One of my favorite covers by the modern master that is Joe Bonamassa. In my opinion, the cover exceeds and outshines the original.

Judging by the crowds non reaction - they didn't even know what song it was !!! There should have been a roar when this one started up !

@@robertmantell1700 don’t know….wish they would post the names of the performers. I’ve seen that drummer and bassist before (LOVE the bassist) but know the singer. He reminded me a bit of Paul Rodgers.

This dude would probably be more likeable if he just switch glasses and dressed a little less like a realestate agent. Throw some aviators on and some jeans. I know i'd be more onboard. Obviously to each his own and Joe's doing quite alright without my styling advice but still lol

sorry man but Joe absolutely nailed this song, knocked it out the park, and into the next city over.
I've listened to A LOT of Jimmy Page's live work, I both love & adore Page, but Joe nailed it 100% here. I'm sorry but Jimmy would be unable to replicate this in his prime. How do I know that? Because he didn't. Jimmy's work is amazingly soulful, but Joe's level of polish is unmatched; Not a stray note in sight.

    • @TheEvilDrR

@@Overlord6196 I wasn't talking ~just~ about Bonamassa - he doesn't have the band that Jimmy had. The vocals aren't anywhere near Robert's. And the drumming isn't either.
And frankly, Jimmy wrote this damn song, in his prime, and you're saying he couldn't replicate it? FFS! He could probably do so NOW and still blow Joe's doors off. Especially now, since he's cleaned himself up.
It's ALWAYS easier to cover someone else's masterpiece than it is to make your own.
I mean, I love Joe keeping the blues alive and all, I know a guy who's played with him. I've enjoyed a lot of his stuff, but I think he covers more stuff than he writes.
So don't take this personally, but this just does not have the same intensity as the original. Maybe because this is live and the Zep version is recorded, with all that entails. The original makes me wanna cry every time I hear it.
      This? Nah.

    • @TheEvilDrR

@@user-vg5wu8zq7d Well, why the hell would you cover a song if you couldn't improve on it somehow? I mean, other than making some bucks playing something someone else did better the first time?
Back in the day, I heard SRV cover Hendrix, and at first, I thought he was insane for even trying, until he killed it. Better? Doubtful. Awesome? Completely.
When someone plays a cover, they're just copying, unless they add something to the song. SRV did that, Joe? Not so much. Sorry.
This is totally NOT killing it. This adds nothing. It's just copying a better work to make a few bucks.

Playing all the stock Page licks and scales with none of the original charisma and style. Joe B. in the right time and place as there are NO mainstream blues rock guitarists around anymore. I always thought Joe was a competent yet extremely unoriginal player. This performance proves it. Nice $400,000 Les Paul burst by the way.
