The stripes, belt, and the cheeks are understandable since it's features of spongebob, but the 3D eye shape, hat, and bending arms were not fundamental to representing the character. People were being extra.
as an artist i love constructive criticism cause it helps you improve ... even tho sometimes it feels like a punch to the guts you've to listen to in order to improve XD
