Previously I have done a video for people who want to start drawing, but with a lot of new subscribers from experimental videos I wanted to introduce people uninterested in drawing to why they should start drawing.
This video reiterates a few things from previous videos,, but in a perspective for someone who has little knowledge about drawing or art.

"I'm too old to start now" is only a good excuse if you're literally dead.
lmao
Or if you have terrible arthiritis
Or you work all the time and have no free time or energy. That can be a real thing.
That doesn't make you too old, that makes you too busy.
What an awful fate. I would literally rather work fast food for the rest of my life than ever have a job where I'm too busy for hobbies, no matter how much it paid
"No one has ever gotten far with just natural talent."
I have, with math and English and stuff. But when I draw, I never improve.
That's true, I used to be considered talented at drawing as a kid, but since I didn't practice, nowadays my drawing skills are nothing special, so I started trying to improve it.
@@hauntedbunnies6522 No, you didn't. You trained yourself with math by learning it over many years and using it daily.
For me, natural talent is like a headstart. You're going far at first but if you don't improve, You'll just stuck in where you are
‘Natural Talent’ or a biological advantage, can help, but it probably won’t be that noticeable, and developed natural learning abilities would likely be more noticeable and make a much larger impact. Just like he said in the video
The more you learn the better you get at learning more.
This is especially good when you’re young when brain is growing, so your trained learning capabilities will improve faster because instead of your brain changing to it, your brain develops into it, making permanent solid improvements to your learning capabilities.
Then as an adult you will be able to pick up new skills easily, almost as if you were still a kid because of your learning experience as a kid.
For those guys who says "It`s too late to start", just know

In my opinion knowing how to draw isn't the talent. The dedication, time investment and effort you put into your skills is the real talent.
Yup, definitely agree. That's basically the fact nobody talks about :D
Zar The Italian consequentially, there is a degree of talent. Maybe not in drawing, but in actually wanting to spend time drawing. And, therefore, most people aren’t going to be able to do that. If everyone could show that kind of devotion, everyone would.
@@CurlyHairedRogue yup, more of like the desire to sit down and actually draw, and even though getting disappointed and probably sucking at first, the stamina to start over again.

Ok to be fair, in my case it's more stubbornness, but hey, thanks for the confidence boost

My little sister once drew with her poop all over my window. She no longer wears diapers anymore. (thankfully)

I used to know someone who was a "natural" at drawing since she was super young. I noticed that, as time went on, she never changed her art style, and never felt like she needed to move on to different ones. I think she was afraid of the thing new artists are afraid of: being bad, so she never tried to move on and do something new and different.

im 16 and ive just started drawing about a month ago. i felt that it was way too late considering many people i knew have been drawing since they were toddlers lol. ive always wanted to draw, just felt embarrassed that i was going to fail, but not anymore. i will keep going, ill update in a few years if i ever get reminded of this video :)
don't be. You are at the right age to do it. I pick up to draw back again when I'm 23 after years of abandonment due to studies+college. Now im working as a storyboarder. Nothing is too late. Look at Bush n Jim Carrey, started around 50s i guess. And I'm super jealous of their skills. Everyone express wonderfully unique. Thus so will you. :)
Same I’ve started taking it seriously at 16 as well.
ahh the amount of god-tier 13-14 year old artists on social media manages to both intimidate me and encourage me - stick at it no matter how old you are, and explore different types of art if you feel demotivated (character art, animation, realism, etc..)!
You will probably quit. Almost everyone quits at some point. I've quit more times than I can count.
What's important is coming back. Even if you only draw for 2 months and quit for 2 years, come back to it. You will regret it for the rest of your life if you don't come back, and the moment you start again you will feel not only a weight lifted off your shoulders, but probably also much more joy than you remember ever feeling while drawing. You will also most likely be better than you ever were. I've been drawing on and off for 15 years, and it's always worth coming back to, as is anything you want to do.
"What if you took one week every day to draw the human body" - Mattias P., 2018
This is the kind of optimism I sign up for~
You know, thats not something I've ever heard anyone say before.
'Drawing is a learned skill.'
I've heard people say they were good at it, or that some people have a talent for it. But I've never actually heard someone say you can sit down and LEARN this no matter who you are.
Thanks for that.
Think about it - nobody is born able to draw, and nobody who has never drawn before is capable of drawing well. Drawing ability is not innate!
+Michael Kelly I Doubt That. Go To Your Science Class To Learn More Or Learn Science On Google Search. You'll Regret What You Just Said.
Yeah, people tell me "wow you're so talented". They don't realize how hard I had to work to get my art to that point, and in a few weeks or years, it's going to be trash in my eyes. I mean, I take the compliment though. Yes, you could say I have a natural talent of envisioning and capturing certain things. But for once I want to hear, "wow you must have worked so hard on that." (:
Max PlaysGamez - Shares Gaming Experience & Stuffs Hi Max. Can you explain why you think drawing ability is something people have at birth and/or why people who have never drawn before are able to draw well?

