It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you I still hear you sayin', "Dear one, hold me fast" And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last" We seemed to float right through the air Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you I still hear you sayin', "Sweet child, hold me fast" And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"
Seems like a good guess, however Les (to my ears, anyway) always seems to be bursting out of his 'accompaniment zone" with an overwhelming abundance of slick licks 'n tricks which, in spite of whatever flashiness they may possess, appear to exist soley for their own virtuosity - and, have very little, if anything at all, to do with any of the Bing/Les Paul collaborations. In this recording, the guitar (which is not electric, in this case) fits quite nicely, along with the melody and arrangement, overall. So, if it is Les Paul - he's playing 'within the boundaries' here in order to complilment and fullfill his role as the soloist - instead of getting lost in a flurry of technique - or perhaps, as a flash-in-the-pan, so to speak. Not to detract from his talent, necessarily - only that, in spite of their friendship - I simply have never felt that Les and Bing's musical gifts complimented each other, in any of their recordings together.
Your assessment definitely makes some sense, @@ZooxMaze. My main reason for asking is that it sounds like what I know he did play in the accompaniment of "It's Been a Long Long Time".
@@ericbgordon1575 Les has CHET ATKINS playing along with him on the same arrangement of "It's Been a Long, Long Time", which he and Bing recorded. Only in this alternative verison, Bing's vocals are not present. This time it's a guitar feast... and, instead Les and Chet, perform as a duo all the way through !! So, if you like Les already - you're going to be over the moon with him and Chet, dual it out !! One of 'em goes a little out of tune in the final riffs ! But, it sounds like they're just, almost goofing around and having fun - anywhoo, you'll soon see for yourself how rambunctious it is !! Cheers
we had to sing this song in choir, personally the only song i liked ive spent like 8 years looking for this song
i keep coming back
Just wonderful
It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Dear one, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"
We seemed to float right through the air
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere
And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue
I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you
It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Sweet child, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"
Bing sings it so smooth & romantic - like he always sang every song. The 1st crooneris still 1st. Thanks.
