With being quarantined, I walk daily and my sibling's chihuahua pug enjoys the walks at a nice, steady pace. He also will afterwards collapse and act like he hasn't had any rest in days even though he sleeps and lounges around a ton.
My old coworker had part custody of his pug. He’d bring the dog to work sometime and after our "office walk" that poor thing sounded like it was dying. The tongue was too big for it’s recessive snout. I felt so bad for it. I just wanted to hook it up to an oxygen tank. It must have not been a very active dog.

100%. I've owned Dobes all my life and (along with labs, and small dogs) and the dobe is just as much a family dog as the labs were. Depends how they're raised. My female dobe was a big chicken, acted mean and tough but wouldn't hurt a fly, but was loyal and noble as they come and loved children. Intelligence reminded me of the lab though.

I have a neighbor who have a 6-8 week old pitt he was very fearful of me loved my cousin.Whoever had him must have abused him it and it took him 6 weeks to warm up to me.His was a big sweetheart.I been around many of them everyone am out and about.There are well trained.

A lot of guard dogs are family friendly dogs. Rottweilers are amazing with kids. Now sometimes they don’t know their own strength and they may accidentally knock one over, but if you train them right they’d never hurt one in a million years.

The best dog breed I've ever gotten was a Staffordshire bull terrier, they are amazing family dogs. They love kids, but are also guard dogs aswell! With a staffy, you honestly get the best of both worlds
Guard dogs in general can be great family dogs, because being a guard dog necessitates a lot of loyalty towards the owner(s), so also towards family. As long as you don't have a todler, which might get hurt due to the strength of a guard dog while playing, a guard dog should be perfectly fine with kids. If you have babies then a weaker family dog would be better though, although their temperament may vary. I have a golden retriever that didn't hurt my brother no matter what he did to him as a toddler, and if I were the dog honestly I'd have bitten him lightly for a couple of the things I've seen him do (riding him while pulling his tail without stopping even when warned, for example). However, a lot of dogs aren't as patient.
I don’t look for a particular breed or characteristic in a dog. I think some of the very best dogs are mutts with no lineage and found at your local humane shelter. They truly are. They will never forget your kindness to choose them and give them a loving home.
We had a golden retriever X Labrador when my sister was 7 months old and they grew up together. Crawling around on the floor together. We still have her and also recently got a Labrador puppy.

I've always wanted a dog since I was very little but my parents (even though they adore dogs) have been against the idea due to the commitment it takes. The best dog breed I've ever gotten was a Staffordshire bull terrier, they are amazing family dogs. They love kids, but are also guard dogs aswell! With a staffy, you honestly get the best of both worlds
Guard dogs in general can be great family dogs, because being a guard dog necessitates a lot of loyalty towards the owner(s), so also towards family. As long as you don't have a todler, which might get hurt due to the strength of a guard dog while playing, a guard dog should be perfectly fine with kids.
If you have babies then a weaker family dog would be better though, although their temperament may vary. I have a golden retriever that didn't hurt my brother no matter what he did to him as a toddler, and if I were the dog honestly I'd have bitten him lightly for a couple of the things I've seen him do (riding him while pulling his tail without stopping even when warned, for example). However, a lot of dogs aren't as patient.

I don’t look for a particular breed or characteristic in a dog. I think some of the very best dogs are mutts with no lineage and found at your local humane shelter. They truly are. They will never forget your kindness to choose them and give them a loving home.

We had a golden retriever X Labrador when my sister was 7 months old and they grew up together. Crawling around on the floor together. We still have her and also recently got a Labrador puppy.
My first ever dog was a Lab mix including Collie, Rottweiler, and a Cocker Spaniel. Well explains why he is very nice to strangers, but uses a very loud guard dog bark when he sees someone walking outside
