    Hello, my husband and I just purchased a polaris general xp4. We are enjoying your videos. We are interested in what type of back window you installed? We have decided to go with the same windshield you choose, but not sure what option would be best for the back. Thanks, and keep the videos coming, we love them!!!

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  Год назад

      Congrats on the purchase and thanks for watching! Our rear window is the glass Polaris lock and ride. It’s not really easy to pop on and off - so I’d consider once it’s on to be semi permanent. You won’t want to be taking it off everytime you trailer - which means you need to leave the windshield on too.
      Thanks for watching! More coming soon!

    We tried to go order a new XP4, but they said they are not taking any more orders and we have to wait for the 2022 models to come out....dangit! Nice job on the videos!

      Thanks!!! Bummer about the wait for a new machine :( Polaris like everyone in the outdoor industry is trying to keep up with demand.... it’s crazy right now, never seen anything like it.

    So we are headed to the black hills this summer. I would love to get a set of terrabites for my 2016 100s. They call it a 60” but it’s 62 and then some when the suspension is proper. If it’s riding high it can be under 62 so it depends on how it’s sitting. I would think a tusk 5/2 offset wheel would add just a bit more width, make 62” nearly unachievable. I imagine your rims are 5/2 offset. Does your general actually stay under 62” for the black hills?

    Great video, we just got back from Black River Falls and we've recently been using a Cardo intercom system and have been having bad experiences with static noise. Looking at the TheCom, and wearing helmets. Do you have a completely cordless solution or do you have the corded ones with the headset/boom in your helmets? I didn't see any options for a cordless, if it's corded do you have a button to push each time you talk? Just curious to know what your setup is, I also like the fact of getting a universal one so I can swap it out when I buy another UTV.

      Ours are corded and we have a boom mic and speakers we installed in our helmets. There is an in line PTT you can add if you want that feature but ours just picks up our voices. You can adjust the sensitivity as needed.
      Overall it’s a good system. If someone isn’t plugged in all the way it gets staticky sometimes. You also have to blow out then connections from time to time. Overall it’s a good system but it’s not perfect.

    Looking at a UTV for a family of 4. We plan on riding around the farm. I’d prefer a versatile machine . How is the bed size on these if I need to do work around the yard with it ?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  Год назад

      It’s a little small honestly. We had an older Ranger which we just sold… I’d like to get another Ranger specifically for work around our property. If your primary use will be utility and riding around the farm, I’d lean towards the Ranger. They do still ride very nicely, maybe not quite as comfortably as the General. But lots of people we do day rides with have Rangers and they do great too.

    We just got word that our XP4 1000 general will be shipping to us next week after 4 months of waiting. Can you please share info on where you purchased the turn signal kit?

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  3 года назад

      Awesome! You’ll love it. Our kit is from XTC TSS-POL-GBU I believe. We actually ordered it off Amazon - it was the only place they were in stock. They have a few different kits - one without the horn and flashers, one with and then they have a self cancelling kit too.

    Why did you choose the general 4 over the ranger northstar xp 1000 it has heat, air full doors etc. just curious

    • @TheNorthwoodsFamily
      @TheNorthwoodsFamily  2 года назад

      Good question. The General is more geared towards trail riding than work which was our primary need. We have a 2 seat Ranger already we use around our property. From what I remember, General has a little more ground clearance, more suspension travel, bucket seats and it’s lighter weight than the Northstar which is a heavy bugger. For a while in Wisconsin you cold to register a Northstar as a UTV because its factory weight was too heavy. We also weren’t sure at the time what we’d add for all the accessories - we actually like the 3/4 doors a lot on the General versus a full cab. Both great machines but that’s why we leaned towards the General.

    Those Terrabites are excellent. I had a set on the Wolverine I just sold. Just bought a new Wolverine RMAX that came with Dirt Commanders. Will consider going back to Terrabites after this current set is finished. Only thing you have to be careful with is Terrabites aren’t true to size fir some reason. They tend to be about 1” less in diameter than advertised. Common and known issue with those. Have fun and be safe.

      That’s good to know you had a good experience with them! So far we really like them ourselves... been handling trails and paved routes nicely. interesting though about the size difference. Thanks for the info!

      The green square ones? Those are registration stickers to ride on trails and road routes in our state.

      @@TheNorthwoodsFamily I think it’s green. What I thought, but wasn’t fully sure. I’ve seen a couple different colors in different videos.

      Very good & thorough video, thank you for taking the time to cover everything & share your experiences. I'm slowly making my way through all your awesome videos. The overland video across Wisconsin south to north was great & I couldn't believe you rode the UTV back to the south!
