Yes Robben is an amazing guitar player. But, the best part about him is his personality. He has zero ego and he looks like he genuinely likes helping others. I wish more people were like him...
I met him briefly a long time ago and he was very friendly and a really nice person. It was outside in front of the place he was playing out on the sidewalk. I was in a small group of people and someone said something to him as he was passing by and he joined our conversation.
Wow..this so good…very catchy rhythm, bass line is smooth, the vocal is good, the drummer is good and robben is very talented guitar player…overall it the best rock song I heard so far this year 2024…
Freddy taught us all so much, the energy, the fast shuffle, he got me to playing guitar in 1961 and after several beaters i was able to save up for a brand new Telecaster in 1966 w/ hard case for under 200 bucks, played it thru a Gibson Vanguard amp w/ a single 15" Jensen speaker, great combo.
Been listening over and over. The most inspiring phrasing in a guitar solo ever. Forced me to study and learn some licks - such an awesome recording and tone...

You can obviously tell that he is exploring NEW ideas (not used up licks) right there live for thousands of views. How wonderful! A true solo improvisation in every tune.
@@tovarisch2788 Obviously. 🤦♂️ But, in the title, the word "Cannonball" is spelled incorrectly with only one "L". At first glance, I thought it said "Cannibal", too. Some people just don't have a simple sense of humor anymore.
I had the privilege to play at the same ball room in the the late 60s early 70s when robin ford was playing for Jimmy Witherspoon. The ballroom was in Monterey CA. And called The San Carlos ballroom (now gone). They headlined that night . My band W. Spider blue's band played first.I believe Charlie Musselwhite and his band were playing too.Long time ago but what a night. I play harmonica!
i was lucky enough to grace the Stage with Robben at a reunion show Jam in Campbell,Ca. in the 80's. i was on stage with my Sax and we did "Stormy Monday" of course i did a solo on this one.
Robben says he thinks of himself as fundamentally a blues player, and he is, but he brings so much more to his playing than about 99% of the blues players out there now.
Because like a jazz guy he uses Tritone subs and diminished runs and 4th voicings over the V7 chords.......check out Jimmy Herring .... 'scapegoat blues'.....you will see what I mean
So Great to meet you WOW SO GREAT,Can't understand how I missed ever knowing about this Man.So good,And Love The Texas Cannionball ......Oh I'm in love.
RF continues to do what he does best - 'play the $*#@ out of his guitar!' i read somewhere he was inspired by Mike Bloomfield as a young player to do just that ... and he still does it better than anybody on the planet. Long may you run RF ...
i remember ...waiting at buddie guys legends...in 1995......to see robben....and .this texas lookin dude with the most beat up slide guitar that ive ever seen...came on first,...called ROY ROGERS...we never heard of him back then...but he BLEW OUR MINDS...ROY ROGERS IS JUST.....SOMETHIN ELSE....
A friend of mine has a story bout Roy, my buddy opened up for him, solo slide guitar. Walkin off stage when done Roy looked at him and said F*&k you Nick! Nick said it was the best compliment he had ever received. :)
It’s funny, if I just heard the audio I’d swear he was ripping that beautiful Tele of his ! Got a bit more hollowness to the sound, but 100% Robben Ford 😌
cherry red faded nice neck inlays double mickey mouse horns...love it! I miss my 71 Cherry Es 335 with nylon saddles. Too bad the frets and nut width and binding aren't ideal. Minor things that make you fight for your solo and hinder total board freedom like at 2:47. He is missing his full scale length tele neck.

I agree with your coment!!
True masters are never egocentric ......and are nice persons .
Best comment ever. I have seen him live. He is otherworldly
absolutely true, the living master of blues jazz and humble. His music getsa into your heart and I believe that's because of authenticity and honesty

Love it when Robben gets those horn sounds from his guitar. Very few guitarists can phrase in both interesting and accessible ways. A master.
Toss and Travis. One of the best Blues trios that Robben has ever assembled.
Wow..this so good…very catchy rhythm, bass line is smooth, the vocal is good, the drummer is good and robben is very talented guitar player…overall it the best rock song I heard so far this year 2024…
Amazingly expressive playing. Really true to the spirit of Freddie King while expanding on his approach.
Robben is one of the greatest, and I love his playing and his musicianship!
Im lost for word…the guy play the blues seamlessly , smooth and …I do not knowwhat to say except …what a guitarist…very talented …
A masterclass, three fabulous musicians
Everything about this is stellar. Amazing tone, playing and the band are seriously on it. Love seeing robben play a 335
Damn, Robben!!!! No one plays blues like that!!
Matt Schofield does 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
What an absolutely beautiful biting tone, complete control of phrasing and expression.Love RF !
This was a great lineup! Robben along with Toss Panos on drums and Travis Carlton on bass!!!

One of the best live performers and I’ve seen em all
Travis is feeeling it! Always a treat to watch
Eloquent questions and elegant answers, all wrought through Robben's mind and guitar. ;)

totally agree I feel the same he shines even brighter on slow tunes
Who's still listening to this? I know I am, can't get enough. :-)

An ES 335, a Dumble OD Special and Robben's fingers - tone heaven!
Robben Ford y'all!! Seen him many times and one of my all time favorite guitarists! Incredible tone and man... how he attacks that fretboard!!
Tearing off the flesh in this wonderful rendition of "CANNIBAL SHUFFLE"
Cannonball, not Cannibal!

Faaantastic, really great played and a awesome sound!!!
It has that Freddie King feel, a great tribute!
I like seeing a well schooled drummer. very good technique.

Listen up guys and dolls, this is how you do it! Damned rocking!
It might be how robben does it (and l'm happy and awestruck that he does) but l could never do this.
As a rock pentatonic guy, I can hear that this is next level sh*t

fantastic musician!

Merry Christmas 🎄
just getting into his music now very good going to see him in Cardiff tonight can't Wait
How was it a year back?
His guitar tone is beyond words. And no, he doesn't sound the same when not playing the dumble.
AnalogOpher or the 335
AnalogOpher - I’d pay money to go see the guy play an oil can guitar thru an RCA television. But the 335 and the Dumble is kinda nice.
The bass is right on the money.
Awesome!
Check out "Nothing's Changed" - Jimmy Witherspoon feat Robben Ford.
... and "Pulpwood" by Freddie King.
Impeccable, thank you posting!
Still do so, timeless, unrivalled tone and monster mid punch sound.

Maybe it was recorded in Germany. WDR in the left corner in the video is a german tv channel. But I'm not sure man.
