  • At almost 125 lbs in weight, the Eahora Romeo is a beast of an ebike. It has a very powerful motor for speed, a high capacity battery for long range, and 4" fat tires to roll over obstacles in the road. But is it fun to ride? In this video, Kelly, Kris and Wesley from As The Crow Flies ‪@wesleymohawk‬ ride this bike extensively and tell you the good, the bad and the downright amazing things about it. If you are considering an ebike and don't need one that easily fits onto a bike rack, the Eahora Romeo is a very interesting option.

    I've had my Romeo for about nine months now, got one of the first production bikes.I've made a few changes that address the few issues I had. I'm tall, but like a slightly sporty forward lean when riding, so I replaced the bars with ones with more sweep back,and flipped them...sort of a sport bike setup... and then mounted an Ebay bikini fairing. Top speed went up about 5 mph. You can go into the settings and adjust how aggressively the bike will accelerate, and adjust the wheel diameter to get a more accurate speed readout.
    I get lots of questions, and the "eighty plus miles of range" answer seems to impress a lot of people.
    The frame is TIG welded steel, which makes me more confident that the frame will hold up. long term. Pull the battery out to put the bike on a rack, or load it into a van.
    You can raise the seat using spacers and "barrel nuts" on the seat studs, but only about an inch. You can also buy and mount shorter crank arms, which means your knees don't come quite so high when pedaling.You can mount the tail light on spacers, to get it out from under the seat (if you back off the rear spring preload for a lower seat height and more supple street ride, the fender may hit the tail light on a big pothole. The spacers help) I found the bike rides best on the street with the front shock rebound damping cranked up, and the preload about in the middle. Rear preload backed off most of the way.
    Bed the brakes (lots of online tutorials on how) That makes a big difference in stopping power, I can almost do a nosie with mine now.
    The Romeo is , in practical terms, an electric moped, a "pedelec". Poking along on bike trails in PAS 1 at ten or so mph doesn't seem to bother people, but it's best as a suburban/city commuter, covering distance at speeds a roadie will envy. My trip average speed (on the display) is typically 25-27 mph,thirty mile trips are easy. At that point, you start to wish the seat was softer.

    My riding buddy bought this bike. I bought the Aniioki. After the first ride he started seeing problems. It wouldn’t shift right, broken display upon unboxing, battery issues. He TRIED constantly to contact Eahora but to no avail. He literally tried for over a MONTH but could not get his bike fixed so he gave me the Eahora and bought Aniioki. It’s been almost a YEAR since he bought the bike but even to this day he can’t get it fixed. Buy what you want, it’s your choice and money but be for warned, if something happens to it your own your own

    You are right in saying that Romeo is not very good at pedaling. That is why I bought the Juiet. I use a fat tire rear rack on my car and the Juliet can be loaded and offloaded easily. You just roll the front wheel onto the bike rack grab the rear rack and lift onto the bike rack. The romeo is a nice well-built bike, but that seat looks a little hard for long rides.

Knees hitting your face almost. Give an honest tall man revue. Don’t suck up. It’s awsome for the 26 inch wheels I’ll give it that. If Aniioki builds a 26 I’ll buy it as well.

    This was a very well done review. I ended up ordering the Juliet instead because it comes with a rear rack (that is bigger and holds more than the Romeo add on rack), has an adjustable seat, and looks more like a bike than a motorcycle -- not that anyone should confuse a Romeo with a Sur Ron or something, but the Juliet is less likely to get me stares on a bike trail or attract the eyes of a cop -- these things go too fast for class 2, and have a throttle, which stupidly makes them not class 3 either, so they aren't *technically* legal (but again, this isn't a freaking Sur Ron either). The Juliet is also $400 cheaper than the Romeo and $600 cheaper than the Romeo Pro, so there is that too. I kind of wish the Juliet had the same display as the Romeo that shows battery percentage and generally looks like nicer software, but oh well.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree that the Juliet is probably more "stealth" than the Romeo. And I think Juliet would be better for tall people. Hope you are enjoying it!

    How's the front suspension? How many km in one charge? Is the speedometer accurate? What's your top speed?

