We have the same van (year and model), and same useless handicap parking warning sticker on ramp door lol. My setup is much different. Being able to drive was life changing.
Thank you so much for sharing. Congratulations! Driving for us wheelchair users is a big deal and exciting. This helps me stay motivated to get one within a few years. I’ll be graduating with my bachelors degree around 2020. I’m looking into the steps to get an accessible vehicle funded to drive for work. ♿️🔥🚘

Uggh i use paratransit to get to work and they are absolutely AWFUL!!! Just last week i got to work 45min late two days in a row!!! I cant wait to have my own ride. Dealing with Easter seals here in ct hasnt been a picnic either. I cant wait for this whole annoying process to be done with.

yes I have medicare and medicaid and I have an aide 28 hrs a week. I am working on getting a social worker. I am not DDA though.
I’d think that in case of a wreck or a panic situation, it would be better to push for brake. You would be more likely to push on the wheel in a panic situation, wouldn’t you?
Justin Phillips I would agree, I guess pulling a while for the gas might tire some people out? Not sure.
Maybe after hours of driving, your muscle memory would override a panic reaction, IDK.

I worried about my spasms while driving, but some teenager pulled out in front of me and my legs were able to hit the brake no problem. Hopefully you never have to find out what happens in a bad situation.
Justin Phillips I think in New York you aren't allowed to drive if you have spasms.
