    If the antenna connected to the output port is badly tuned means the VSWR of the antenna is very high, in that case most of the RF power will get reflected.
    But you said for the reflected signal path, the signal gets cancled due to 180deg phase difference at hole "B", in that case where will the reflected power be measured ?
    The purpose of directional couple is to provide means of measurement of reflected power from antenna port in order to keep track if the rf power is getting fully radiated or not.

      It is needed to terminate the signal, means signal will get dissipated at the terminator.
      So, No signal will get reflected further in circuit.
