    Sweet system!
    I have Lp s that I first heard with my father also.

    Great sounding system, i think the warmth of the turntable and electronics has nicely balanced out the slightly clinical nature of the KEF's. Bravo 🤓

    How is Gold note's turntable performing after few years? I'm choosing between Pianosa and Thorens TD1601.

      Do turntables have a deterioration over the years? At first they need ( all gear) break in time.... I personally have no real experience with turntables, that’s why I ask... thanks

      Still running perfectly, very solid and stable sound

  • @bikemike1118
    @bikemike1118 3 года назад +1

    Have you tried different turntables before deciding for the Goldnote ? I can imagine that upfront evaluation is quite hard to do as the dealers won’t lend you turntables to try in your own chain, do they?

    • @gustoaudio8711
      @gustoaudio8711  2 года назад +2

      I’ve owned a fair few and heard a lot more over the years but yeah, it’s more difficult to compare turntables side by side outside of a very dedicated demo that a dealer would have needed to spend a lot of time setting up as there’s so many variables. I’ve got a Rega P8 in another system, I wanted something quite different. The Gold Note is a bit more expensive (even more since the price increases around 2019/20) but definitely looks and feels the money. I love the P8 too though aesthetically and sonically, for the price it sounds fantastic. Without comparing with like for like cartridges, the Rega is maybe a bit more exciting, could say a bit more rock n roll, the Gold Note is richer, more elegance and solidity. It might sound silly but one of the attractions for me was the hinged lid, you don’t find many premium turntables with that.

    Is there a cartridge fitted when you buy the giglio? Nice setup, I have also quad gear, artera play and elite qsp 👌🏻

      @gustoaudio8711  4 года назад

      Janis No, Gold Note don’t have factory fitted cartridges. They’re hardly plug and play either compared to something like Rega or Pro-ject

    i also have a Goldnote Pianosa and the PH-10 Phono with Donatello Gold MC ; you maybe should try Donatello Red , or Gold; it would fit well with your Giglio !! You don't think you should also upgrade your speakers ?? The Giglio and the PH10 really deserve better speakers !

      System has changed a few times since then, currently using it with Heed electronics (Obelisk, Quasar) and speakers (Enigma 5), very happy!

      Still using a Vasari Gold but hoping to get my AT33PTGii retipped soon. Might look at the Donatello Gold in future, if the Vasari Gold MM is anything to go by, I know it will be great!

    Hi, I see you had a Rega P3 before this stunning turntable. I have the P3 with the Nagaoka MP110 also, but thinking about the Giglio, is it a lot better?.

    • @gustoaudio8711
      @gustoaudio8711  2 года назад

      Yes it is better technically, Gold Note has more solidity to its sound that reminds me of a direct drive, certainly very well suited for classical type music where the Rega sound is maybe a little more freewheeling rock n’ roll. P3 will of course partner with some top quality cartridges and phono stages and punches well above its price range. I have a P8 now, amongst others

      I have just bought Ph10 and psu.. IT is better connect this preamp. with XLR cable or thru RCA? My amp has XLR .

    Is speed adjustable? Is the power supply a separate unit?

    • @gustoaudio8711
      @gustoaudio8711  2 года назад

      Yes speed is adjustable using the 33/45 buttons in some sort of combination, can’t remember how off the top of my head. There’s a wall wart power supply and the option of a (quite expensive) more advanced offboard power supply (PSU-10)

    Hi if you really want to get the BEST SOUND out of those Kef LS50's you need a higher wattage amp. I used Arcam FMJ19, Yamaha A-S2100, to a Yamaha A-3000 which sounded okay but could not be played at low volumes tell I bought a Athem Integrated 225w amp. Yes you can run these speaker with low wattage but they do not really sing tell you give them juice. I can play anything at very low volume and still get mid range and bass with a HUGE sound stage. Why do you think they put 230w into each LS50 wireless speaker? If you really like the sound of the LS50 then your next speaker you should looko at is a Dynaudio Special 40 sounds just like the LS50 but way way better overall in sound. Just got done listening to CHUCK MANGIONE Children of Sanchez with the Special 40 tweeter is one of the best on the market.

      Lu(ky I’ve tried them with many different amps and find its the quality of the watts that counts, not the quantity. For class AB or class D yes more watts makes a difference. The Quad Artera Solus is AB and rated 80w but with high current and sounds good for an all in one. The best sound I’ve had at home though with the LS50’s was a 5.5w SET amp, the G Lab Block (no ordinary amp). Next best after that was the 50w Heed Obelisk si3, almost as good for €3400 less. The synergy with the Obelisk is fantastic and those 50w are like valve watts, it drives anything with ease even without the X2 power supply. I’m going to try Heed Thesis components next, Lambda, Pi & Gamma

    este note ph-10 se que es una previo excelente pero no quiero molestarle pero altavoz de rango completo le entra todo graves medios y agudos en el mismo creo que es la peor combinación posible se oye mucho medio no soporto el sonido metalico he visto videos en donde este previo luce muy bien pero soy yo no soporto la zona media mas adelantada

      LS50 realmente necesitan un subwoofer en una sala más grande. Me mudé de casa con ellos a una habitación más grande, por lo que no eran ideales. Era un piso y pensé que sería un problema añadir uno. Me hubiera gustado probar el pequeño Kef KC62 con ellos pero no estuvo disponible cuando los tenia.
      Yo también estoy de acuerdo, no soy fanático de los tweeters de metal. Después de LS50 usé Rega RX3, varios de Ophidian y Heed Enigma y mucho los prefiero a todos.

      It’s the recording, a crappy recording on a 100 k system will still sound awful, whereby a great recording on a modest system will sound great. Garbage in garbage out.
