Some of the international brigade were germans, Brits, french, Canadians, americans and even mexicans.

During the Spanish Civil War, there wasn't really a good guy side. For every war crime committed by the nationalists, the communists did something similar, if not the exact same thing.
Nationalists are the bad guys.
