It's "dagga boy", not "dugga boy". The word 'dagga' refers to 'mud'. Old Cape Buffalo bulls, pushed out of the herd by younger, stronger prime males often hang around in small 'bachelor' herds. They often can be seen around water holes and roll around in mud, sometimes appearing covered with the stuff. So a dagga boy is an old bull, past it's prime, no longer breeding. They are the ones to hunt without reducing breeding or the passing on of quality genetics. As the oldest bulls, they have a massive boss where the two horns meet in the middle, creating the solid, thick distinctive sign of old age. And like a lot of the really old boys in my neighborhood, they tend to be cranky, easily upset and "stare at you like you owe them money". Definitely not to be trifled with. "Old age and treachery beats youth and strength every time." Except when it comes to the ladies. And they are all the more cranky because of it. Approach with extreme caution. Carrying a rifle in .404 Jeffery is strongly advised.
Great hunt, and a lovely trophy. But why is every buffalo shot out of a herd called a "dugga-boy"!! Strictly speaking, dugga-boys are those bulls ejected from herds who thereafter live solitary lives, or, with 2-3 other dugga-boys. A true dugga-boy hunt is a VERY different proposition to taking out a herd bull!
I don´t understand the first shot. If you miss or get full penetration, you will wound other buffs! The second shot is also with other buffs behind, but this is a different story as backup shot.
In a condition as this hunt, the first bullet would be a soft point so that there is no pass through. Second shot would/could be a solid because the wounded bull would be separated from the heard. No, doesn't always work out like that, but generally
Because microphones can't capture the actual sound accurately. That's why in movies the sound of guns being fired is dubbed in, and is often a synthesized sound.
Because the term "Dugga Boy" sounds cool. It's like how these clients carry their rifles "African" style over the top of their shoulders because it's a "When in Rome..." kind of thing. But anywhere else they use a sling to carry their rifles. It's just theater. This is an advertisement for the Heym rifle, so Dugga Boy sounds so much cooler than "herd bull".
Great hunt.....but still being a hunter myself i never understand the holding your rifle over your shoulder muzzleing everyone in front of you...also much harder to get it up and ready if you get charged....smh..looks cool i guess but super dangerous.
true drakey as I understand it it’s a throwback to when you had gun bearers. The bearer walked ahead of the hunter with the rifle over his shoulder so it was available instantly to the hunter without the hunter having to carry the rifle. Particularly for the larger calibre rifles which could weigh over 15 pounds (soaking up recoil).
The great hunters are shaking hands over the deadbody of the bufflo lying already there....for a long time ,it appears...who killed it nobody knows...😄😄😄
Same can be said for the chickens, sheep and pigs you eat that were slaughtered - for your convenience, consumption and exploitation - at your local abbatoir!! 😘👍
Good work and great caliber. I shot many Buffalo with my 404 .
Nice shooting, excellent cartridge the .404.
Love how he hunts with a combination iron sights and a scoped magazine rifle and making decisive decisions accordingly. Good hunter.

Nice work. I was looking at the 404 jeffrey for a storey I am writing and it seems to be an underutilised cartridge.
Good it's a very affective round indeed!!
Very well done.
The 404 Jeffery weird it's not loud sounds weak but packs a huge punch weird
I'm sorry, less i missed it. Assuming the 'Express' was the 404? Many Thanks
Great hunt. Thanks for sharing!
Hum. Somewhat confusing. The double is a Heym in Jeffery, or the bolt which as actually used?????

Absolutely true.
@@beardedbjorn5520 we tend to think they same of any non US citizen. Who happens to come here and uses the wrong phrase.
a good reason not to buy a double?

How is this a Dugga Boy?
What caliber rifle is the PH using?
460 weatherby
What’s on the wrist?
Good hunting
Job well done
The PH's rifle has the proper barrel length SHORT!
Hunter shoots with other buffalo behind every time, not very professional.
Sooo the rifle sounds like a pop gun why??

That’s a great bull
I would wear special boots in that grass
Shoots a bull from a herd, calls it a Dugga Boy. 🤔 hmm 🤔
I agree!! Pathetic how every client thinks he's taken a "dugga boy" - when in fact it's a herd bull!! 🙄
Absolutely true mate. Like to your comment

He muzzles the tracker so many times. Don’t rely on your safety pal.
Hunters should carry their own weapons…if you can’t because it’s too heavy…you should hunt
THAT WAS A VERY IRRESPONSIBLE SHOT, WITH THE WHOLE HERD BEHIND THE ANIMAL BEING SHOT.
And this is hunt?
Bolt action Heym ?
Yes, the Heym "Express", introduced in 2013.