A pointer for beginners: you will always think your art is disappointing. I’ve been drawing for years, but lately I’m trying to improve on the basics. Anyhow, no matter how good you get at art you will always think yours is bad. Just remember how much you’ve improved since the beginning. Look back at your old art and see how much you’ve grown. That’s what matters. That you’re trying, and it’s working. Keep going, and you can only get better!
I mean, every once in a while you might have a breakthrough and produce something you're legit happy with. It's rare but it can happen. I had that happen to me last week; I was at a rather informal gathering and for much of it I just sat in the corner drawing... Didn't really have any real plans ahead of time for what I wanted to draw... At the end of the day I had reached a point in said drawing where I just thought "You know, I really think I did good on this one. I actually want to show this off to people." And so I did. And the other people in the room seemed to be genuinely impressed. So that was a good feeling. One that I don't expect I'll be experiencing terribly often.
To go along with this tip, make sure to save or preserve ALL of your work. Scan it, put it in a binder or a box or whatever.
That way in a in a month or a year or even 10 years, you can go and look back at how far you have come.
The worst part of learning an art is that it takes a lot of time and often is learned in small steps. That makes it feel like you aren't growing or achieving anything, but by having a reminder of where you were and comparing it to where you are helps show your growth, and it shows where you could grow more.
I love all my paintings and drawings, they are things that didn't exist before I made them happen! They don't often turn out as envisioned, and sometimes I'm embarrassed as soon as anyone looks at them, especially educated artists who judge as good or bad according to technical skills. It's worth pondering if this is because we are all aware of the works of geniuses and compare ours to theirs?
Everything that comes from a love of creation is good.
Thx man 😊
Unless you're a narcissist like me, drawing a stick figure and then wondering where I could sell it.
Then again, I've seen blank canvases go for millions.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
After watching this video, I realized that it really is a fear of making something ugly or messing up that's keeping me from drawing. Before this I wouldn't have said that I'm afraid to start drawing.
And if I end up being even medium-good at it, it would be amazing because I've spent years conditioning myself that I can't draw. And it's not just me, even art teachers when I was small used to tell me my drawing was bad. I mean I was just a 5 year old trying to draw some umbrellas and teddy bears
As a 23 year old who didn't draw much growing up and just looked at other people's art instead like you did, this video appeared in my recommended at perfect timing

