I just went down a rabbit hole with this one. It seems like if you get the version that doesn't come with paint and glue, it comes with the option of link and length separate tracks, is more accurate (bow machine gun delete) and comes with a bunch of stowage. It seems to use the same box art though. I only figured this out by buying the simple one by mistake. I think this applies to the Tiger they released at the same time too. All the hatches are closed on both Versions. You can see the instructions on the scalemates website. Your model looks great!
built this same kit last year, (also from lidl), to say its an entry level kit, it looks pretty good when painted, and those one piece tracks are a lot easier than the old "rubber band" ones. one thing i found out after I had built mine is that the bow machine gun (next to the driver) wasn't fitted to Sherman firefly tanks, left it on mine anyway because it looks cool!
Looks great, especially for a fiver ... although my visits to discount supermarkets never seem to coincide with any good special bargains, unless you like furry slippers or crap tools 😕
I am happy to see you repost this video. I am just finishing off making this model and I had been looking for this review. The paints are indeed a bit gloopy but adding water really helps to make the paints workable.
It’s a basic kit intended for newbies/kids - not particularly accurate (eg Fireflies didn’t have a bow gun) but an easy and fun build. Great value, great for what its trying to do, but experienced modellers should look elsewhere.
Sorry, but I was never an Airfix builder. I’m one who was born with disabilities that stopped me from even considering kit modelling of any type other than Scaledale kits that just slot together.
@@nedlooby7419And Airfix managed to get it wrong, whoever was responsible for researching the tank before Airfix did the moulds didn’t do his or her job, and normally Airfix are quite good when it comes to getting it right, the Firefly didn’t have a hull machine gun position, it was plated over and the space used for ammunition.

I made one of these a few weeks ago. I was sceptical of the one-piece wheel/track parts at first but painted up it looks the business.

OK, I'm wrong/confused about the hull machine gun delete. It's not even that clear on their instructions. Easier enough to add the mod though. :-)

Looking good! Love a Firefly.

Looks good! That would work equally well as a gaming piece or when you need background vehicles in a diorama.
Fab wee model. Made it years ago as a kid...made it again as an adult...😊
Great build and result.
Thank you! Cheers!
You were lucky to get one reduced, all the Lidls around by me sell out of the airfix kits pretty quick when they have them.
Nice model!! Great if you want to make an 0 gauge wartime layout.
0 gauge? Surely you mean 00
I used Humbrol paints to customise my boring blue Hercules Hunter bicycle. It looked much better after each session.

"Today we're going to be making this Sherman Tank..."
-steady on there, that's guaranteed to get demonetised! 😂

Its a MATCHBOX Sherman. Airfix never made a Firefly
This is a new tool ind the last 5 years

The weathering looks really effective. On so many models it's overdone for my taste. Best wishes.
