I'm 47. Was an 80s kid and about 7 or 8 when this came out and it was instantly my favorite movie (mine and so many others my age). I watched it again and again throughout my childhood and it's fun watching new people react to it. Glad y'all enjoyed it!
This was Steven Spielbergs Indiana Jones movie for kids. I remember seeing it at the theater in the mall. Nicest one I can remember from my childhood and they tore it out. Was such a shame
It's Chunk, not chunks. He retired from acting a couple of years after this and later became an entertainment lawyer, and one of his clients is the actor that plays Data.
Such a long time ago. Back then when I was a kid in upstate NY, we would literally get on our bikes and try to find ANYTHING. Adventure, building forts and bike jumps. The movie studios recognized this and made Star Wars, E.T., and Indiana Jones to market US! Not the parents etc, but throw in John Williams and we were all hooked! Its been awhile since Ive seen Chunk do his thing.:) Thanks from Plattsburgh. NY.
Loved this reaction! Let's do others, please! Goodies is such a fun movie... Fantastic actors that have grown up on the screen: The kid that played Data also played Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Great actor. He's now won an Academy Award (Oscar). Brandon was played by Josh Brolin. Known for his portrayal of a young Agent K in the Men In Black series and Thanos in the Marvel Universe films. Of course, we can't forget Sean Astin. [This was his first film. His dad (John Astin) played Gomez Addams on the TV series The Addams Family.] The world knows Sean as Samwise from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Oh my goodness! How have you not seen this! I am an adult with teen kids now and they have seen it almost as many times I did as a child lol 😂 still love it!!!
👍🙂❤️ YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! This is probably the 20th time I’ve watched y’all react to The Goonies. I know it has been taken down at LEAST 10 times since your first posting a year ago. But you keep reposting and I keep watching. Thanks for sharing your videos with us. This is definitely one of my favs. 👍🙂❤️
The house in this movie is famous. They are currently redoing the inside of the house to look like it did in the movie. The jail the Fratelli was in is now a Goonies museum. A lot of people make the trek to do the Goonies tour through town. I think they even have like a yearly fan fest there or something.
Don't worry about talking to much. I own a copy of Goonies and can watch it whenever I want. I think most people watch reactions because, it's the closest we can get to watching it for the first time. So please, talk, react and tell us what your thinking and feeling; it's why we're here.
This was a movie signpost for me. On the road of our life we have like signpost along the way that defined your childhood. And a few milestones that you could say like was your childhood. This was a milepost movie sign for the 80s I think. It really sort of defined gen x in our teen years. And who brought us those movies? John Hughes. Rip to a legend in defining a big part of my generation.
Always chuckled about the “B flat” reference. Even as a kid who had just started taking piano lessons, I knew that A sharp and B flat are the same note. 😅
I do enjoy movie reactions, and this is a great pick to start from. Glad you liked it too. The Goonies is a movie we watch as a fam over the holidays, that Elf and Christmas Vacation. So just watched it. 😁 More please! 🤩✌🏽
My kids were only 2 when this came out so I didn't see it until it was on vhs. I mostly watched it to see how young Josh Brolin did in it since I grew up watching his father on tv and in movies. His father James Brolin is in the original Westworld movie. I had also seen Data's actor Ke Huy Quan in Indiana Jones & Temple of Doom the year before and thought he was adorable.
That greatest movie for my generation!! Loved watching you guys watching this, but no, part 2, it gives you the opportunity to come up with your own conclusions for each person! Loved that!!
The Goonies is a classic and beloved film. You did great, no worries (though his name is Chunk, not Chunks 🙂). Just try to do your talking when there's no dialogue, and keep your eyes on the movie even when talking, so you don't miss anything. Other than that, just give people an honest reaction, and you'll do great. I grew up in NW Oregon and SW Washington. The town is Astoria on the NW Oregon coast at the mouth of the Columbia river. The ocean scene with the large rocks is Haystack Rock, about 20 miles down the coast from Astoria, in Cannon Beach. I've been both places many times. It's a beautiful historic maritime town, much of which is on hills with great views. There's a film history there, too. Besides Goonies, Kindergarten Cop with Schwarzenegger was filmed there, as was Short Circuit with Ally Sheedy. There's a film museum in the old jail buiding from the beginning of the movie. You can also see the Goonies house (from the outside), and apparently the current owners are ok with it (which hasn't always been the case with previous owners). The whole area is gorgeous. You should visit sometime.
FYI, "Goondocks" came from the "bundok" the Filipino word for mountain. The American soldiers that came back from the Filipino American war brought the words back.
One of our Favorites!! You should watch 4 of our other family favorites (from more to less well known): Galaxy Quest, Newsies, Lost Boys, and The Last Dragon
Back in late 60s as high school senior we use to go in cooler of grocery stores and did not tip the whip cream canister but suck the compressed gas to get high . It was filled with nitrous oxide in other words LAUGHING GAS .
It's just Chunk. There's no s at the end unless you're using the possessive. For example, if he was to buy a restaurant, it would be Chunk's Terry Black's.
I was born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's this movie was an icon of the time period. It's certainly top 10 of the 80's era, top 3 with some. Movies and shows had more positive themes back then, heroes always won, there was almost always a lesson taught , good always won in the end. Then the Grey scripts began to arrive in the 90's...wich has its place to. But there seemed to just be more optimism back then, at least for me. Never would have imagined the world as it is back then. Now we are something out of a bad fiction novel....oh like from George Orwell! Cough wink!
If you are familiar with the Lord of the Rings movies, the main kid with the older brother is Sean Astin....he plays Samwise Ganges (spl?) in the LOTR series; parents were famous actors.
So I think a lot of people will notice that this movie feels like Stranger Things - because Stranger Things was an amalgamation of all of the childhood "coming of age" films that were released in the 80s + 80s horror.
Have you ever watched 37:0137:0137:0137:01 (E.T. The Extra Terestrial)? If not, you should, it was made around the same time as Goonies. It was the most popular movie for about two years. Its still popular. It is such a warm hearted film. I don't want to tell you what it's about because I will ruin it for you
Hey James, I don't know where's your mother is at tonight, but if she wants to try a new recipe, New Orleans red beans and rice is really good. We usually eat it with a side of link sausage, fried chicken, or fried pork chop. Some of her homemade cornbread is good with that dish. We eat red beans on Mondays. Y'all can go back to y'all's movie now, I was just wondering what she got cooking!
Rumors long flew about a sequel happening, but I don't think it's really something that is seriously in the pipeline. That aside, this was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and is still something I always enjoy watching.
The movie has quite a cult following. My daughter used to work in the jail because it is the Oregon Film Museum. The Fratelli's car is usually parked out front. Bullet holes and all. Astoria is a wonderful town. Named after John Jacob Astor who established Fort Astoria in the 1800's. He died on the Titanic. Another fun movie filmed in Astoria is Kindergarten Cop. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in it.
This particular movie was not my cup of tea but thank you for reacting to old American movies again. Maybe movies like this will help you understand why American are like we are. Also, try Stand Be Me (1986) or Pleasantville (1998).
Just my opinion on the question if you are talking too much to the point WE can’t follow the movie 1 don’t be too concern if someone does complain about that…. As a person around those actors age…being 12 years old when this came out…always loved this movie. Being a kid in the 1980s was awesome.

