Gene Kelly and Bing Crosby sing and joke together on radio, 1944

Bing and Gene were very good friends and kept up a letter correspondence for decades.
One of the two radio appearances the two made together on a December 6th on a radio show hosted by Bing called "The Victory Bond Show" where Gene makes a very short appearance to promote war bonds.
The 2nd occasion- which is the one uploaded here- is Gene being a guest on Bing's regular radio show where he jokes a bit around with Bing and Marilyn Maxwell, then does a sketch with Bing and sings together with him. It was the show on May 4th, 1944. It was after the big success of "Cover Girl"(1944), with which Gene achieved a major breakthrough. At the end of the half-an-hour show Bing sings "Long Ago And Far Away", a song which has been made famous by Gene Kelly and Rita Hayworth in this film.

Wow, just Wow! I didn't think such recording existed. I looked for that for many years. Bing and Gene are my all time favorite and I had given up looking for both of them together. This is even the first photo(and it seems the only one that exists) of them together. Thank you very much for uploading it, man!

Hi! Bing and Gene are also my all time favorites!🙌🏼 But it isn't the only photograph that exists of them. When I uploaded this video the one in it was the only I could find back then, but by now I have also found two others from the exactly same radio session and also another one from 1968, which includes Bing, Gene and Bing's wife Kathryn. Incidentally, according to Gene's widow, Bing and Gene were in active letter contact and were good pals.

@@ep8324 Wow, that is amazing! I also exchanged some messages with Patricia. I definitely wanna see those photos. I will send you an email later today. I really thought Gene and Bing weren't pals at all, since I could never find anything of them together. I thought it was pretty odd since everybody knew everybody during that golden Era. it was a very pleasant surprise.
