- Taking my husky to the vet! What's wrong with my dog? Today we are taking my dog Memphis to the vet for a checkup, and we thought it would be a good opportunity to explain why we do the things we do! First we get a fun adventure to the vet, and of course, you can't visit the vet without a special stop for food! I love to do this with each dog whenever we go to the vet. Every dog deserves a treat after seeing the doctor!
So we took Memphis to the veterinarian today because she has a small lump on her eye, and we wanted to find out what it was, and if we should do anything about it. It turns out it's an eyelid adenoma. And today we will tell you all about what it is, and what we are doing about it!

That’s amazing because our Samoyed would bolt backwards out the door as soon as she got a whiff of the place! Memphis is having the time of her life at the vets! 😂❤😂 ❤
We worked very hard, with all of our dogs, to make sure they were good at the vet, AND our vets also do a lot when our dogs are puppies to make sure it's always a positive experience!

You and your veterinarian are making the right decision for Memphis. That is the important thing. Anyone who has anything negative to say should ask themselves why they feel so self righteous, and entitled to think they should have any input whatsoever on someone else's dogs treatment plan. Love you, Miss Memphis. Even when you're grumpy. lol
For a long time, we kind or really stopped talking about when our dogs would go to the vet, or what reasons and it had a lot to do with people being so hurtful in the comments, BUT we can't let those people keep us down! If this video helps someone going through the same thing, then it was worth it!

There is nothing wrong with being pro active. As thick as a Huskies fur is I was able to find a pea size bump on my male. It turned out to be a re currence of a nerve sheath tumor. I admire people who observe something different on their animals and have it checked out. Better safe than sorry.
YES! This right here! Better safe then sorry! We have had some of the tiniest lumps removed from our dogs when the needle biopsies were inconclusive. I would always rather take the time and get it checked out! You have so much of a better outcome when you catch things early! This goes for people too!
Agreed, being proactive makes it easier to keep up with the health maintenance of a pet. If you have to surgery to remove a large tumor or need eye repair would be more expensive then just taking care of the problem from the beginning. Jesse said it well and same with Nanette!

Your pups are your children. You know what is best for them. My rescue cat is almost 15 and has hyperthyroidism. She has been on medication since diagnosed several years ago.Her one liver value was slightly elevated on her last lab work. She is very shy and the stress of frequent vet visits would cause more anxiety than it's worth. She will still get her needed blood work for monitoring her thyroid.

I love Memphis' reaction to going to the vet. She knows and trusts the people there and I think that's one of the reasons she likes going. The other reason is she gets one on one time with Jess and nibbles from McDonald's!

Memphis at the vets' office is pure joy. What other dog loves going to the vet? I don't know of many. What a wonderful girl she is. I hope every thing goes well on her eye procedure on Valentine's day.
Honestly, my current vet I don’t know how she stays open she’s like closed three days a week she doesn’t deal with emergency cases and every time my dog needs an x-ray done on the occasion, when my dog missteps and sprains in the leg, the equipment is broke down but then again that equipment has been there in that building since the building was built back in the early 70s or in the 60s, I really can’t remember how long that vets office has been open that she bought the original veterinarian practice out. I am seriously thinking about starting with another veterinarian.
Eleanor and Kira are just typical siblings, always getting each other riled up! Memphis is so chill and such a cuddlebug. The tippy tappies while her sisters played were so cute!

Hey, stuff like this is life! The good, the bad, the ugly, the gross... talking about it *normalizes* that things happen, and it's okay! Just like you said, someone might be struggling, or going through something, and be afraid to ask for help or speak up, thinking they're alone. This can help a lot. Cryosurgery is pretty easy compared to a lot of other, more invasive surgeries. Glad that's an option! Hugs and love from California!

Memphis is one tough girl, and her surgery will be a piece of cake. You are so right getting her in to the vet when you did It will keep complications from happening later.

I appreciate you always taking your dogs to the vet and sharing it with us. I do this with my dog because of you, because you are 100% correct that it is better to go when you notice something versus later when it might be too late.

Yes. Important to catch things early, cause in early stages of things it's a lot easier to deal with. Like the eye, she's not uncomfortable and can have a simple procedure done. Hope the removal goes smoothly.

i swear Memphis is part cat. I love the way she curves her front paws in when she is watching her sisters. She is so funny and sweet. I have never had a dog that likes to go to the vet. So cute the way she surfed all the counters and even used the rolling stool to move herself along the counter in the exam room.

My cat has a small lump. But was told a cyst with clear liquid. If it get bigger, let us know
Yup! We have been down the what is this lump road many times. Memphis has a tiny fatty tumor under her front arm, and we got that tested and now we just keep an eye on it. It's actually shrinking with the supplements we are giving her!

I love Memphis and her tippy tappies!! I’m similar when I find something on my dog or cat-I quickly get a consult just to identify what’s going on and find the pros/cons of treatment options if they’re necessary. I’m constantly doing once overs on my pets to see if anything is new or if anything previously noted has changed. 💛

I wish my husky loved the vet. She is an absolute nightmare. My poor girl gets so scared
We worked so hard, not only on our own, but our vets office does as well, to make sure that the dogs always feel comfortable and loved at the vet. They are always taking their time, lots of treats are rewards, and we did this with them from the day we got them. I would take a treat bag with me to the vet and always reward the good behavior. It takes work to get some dogs used to things they don't understand. Eleanor had a hard time at first and now even she loves the vet. Oakley loved going, she hated it when they touched her though, but she was my rescue and I didn't get to work with her from day one, so she was much harder at the vet.

Maya had a big one on her upper lid removed during the Covid mess. She had to get the wedge cut out and had stitches. A dog ophthalmologist had to do it because of location and size. She now has another one starting on her lower lid.

My dog also had one of those two and we were able to wait at least a year or two before getting it removed. It really didn’t grow super fast. The only reason why I got removed after a year or two is because like you said it was still small enough.

My girls Emma had the same thing but she scratched it and it started bleeding. Thankfully she is good now and the blister is now gone. I don't want her to go under since she is 12 years old.
I find it really funny that Memphis loves the vet because my childhood dog is terrified of shots and absolutely hates the vet.
I am prone to styes and eyelid lumps i have been diagnosed with blepharitis i got use a special eyelid cleanser and tablets for it

It's winter time, so she gets less sun, so yes, it's slightly darker now then it is in the summer time.

Jess, I believe you said at some point that you used to work at a McD's back in the day, so you might know what I'm talking about when I say this but, I only eat eggs 2 ways, scrambled and omelet, which is essentially the same thing as scrambled just with other flavors & stuff added in to it, but whenever I go to McD's for breakfast I'll get either an Egg Muff with a, "Folded Egg," like they put on their Sausage & Egg Biscuits, or a Sausage Muff with the, "Folded Egg," on it. Or I'll just go to BK for breakfast instead, because there I don't even have to think about it, they only use one type of egg product on their breakfast sandwiches.
Yes, I worked at McDonald's for 4 years. And yes, you can get the folded egg instead of the round egg on any of the sandwhiches, and sometimes I do!