I'm 62 and STILL love watching this movie! I even have the DVD!
The Goonies a all time classic movie a must see!
So many famous kid actors in this movie.
Gen-X staple 💪🔥 great fun.. great album from Cyndi Lauper that year too for the soundtrack.
The music video has added scenes with the characters.
This movie is so AWESOME! I miss being young and adventurous. I live in Astoria Oregon USA! Where it was filmed.
This was Steven Spielbergs Indiana Jones movie for kids. I remember seeing it at the theater in the mall. Nicest one I can remember from my childhood and they tore it out. Was such a shame
"For kids"? There was bad language in it! I still have my recording off the Disney channel where they cut that out
Nice touch putting Small Round in it.
We were just in Astoria in the summer, visited the goonies museum.
It's Chunk, not chunks. He retired from acting a couple of years after this and later became an entertainment lawyer, and one of his clients is the actor that plays Data.
I think Chunks should've been canon lol
I remember taking my kids to see this at the theatre when it came out. They're at all pushing fifty now.
Such a long time ago. Back then when I was a kid in upstate NY, we would literally get on our bikes and try to find ANYTHING. Adventure, building forts and bike jumps. Goodies is such a fun movie... Fantastic actors that have grown up on the screen:
The kid that played Data also played Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Their reaction to One eyed Willie's ship was the first time they ever saw the ship👍🏼
I'm 70 and still watch when it's on tv.
I'm 54 and my husband just got me an anniversary edition on Blu Ray.
Such a classic and a great message!
You guys should also watch Stand by me, if you haven't seen it. It's so good
Classic movie flub when the fratelli guy is singing in the car, but his lips aren't moving in the mirror's reflection. 😄😄😄😄
Such a classic! This was one of my favorite movies growing up❤
The channel "Your New Zealand Family" posted a video about a month ago where they visited the places where "The Goonies" was filmed.
Beat me to it👍😜
I love that family. I am going to New Zealand next summer. I can't wait!
Better not say their name, they like to copywrite strike other channels. I believe they have hit this channel with a strike in the past.
@@LancerX916 yes. they're hypocrites. stopped watching them.
@@noonespecial3878 Same here. Copyright strike'd other channels for doing what they did to build their own channel.
Oh my goodness! How have you not seen this! I am an adult with teen kids now and they have seen it almost as many times I did as a child lol 😂 still love it!!!
Sloth was played by NFL Defensive End John "Tooz" Matuzak, who played American football in the 1970s.
Classic. I had that on VHS and wore it out.
Yup when I was 8 we went and rented the VHS from
Family video lol
So happy you two watched this classic! It's my favorite movie 🤗
👍🙂❤️
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!

