Really enjoying these stories about the support people being fired from a party and them realizing just how dumb that was. Logistics people, it's important.
As Dende once said "Because you touch me, and you're not getting back up again. That's right, I'm your White Mage. And NOBODY. FUCKS. WITH THE WHITE MAGE."
I gotta admit, its a step up that they at least put in that he does silent casting and thats why the Heros Party didnt notice what he did and thats why they thought he was "useless". At least this time we get a propper explanation.
The instances of this genre I enjoy the most so far are: 1. A member of the party actially knows the value if the "useless" one and the rest of the party has to sneak around their opposition. 2. The type of support is an ongoing effect that the "useless" one is activeltly maintaining so when they get kicked out, they turn the lights off on their way out. The one variation I have not yet seen is the "useless" guy telling them off in a condescending manner for being too stupid to understand their contribution.
For the last one, there's "I quit the A-rank party" where the MC, Yoke Feldio, flips the party the bird because he's sick and tired of being treated like garbage after repeatedly and near constantly carrying them when they tell him to his face that they can do just fine without him as he's only there as a place-holder because the party leader, Simon, was his childhood friend. The party quickly starts falling apart, but Simon's a total narcissist who absolutely refuses to admit he was wrong, his so-called leadership skill is non-existent, and these so-called heroes become hateful villains in a hurry. "I Quit Being An Adventurer, No Matter How Good You Treat Me Now. I'm Never Going to Work Again" has the story of Aix, who was basically treated as a slave for 5 long and grueling years by the entire adventurer's guild. The entire town was dependent on his "Extension" perk for all his basic/novice spells and cantrips, which he can make last FOR MONTHS, but because he could ONLY cast basic spells and cantrips, the guild master loved to mock him and encouraged the guild members to do so as well, until the story begins with Aix coming in, a few minutes late, after having worked a full 24-hours before, and having collapsed from exhaustion the moment he got into the inn where he's staying. So the guild-master just summarily destroyed his licence and ordered him to beg to be reinstated as a lower rank. That's when he politely but angrily tells the guild staff to STFU and quits, startling the guild master, and the butt-kissing receptionist refuses to process his "retirement" until he completes three outstanding "emergency quests" in his name that are humiliating chores. The rest of the manga is all about the town learning just how big a mistake the guild made as karma catches up with everybody, and the local powers all try to bring him back, by hook or crook.
The problem with that last one is that, while it might be satisfying, it doesn’t endear the MC to the audience as well as being more downtrodden does. Particularly that personality type isn’t as well liked by Japanese consumers, which is why it’s rare for an MC. That’s why it’s usually attributed to the more antagonistic characters.
@@MisterPuck So for the consumers of this kind of trope, it's considered more likeable to allow someone to berate, punish, and even attack the MC for no good reason, and for the MC to act like a Stockholm Syndrome poster boy? I didn't realize that the audience for these things was so sadistic. I actually understand the Japanese consumer liking of the storyline, however. Being castigated by someone who is too stupid to understand your value, and have that person experience a downfall while you prove your immense value after getting out from under your oppressor's thumb is the wish of everyone who feels unappreciated and even abused by those in authority over them.
I like this story, it has drama, magic, mysteries going on, & action, and so I hope more gets made of it. I like the main character Loyd, I like his new friends, I like how his former allies are struggling, and I want to see more of what goes on in this manga story.

@@MangaCapped Manga Recapped covered this one last month, a bit less than you did in terms of content. I thought ActionToon had as well, but it's not there now, however, given they've started to divide their content up by presenters into other channels, perhaps it got moved to one of those. It's simply a case that happens when you cover similar content, like searching for r/Iquit and you see the same stories. Definitely reminds me of My S-rank party fired me for being a crusificer I can only make "cursed items", but they're artifact class. Basically what the title says, party didn't realize the only reason they were so powerful and he was so weak was he made their equipment, it made them way stronger and he made it so took the curse, weakened him and made it hard for him to level up. When he was fired he used dispel to remove their buffs and his curse. They can't accept they're weak and blame him sahe cursed them.
Both sides of the fake hero party and the so called s rank party were too dimwitted and being pathetically weak even weaker than a lowest ranking adventurer
There are a few manga where the "useless" member of the party is the reason the rest of the party can do anything and I have to remind myself that these aren't the same world as if the fictional characters will learn from a different fictional world lol
The irony is this happens often to support classes in Mmo's and is likely where the manga writers got the trope from.
