  • The all-electric 2024 Honda Prologue SUV uses the same basic platform as the 2024 Acura ZDX and is the Honda brand’s first U.S. model that’s solely powered by electricity. It’s based on the General Motors Ultium electric vehicle platform as part of a partnership between Honda and GM.

    You forgot to mention this is a one off partnership! Honda has already abandoned this platform for the next EV..

      I went in it today and then even had the same chimes of GM. I could tell right away, but this is a good move on Honda since they don’t really want to invest in this.

    This is what Honda gets for not believing in EVs from the start. They are forced to rely on other auto manufacturers to catch up. And GM is not what you call a leader in electrification. Any company that kills its own EV1 and sells the technology to an oil company, is not a company you want to rely on with electrification efforts.

    Comments are brutal. GM's powertrain is proving to be pretty good. The software is the problem. Fortunately, Honda is doing its own software, so they are avoiding all the problems with GM's EVs. The fact it has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is a good start because GM's software does not have that - but Honda's obviously will. Gm's lame excuse that their software is better and safer just does not hold true - and Honda is evidence of this.

    If I was to buy an electric car, I buy a used Tesla now from Hertz. I priced out a used 2022 with 80k in mileage for 23 thousands dollars. Factor in 4k in rebate then I get an established electric car brand for less than 20k. Why try an expensive unproven electric car that will certainly loose more than half of its value in three years?

    • @thejake8099
      @thejake8099 Месяц назад

      Go buy the Hertz Tesla, every manufacturer was unproven... including Tesla, and have you seen their resale value? Well, if you're looking at Hertz, obviously you have.

    These comments are brutal. Maybe Honda caught on that they lost track of their user base and made this is a one off collaboration. The bezels on the upper screen are wider than those on my 2008 Odyssey. My 2008 Odyssey had electrical issue but I can only imagine this Prologue is going to be a magnitude wore.

      Dude. Stick price is higher but cost of driving is so cheap. I went from a 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i to an Audi Q4. The price tag felt pretty high but i did get a pretty good deal. Anyway my wife and I used for spend $350 on gas. Now my “gas” bill averages $20 a month. I was going to buy an Outback instead until my Mom told me it costs her around $65 to fill up. That would have increased my gas bill even more than what i was used to. The car payment on the Outback was $150 less than my Q4 but factor in my gas saving and I’m getting a better value.
      Another option is used. My mate got a used ioniq 5 with 18k miles for $30k before oregon rebate. Ended up costing her $22.5k. Battery was at 100% health. She swapped from a Ford Fiesta, commutes from Portland to Vancouver everyday. She charges at her apartment 2 times a week for under 20 cents a kwhr. Factor cost of ownership and ev’s are less of a premium than people think.

    The Honda Prologue offers a range of only 260 miles with a starting price of $47,000, though it will be possible to push the price to around $60,000 fully equipped. That's a lot of money for a short and shitty range of only 269 miles. This would not be the automobile for the serious traveler as i am. With over 6000 miles of traveling i do a year, i need range. So instead of buying a car for $47,000 to $60,000 for a range of only 260 miles, i paid $41,000 dollars for a car that provides me with a range of 570 miles. 3 to 5 minutes of downtimes and not 20 to 30 plus minutes of downtimes and paid off at 41K. EVs definitely needs to be improved before i buy one. If china can come out with EVs that offer ranges of over 600 miles, trust me so can the United States of America. Till then, I'll keep my jaguar XJl and leave well enough alone......

      Toyota does not have a reliable competing product for this or any BEV category. In the Asia market, there are comments on the Hilux BEV but is based on the prototype Hilux BEV of previous shows to competitive with the highly popular Isuzu DMax, not really a reliable source. Regarless of the power source, one thing is sure, the future IS electric and... they are (all traditional OEMs) are laaate! 😮

    • @Noah_E

      It's not Japanese. It uses GM's Ultium platform, which means it will have a ton or recalls and problems caused from poor quality control and cheap engineering and materials.
