"As Thomas Merton once remarked, the perfection of twelfth-century Cistercian architecture was reached, not because the Cistercians were looking for new techniques, but because they were looking for God. Gorecki, Part, and Tavener are looking for God, and they have found a musical epiphany in the pursuit." RECOVERING THE SACRED IN MUSIC, Robert R. Reilly (from EWTN)
It's a 3yr old question and while I don't see a reply, only your 'thank you', then perhaps someone answered privately. Nonetheless, maybe someone else would like to know, as I did find out, and quite easily - from the back of the CD case: it's a piece titled "Polonia" by a Polish artist named Stanisław Wyspiański (15 January 1869 - 28 November 1907), part of a stained-glass design (drawn in pastel, 1892-93 but apparently not realized) commissioned for the Arch-cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lviv/Lwów . It can be found here: mnk.pl/photo-galleries/selected-works-by-stanislaw-wyspianski
I think it is by Polish artist Duda-Gracz "Golgota Jasnogorska"(Polish)...published in book/art album....although the person above giving "Polonia" may be correct. I do recommend looking for Duda-Gracz as well.
this is wonderful and to the point while Paris is entomb with serial music with its thorny intellect and Boulez
RIP, one of the best. This piece still gives me chills
Wow. This guy's incredible.
Much obliged.
Andrzej Dobber's command of this melody is incredible.
Awesome!! Thanks!
Powerful. Only this post is missing the other (less pleasant) section...

I adore this song--all of it including the parts not in this video.
Hardly a song, but yes. Hearing Gorecki's works performed (well) live is another level of a sublime experience.
thanks!!
COMME TU ES BEAU
What painting is the picture from? It looks like a detail from a larger piece of work.
Thank you