to any beginners that just watched this video, LISTEN you don’t have to know *everything* about art like anatomy of the feet, arms, legs or anything like that!!! If you want to improve pick something that you *want* to learn not what others want you to learn and focus on that.
And it’s *absolutely* unnecessary to know any fancy words that describes you work (like structure, perspective etc.) you come across them as you learn to analyze your works, others’ works, and your surrounding as you enjoy art for what it is and not what most people want it to be.
A lot of artists that are famous have their own sense of individuality and it seems like they’ve accomplished far beyond what most people would deem as art.
Thank you, I’ve been teaching myself for the last 6 months and am overwhelmed with all the different aspects of drawing. I’ve began to just draw what I like and try to draw them better each time… much more enjoyable
Beautiful video! This is exactly why I love art so much and learning about new things. After I started photographing and learning more about it, I feel like I have a whole new perspective on life. Even when I don't have my camera with me I notice the colors, the lights and the shadows and little details that I wouldn't notice before and everything just becomes more beautiful. This also applies to of course, drawing, cooking, reading or even just learning about other artists. It's truly a shame a lot of adults don't feel like learning anything that won't bring a clear benefit to their life. Once you learn more about things and the process behind it, they have a whole new meaning and you just appreciate life a little more.

Thank you for making this!
the footage is so on point
I'm 14 and have been completely blown away by some of the amazing artworks or animations that other people my age can make. The other day I decided I'd start an animation channel. Although I feel like I'm bad at art, I can only improve if I start now, right? Thanks for making this video, I need a confidence boost.
im basically in the same situation, but im learning to draw from video game concept art :/
Will Leney oh wow I want to be a video game concept artist
Keep it up bro! Rembember, don't compare your art to others, compare your art to what you drew yesterday.
It's like leveling in a video game, you should just care about your own level and have fun :)
hi i am 15,5 and if you get better you will find out the stuff that other people in your age make is beginner stuff. And i will give you some tips first dont be sceared of making misstakes it is importent to make misstakes becaus by doing them you will see your misstakes and can fix them. A other thinge is draw every day if you want to get rly good at it if you dont feel like it draw It is very importent to be consistent. And dont watch tutorials if you dont execute them after. the last one you feel insperatet right now so you have the feeling you want to do smth but truest be this feeling will go away and you nead to be able to motivate yourself to do art. For animators you nead to learn drawing too. Sry bad enhlish i am not a native speaker
I see the world like this (5:10) because I need glasses

inspirational as always
thanks a lot for the video :D
Thanks man you're my motivation now. I'm 20 now and you've sparked something in me now.
You have the best kind of motivational videos.
Oddly enough because they're _not_ the usual kind.
The one that aims to invoke emotions with pompous yet vapid big words, which will quickly wear off like an inflated baloon.
Instead you have a grumpy, yet unadulterated matter-of-fact approach.
It doesn't embellish anything - in fact you'll call the audience out on the excuses.
But it also doesn't need to because the reasoning has an intrinsic motivational value that won't wear off.
"The one that aims to invoke emotions with pompous yet vapid big words"
I love irony
"Feet are really dumb" while Satie plays in the background is the most artistic and emotional editing choice since the dawn of RUclips
I love all the skating clips included
This video is great! Thank you guy, I really needed a motivation like I got in this video.

One week every day...
SURE, WHY NOT?!
Drongo he means In a week, whatever week you decide to choose, draw every day in that week. So pretty much draw 7 days straight for a specific thing to practice if you want to
Mechonland 11 or he just messed up? I don’t think it was that deep lol
ruby eve true, but I did it anyways cause I had way to much free time at the time
Why that much space thoooo!!!!!
I think he means an hour a day maybe
2:16 what if you took one week every day
yep that one confused me aswell xD
I think he meant one day every week
That also confused me
Haha! Thought it was my lack of english skills..
One day every week! Come on people.
So relatable... I also never saw, nor still see, really, myself as a creative person. Always use the excuse of it being too late while simultaneously really wanting to learn how to draw...
This video just hits right and I might have no option but to go grab a notebook, a couple pencils, and start doodling around.
Thanks.
Good vid. Well done. I particularly like that you also include the point that your artistic skill development also carries over into your life skill and personal development. I've noticed throughout my life this phenomenom not only applies to art, but any personal interest we pursue that involves extending ourselves, through commitment and over time.
I'm 51, and in short, have been drawing since I could hold a pencil.
'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' and 'Drawing on the Artist Within' are two very good resources for anyone who wants to really learn to accurately draw and reproduce what's before you, instead of drawing what your brain tricks you into habitually 'believing' is there.
I bought my copies over 30 years ago now, but I'm pretty sure they'd still be around.
"I'm never comfortable in the spot i'm in. I want to be better."
Those 2 lines are the whole point of a hobby. Never get too comfortable where you are or else you might stop or never improve. Even though I'm way above everyone in drawing in my school, I never get comfortable in the spot I'm in.
"What if you took 1 week every day to draw anatomy"
This is what taking a life drawing class feels like
I needed this so badly.
Thanks stranger. Needed a little confidence boost to better myself in drawing
You're welcome stranger