Agree.. it's a fun watching clip.. I've rewatched it several times too.
I actually have a doormat that says first you do the truffle shuffle.
First of all, I don’t think Corey Feldman’s character could read 300 year old Spanish- and then when he translated, somehow it rhymes in English! 😂
I'd never considered that 😂😊
The house in this movie is famous. They are currently redoing the inside of the house to look like it did in the movie. The jail the Fratelli was in is now a Goonies museum. I’m almost 40 and this is a childhood classic. My kids are into it now and it’s neat to see
This was filmed in a small town in Oregon. You can visit many of the sites. The older brother later played Thanos in Marvel films.
This was a movie signpost for me. On the road of our life we have like signpost along the way that defined your childhood. And a few milestones that you could say like was your childhood. I was in Astoria Oregon the beginning of the year. Absolutely love the area. They have pics of the cast in some stores . Really cool!
This is one of my favourite movies it's brilliant i can watch this over and over and I'm 51 now
That greatest movie for my generation!! Loved watching you guys watching this, but no, part 2, it gives you the opportunity to come up with your own conclusions for each person! Loved that!!
The actor who plays Mikey is Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee in LOTR / Bob Newby in Stranger Things.
"Sloth LOVE Chunk"💖 GEN-X classic!

Y NZ Family did a fun video of visiting the filming locations in Oregon if you haven't seen it.
I'm 53 and I just bought tickets to see the 40th anniversary of it's release in theaters
Back in late 60s as high school senior we use to go in cooler of grocery stores and did not tip the whip cream canister but suck the compressed gas to get high . It was filled with nitrous oxide in other words LAUGHING GAS .
You can still visit all the neighborhoods, businesses, houses and caves if you are ever in Oregon...
It's just Chunk. There's no s at the end unless you're using the possessive. For example, if he was to buy a restaurant, it would be Chunk's Terry Black's.

They may be making a pt 2. It's been talked about a lot lately. Apparently the cast wants to do it.
Great reaction!
I was born in 70 and was a tad old when this came out (14 or 15) but still went because, cmon its Spielberg and Chunk.

Great movie, great watch with you - well done!
Any Indiana Jones or back to the futures.
The movie has quite a cult following. My daughter used to work in the jail because it is the Oregon Film Museum. The Fratelli's car is usually parked out front. Bullet holes and all. One Eyed Willy meant the same thing in the States as it did to you. It was a subversive joke that adults would get, but kids wouldn't.
Maybe it wasn't released in the UK then..? But yea...fun classic..especially if you were (approx) 8-15yo at the time.
This particular movie was not my cup of tea but thank you for reacting to old American movies again. Maybe movies like this will help you understand why American are like we are. Also, try Stand Be Me (1986) or Pleasantville (1998).
Good reaction! A really cute movie. 👍
A timeless movie love it
A weird piece of info....I graduated from high school in 1985 when this was made.
BTW Bats are not birds (in fact other than flying they are completely different including live birth, not eggs).
18:32 No reacters ever get this. He's a spoiled rich kid crying for his daddy.
Mikey is thw actor that many years later played in The Lord of the Rings as Sam
And Mikeys big brother is Thanos His name Is Josh Brohlen. He also played in Secario
I think you two would like the movie Snow dogs. It’s very family friendly.
What's up guys from America?

Would you be up to react to videos of Americans reacting to the state of England? People thrown in jail for social media comments?
Does James have a speech impediment?
Assuming you haven't already seen it, will there be a reaction to The Lord of the Rings?
you should watch the movie ... stand by me .
Rummer is they are making another one...Why?
I dont even like this movie im just watching cuz im stoned lol
Fillmèd by me..
you all dont need to blur a kids movie... i mean really....
If you're doing more stick to classic 80s films
