polish on it, typically red, it was a quarter (nickel /dime) used by a restaurant or such to put into the juke box. The paint identified it as belonging to the establishment, and was returned to a special box of coins to feed the juke box to make the dining more pleasant. The paint insured that it was not counted in the coin take for that machine. It was common in my area to find them back in the 60's.
I love the Washington quarter but it doesn't love me. Have never found a silver one yet after decades of not even searching for them. It goes without saying, the diamonds are right in front of your face and you're oblivious until you start searching for them. Then you can't find any. And with that said... RobFindsTreasure, you are a gem my dude! I love you and your videos and can't wait for the next one. Please keep doing what you're doing and keep that passion up my man!
Looked through some old coins passed down from my father Saturday. About 8-10 silver quarters the oldest was 1944. Found two half dollars from 1893 some fair or expo on it. A lot of wheat pennies. A couple old pennies (large size) from the late 1800's.
I have no idea what any of this means but I run a cashier and I'm always picking out coins I find interesting and i put them in a jar i have at home. I just looked through them and I have 7 quarters with a W on them. Where can I look up if they're collectible? They're all basically spotless
Do you ever think that you have looked at the same coin twice? Just a thought since you hunt through so many coins. Marking a quarter a certain way so you know it's yours and seeing how long it takes to come back to you might be interesting.
The vids are great. Im from canada and I seem to have a lot better luck with silver finds in quarters here. Im not really in the loop with American coins, can someone explain what makes the W so special to find?
They only minted 2M of each design which is significantly less than the other mints. Plus, West Point Mints generally only mints collector coins of sets and thus is the first year they made regular strikes available for the public (or general circulation).
I searched a box of penny's that was in a box with the holes in it and found 36 wheat pennies the oldest was 1917 for some reason these kind of boxes always have more finds then the other type but we don't see kind here in mo that often!
With my record with quarters, I probably have averaged one silver quarter every 50 boxes and I have been getting about one $500 box of quarters once a week since the year 2000 at my workplace where we have pool tables and lots of pinball machines. But with that said, I'm going to buy $100 bucks face in Washington junk silver quarters next time I hit up my lcs. Love your vids Rob!
Daggone Rob. I don't know how you get those boxes open with just one hand. At my age and my arthritis it takes me nothing short of a Jackhammer, two putty knives and a crowbar to get the darn things open and that's just penny boxes....... then I'm pooped out. LOL!!!!!
It's gotta be frustrating (and time consuming) to search 14,000 quarters and find only one silver, one "W," and one minor DDR. But I guess it beats searching 14,000 quarters and finding nothing!
I just found a w quarter. Its a san Antonio mission. Its not pristine but its a W. I went to my local wells Fargo asked if they can give me 50 dollars of bank rolled quarters and they gave me only 20 bucks they said Because i wasnt a customer they can only give me 20 bucks. I was good with it. Opened it up at my house and i was surprised that out of 80 quarters only 4 where 2019 and 1 was a W
I live in Columbia South Carolina and I have never seen a S or a W on coin role’s I have searched is it the fact that they just don’t make it this far cross country I only see the P’s and the D’s I guess because I’m on the east coast.
Here's the LONG answer: A true doubled die is a variety in that it is created during the die making process. As a result, the doubling will appear on every coin struck from that die. If the hub or die shifted at all during the striking process, the finished die would feature two distinct impressions with separation between them. The design, letters and digits will be doubled. On the other hand, there is mechanical doubling. This type of doubling, which is also known as strike, ejection, shelf or shift doubling, is not the result of the design on the die being doubled. Rather, this type of doubling occurs when the die strikes a planchet. If the die is not properly seated, it can move slightly or bounce during the moment of striking, creating a flat, shelf-like doubling. This effect will be different on all coins struck, so it is technically not a variety, but rather more of a striking error.
ever thought of rerolling when you're searching the next box? the sound might get annoying but throwing in a handful or two in the machine before you move to the next roll sounds time efficient
Hey Rob, Just wondering how you return all these coins that you dont want? Can you just take them back to the bank? I want to get into coin collecting but my bank doesn’t have a coin counter and the only one near me is a Coinstar which charges a percentage to deposit. Thanks!
The irony of the increasing popularity of Coin Roll Hunting is decreasing the finds for the overall community. Not saying people weren't CRH beforehand but I am definitely noticing it more especially as the hobby is being helped by the mints themselves with commerative release circulation coins.
I have a question how do you ask the bank to give you quarters rolls that arent customer returns. How do you get those bank rolls??? I ask because last time i asked for 100 dollars of quarters and all they gave me was customer returns
I don’t know how you manage to get a $500 box of quarters. I went to 4 local banks last week, and only managed to get $370 of quarters. Not a single one was a keeper either. Every box of pennies I’ve ever gotten have all been uncirculated too. So I can’t even hunt them. I envy you
I don't get it. Is this like a money making thing or just a collector thing or what? If money making, what exactly is the objective and how profitable is/can it be?
WOW I have only hunted one full box of quarters... and it took me forvever! LOL I can't even imagine how long it took to hunt, film and edit this video! Awesome hunt Rob! :D
Awesome video my friend thanks for sharing with us and I heard that in 2020 there coming out with Jefferson nickels in 3 different finishes from us mint seen it in coin world have you heard anything about that rob
Wow Rob! That has got to be tough to keep the faith in a search like this! That being said, you won’t find them, unless you search for them!😊. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to produce this video?
So I'm not too big on the coin hunting scene so this may be a dumb question, but what makes a coin from 2019 worth anything if its not a double die or something?
Congrats on finding silver, we found silver on Sunday after 10 boxes. Man that 1968 looked like stronger doubling than some of the examples in the Strike it Rich book.
I’ve been searching rolls of pennies wheat pennies for years. When I was younger I used to find 20+ wheat pennies a box. Love to see coin roll hunting is still a thing. Also, I love your channel!