Him: lesson 1: children are dumb
Children's all around the world: WTH
me: I'm so glad I'm not a child anymore....
Me; I am sad that I am still an child..☠
Oh poor child
I teach my students how to draw different objects. It is good for them to learn. I’ve even had kids who were at first reluctant to try it find out that they are capable of doing it and they find themselves trying to improve. I know this will help them later in life for the reasons you’ve explained. Also the kids get a huge boost of encouragement and nothing makes me happier than to see them realize what they are capable of.
I went to school for painting at age 26. Its funny to look back and think how embarassed I was to be an "older" art major. I assumed I was way past the cut off line to start doing art. So glad I decided to face my fears, its also helped me come out of my comfort zone in so many other aspects of my life.
27 here - I'm curious, did you end up able to paint well?
I'm 21, used to draw a lot as a kid, but because of school, I dropped out of it. Now I want to go back to drawing, I've lost all of my abilities, I need to learn back from scratch, but I'll try anyway.
School really is your enemy when it comes to creativity. Having a lot of homeworks, people laughing at you for what you do, it's not something you can ignore with ease as a kid...
I've been studying computers and stuff for almost 6 years now, and I still don't feel like I want to do that for a living, so I'll just try one thing after another until I find something I want to do, being good at it or not.
Anyway, all of that to say, thank you for your comment, it gave me a bit of courage to not give up on myself yet.
Also great vid, to that guy who made it.
@@Raan-Shi Im 22, I draw all my life, and my career is not related about art, but im too shy to be "e-famous" right now, I practice everyday for one hour, I admire a lot of artists and designers..dont give up
most important dont feel pressure to be "a sucesfull instagram artist"
@@mimim102 That's not what I'm trying to become, but I think criticism is important to improve. Kids are mean, Internet is too. I'll probably post them for my friends so they can tell me what I should focus on to improve.
@@Raan-Shi I think is better if you take criticism from a teacher or a professional, you can paid a pro on patreon if you don't want criticism from strangers :)
I’ve drawing since I was 3
I’ve drawn and ANIMATED (including tweens) so much that it’s unhealthy for me
And I’m not stopping
Just Gabe if drawing and animating ever becomes to much or you just don’t want to don’t feel bad if you need to take a break.
Yay me too! I held a pen in my hand when I was only two, but hitting that on important documents (for kindergarten) is not really what I would call drawing :0
Any reason is good enough
Me: “drawing hentai characters count too?”
Of course
All people are weird, love hentai; draw that. Love horror, draw that. Love furries, draw that. Noting wrong with it.
yes
@@AnimeNewsRadio101 screw those furries
That's literally the only reason/strongest motivation for my ass to pick up the pen again.
Awesome video, thank you!

I uhh... I messed up...
lmao lol
Mattias Pilhede what did you mean though? because I feel like I'm high rn
no name he probably meant a day a week
I made a presentation about "talent" a couple months ago, this is basically it applied to art.
I love how I totally agree with you every time, but the way you say it sounds so much better than what I was thinking...
You're a great artist and I don't even mention your drawing
Thankyou. You gave me inspiration to keep skating after quiting for 2 years❤️. I can still learn.
Thanks for this video, I really needed it.
