Thank you for reacting to this great song from an amazing band. This is 80's new wave, a subgenre of western rock music that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. It is considered a lighter and more melodic "broadening of punk culture" that usually includes the use of synthesizers.
A-ha is a Norwegian band that went to London in hope of getting a break through outside of little Norway. In London they were exposed to new wave, and they quickly understood that their own music was close to the genre. They had a very skilled keyboard player, Magne Furuholmen, who came up with one riff after another. He was actually only 14 years old when he composed the riff for Take on me. Guitarist and main songwriter Paul Waaktaar Savoy built the song around the riff along with the other two members of the band.
The video is one of the most important music videos of all time. It is made with the rotoscoping technique. It first was filmed on 35 mm, and then hand-drawn over the frames. It took four months to draw the 3,000 drawings used in the video.
The band achieved worldwide success with Take on me, and later followed up with dozens of hits in Europe, South America and to some extent Canada, Australia, South Africa and Japan. For some unknown reason, they didn't get another big hit in America, but they have their fans in America too. They have released 11 studio albums, and can still fill stadiums on every continent. They set a world record for the number of paying audiences at Rock in Rio in 1991, and vocalist Morten Harket also holds a Guinness record for the longest held note in a top 40 UK hit with 20.2 seconds in Summer moved on. I recommend you to react to the follow up, The sun always shines on TV. The video is partly a sequel to Take on me.

My favorite song and video of all time! Btw the lead singer and the girl had such great chemistry that they dated for a year after filming this!

Hi Onyin Pearl Reacts, I use to have this record back in the day. I believe it was labeled (Pop/Rock) music. My brothers called it bubble gum music they did not like it I did.
I truly love many different types of music I grew up in church so my very first time I heard music was at church Jesus hold my hand, Amazing Grace, in a land where we never grow old. And How great thou art. Plus many more I love heavy metal music country music I remember listening to all type of music It is rough to know what my favorite song is I do really love Lady Gaga Born this way. I love songs like You don't know what you got until it's gone by Cinderella band and too young to fall in love by Motley Crue, so many more songs.
Any how thanks for the video and the past memories.

Lovely video, thanks. A-Ha also wrote and performed the theme to the James Bond film The Living Daylights. [Edit, adding] There are probably better A-Ha songs besides that one. It's just prominent.