In my second ever $25 dollar box of pennies I found a darn near MS 1956 D penny!!!!! Stoked!
So far I have only hunted one box of quarters and found six silver quarters in it, with the oldest being 1934. Pretty sure it was beginner’s luck!
WOW! My dream LOL!
so do you just bring the discards right back to the bank?
Cool hunt. Got a ddr-02 MN quarter last week. Full extra tree. Makes all the skunk rolls worth it.
I found 3 silvers in customer rolled! 1964D, 1955P, 1944P!
The first 3 boxes weren’t too bad! You got some silver. Congrats! 😀
The vids are great. Im from canada and I seem to have a lot better luck with silver finds in quarters here. Im not really in the loop with American coins, can someone explain what makes the W so special to find?

I hunt pennies only. But check any coin I touch. I stay away from bills, but foriegn war bills.

Beautiful 1964 quarter..nice fine
I got a 1961 quarter today from Casey's after buying 3 donuts today.......free donuts!!

Found a 1912 penny today! Oldest one yet!
All 5 of my W mint quarters are witp ones. Be nice to mix it up a bit
whats the difference between machine doubling and the other kind of doubling? Im a newb at coins and Im not sure how you can tell.
I was thinking the same thing.
Here's the LONG answer:

@@RobFindsTreasure Cool! thanks for the explanation!
I found my first collection dump yesterday, it was machine wrapped pennies, oldest coin 1889, I got 57 wheat pennies
Great job 👏!
How about a video for each denomination explaining what you are looking for and what kind of value is in them
Nice hunt but why do you pull out w quarters there made for circulation
I think my bank changed because they used to come taped but now they are glued and uncirculated.
I may get a box of dimes and see if I find silver , probably a better chance finding silver.
Lowell is where I was born....
ever thought of rerolling when you're searching the next box?
the sound might get annoying but throwing in a handful or two in the machine before you move to the next roll sounds time efficient
My last quarter box all I got was 26 coins that weren't quarters. Ripped me off of 5 dollars. :/
Rob you gonna hunt the 2020 w nickels
what is special about the w quarters other than the designs? is there something specific you're searching for in them?
Nice finds

One of my managers found a 64
Very new and very appreciative. I need to invest in thus hobby/calling and now i have an idea. Great info.
I found 4 rolls of uncirculated state quarters. Are they worth keeping?
River of no return? Why is this quarter in question
Any find is a good find, keep it up Rob 👍😊
BOOM its those 3365 boxes
What is the best way to dump a large amount of coins. 5 plus boxes
I have a question how do you ask the bank to give you quarters rolls that arent customer returns. How do you get those bank rolls??? I ask because last time i asked for 100 dollars of quarters and all they gave me was customer returns

W mint mark on 2019 quarters. minted in the West Point MInt. Low mintage's and sell for a good premium.
Lots of variety in hunting quarters. Good luck finding those W's.
Hey Rob great video
I'm from Minnesota
Crazy Russian Hacker is doing more CRH as well...
Congrats on finding silver, we found silver on Sunday after 10 boxes. Man that 1968 looked like stronger doubling than some of the examples in the Strike it Rich book.

If I'm not mistaken you missed a Puerto Rico design 09 on one of the ends of box 5 :)

Difference in double die and machine doubling?
Check out Wexler's site. Will explain everything simply. www. doubleddie.com

I think just Nickel W only in 2020
@@RobFindsTreasure thanks I did not know and knew if anyone did it would be you.

Hi rob!
Hi Devin!
Nothing like quarter hunts
I work in retail and found my first silver quarter yesterday (1964). Find plenty of wheats
Rob,
Like the sound effect with the no find boxes.
It is the same sound as one of my little brothers toys.
Are 64 quarters silver?
LCS in my area have basically put a bounty on Ws.... Haven't found one in MONTHS
I got a 1/2 box I filmed. I found quite a few 2019s including river of no returns, no RONR W though. Still lots of fun! ^.^
Hi, i'm an italian collector... Did you sell your quarter state?? I haven't some in my collection...
Is West Point minting in 2020 like they did in 2019?
isaac zerke don’t think so
I hope so
isaac zerke very unlikely but 🤞
Nickels
The rumor is nickels
I’m new. I’m curious what you do with all the coins after hunting them? Re-roll by hand? Machine roll? Or coin star?
Thanks.
He has a video on that. He uses a machine for rolling most of it it. Some of the bigger coins he wraps by hand and the pennies go to Coinstar.
RONR P's I've got still no W 😣 should I be keeping all that I find? How about the mission ones?
I only kept a roll of my nicest of each design but I do keep all W's of course.
RobFindsTreasure please tell me what is w
And I’m starting my grandson on collecting. Can u tell me what to collect PLEASE
Thanks
Looking forward to some 2020 bat quarters
I'm like you with quarters rob. No luck and personally I think they are over searched and there's not much silver left for them myself.