    • @pooptub
      @pooptub 11 месяцев назад +1

      feels like $150 fork - so just alright, but the rear shock is stiff, thus it feels a bit unbalanced on jumps or over rocky terrain when the front isn’t maxed on compression stiffness. without any pedaling at 50kph (35-odd kph avg. with stops), over mostly flat terrain with some extended up and down steep hills, i got around 100km with about 12% remaining according to the display. and finally as for the speedometer and top speed, the speedometer is very accurate, and the top speed for me on a full charge as a 61kg 177cm individual (fairly small frame, so low drag) was around 54-56kph, but i’m fairly certain that’s because the motor at this voltage can’t spin any faster.

    I have a Romeo pro for 5 months now few things I can say is the speed is very dependent for zero reason at high battery I will hit 32-33 mph but sometimes times about 1/80 of a time I hit 35-36 mph basically never happens just sometimes and sometimes not at all in a full charged cycle I’ve tried contacting eahora about why this is happening and how I can do 35 mph steady but they couldn’t help me both brakes now don’t work I’ve tried to contact eahora and they couldn’t help and told me to get it repaired at a shop while my warranty is still young I’ve tried to change around the settings but nothing works sometimes I wonder if they gave me regular version instead of the pro version motor I checked and looked at the inside and saw that the controller says “ 30 amp” but there has been cases were Chinese companies lied about motor and controller watts and amps. They only good thing I can say is it takes me everywhere in my city everyday using throttle to go to school, work, and gym and only have to charge it once a week gets lots of range at only throttle if there was a way to change this restriction of going slower and being able to go 35 mph at all times then maybe cars wouldn’t have to go around me all the time

    • @jamesbronz
      @jamesbronz 9 месяцев назад

      Great review, but on the safe side, I think the cars shouldn't have to go around you, but rather, you around the cars. 🙂
      I've had mine for about 4 days now and I'm loving it....every bit of it! And FYI for anyone who does has one, the power of this amazing bike MUST I mean MUST be respected, or you can definitely hurt yourself because its a very heavy bike. But the motor on this baby offsets any weight issue pertaining to this bike.
      Once again, its a great ebike.

    Kelly, nice bike, but, I agree, very heavy. The Eahora Romeo, according to an ebike definition, is not really an ebike, which would be a class 1,2, or 3, with a class 2 with throttle having a max battery power of 750 watts and capability of a maximum of 28 mph. The Romeo, appears to be a Class 4, which is really not an ebike, but closer to a moped. Class 4 bikes have no speed limit, and have over a 750 watt motor. Great review! #chasyoudown

    I have not seeing it fly and so it is time to go and unsubscribe I guess. That is not my content anymore and those bike are forbidden here cause you need to paddle it up to 45 km / h. That is just a simple electric motorcycle and 60 kg is what ?
    60 kg will a lot way to stop on top.
    But main point : this channel was about drones, seriously and over time it lost the roots and focus
    bye

    Nothing that heavy should be on a shared use path with pedestrians and actual bicycles. Same for mountain bike trails. People ride trails to get away from motor vehicles and that thing is a motorcycle with afterthought pedals.

    The Romeo has nice lines, perhaps it should be made out of a lighter material, Weight has an impact on the battery life.....I see this as it`s only downside.

      It's VERY heavy, but looks cool and is fun to ride. Not great for tall people though...

    I have this bike and I am over 300 Lbs and its rides amazingly. I got it up to 30MPH. I can ride the hills in my city with ease. I have Severe anxiety so I don't drive and this bike allows me to get around (I feel more comfortable on 2 wheels than in a car)

    Can you review the Eahora ACE? Eahora seems like a great brand and I am considering buying the ACE

      Man I would love to, but gotta go with whatever they send me. My biggest advice on these heavy ebikes is to make sure to get hydraulic disk brakes - I have ridden a few with mechanical disk brakes and they don't stop as well. You really need hydraulic to stop a bike that heavy. Have fun and ride safe!

    I dig the 26" wheels! I have a motorcycle style e bike, 20" tires, i wish the seat was a bit higher, how high is the seat? This may be my nxt ebike

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  11 месяцев назад

      The seat is low. It’s not great for taller people

    It seems you can add longer rear shocks to increase the height and better suspension

    Howdy Kelly. Wow, talk about one beefy eBike! Heck, I thought my Evelo eBike was heavy at 65lbs, LOL. This sure looks like an excellent and well built bike especially for the price. Very Cool!

    As a 6'4 25yo, I just stand slightly to pedal, it makes it easier to fall into the pedal rotation, especially going uphill, and leaning forward while stand pedaling makes you go like 40mph, I went 47mph downhill.
