    So happy your doing a altered book, my first one came out to bulky and didn’t like it, and I just used scraps to create it; a test run. TYFS of not tearing the page all the way. I like making different pockets and I also watch Carol Laws, she has great ideas too. Have a nice evening. 👍🏻🌻🌻🌻😻

I did Natasha video which was beautiful but had a problem trying to find the book she suggested I’m going to try your method with a smaller book for the first time so if it’s a mess my time won’t be wasted. I use my razor for the glued in books because the scrappy stuff bothers me a little. Although I think if I was doing a grungy one if the scrappy stuff was inked it would look great! Hmmm something for me to remember! Oh brilliant to use your ruler! I had not tried that before!

    I have an idea for you regarding your beloved Paris altered book. Take a very sharp knife and cut away all the pages. Then take some 1” fabric strips the length of your page height and glue these on two pages at a time leaving 1/2” gap between the pages. Do this to the front and back of the pages. When everything is done and dry stitch these two page signatures to a new spine. You know how to do the rest to get these back between your book covers. I think it would be an interesting experiment that will pay off in the end.
    I’m glad you’re doing this project since I plan on having one of my art classes do an altered book project, and the more examples I can show them the better.

      Wonderful idea I just don’t think I could sew through those pages, they are so thick and hard. Blessings, Amy❤️

    • @clc3897
      @clc3897 2 года назад

      @@craftycat7212 you would be sewing through the fabric strip that is glued to two pages. The gap in between the pages should allow for a needle to pass through. BTW, you convinced me with your stencils and I bought two sets from you just a bit ago. Such a great idea! You should do more of these stencils.

    For you, it’s cat hair….for me, it’s dog hair, LOL. I have an altered book I’m working on….honestly, Im not sure i will make another one because I’m not crazy about the results. I got a cinch machine and found these really cool books (there was a set of 11 @ 99 cents each) that have a faux (I think) leather cover that is flexible and just feels yummy. I plan on doing both cinched journals and sewn in signatures with them. They are the perfect size for journals!

    Hi! I just subscribed!! I have been so excited to make a book and you are explaining it so well! I haven't read the comments or finished the video quite yet (lunch break) but I wondered: when counting the ten to be torn out, etc does the amount of the pages of the book change? I know this sounds ridiculous but: say your book is 200 pgs is it still ten or if the book is only 50 pges how many would you recommend...I'm a newbie and don't want to get page tearing happy lol! Thank you! ♥️

    • @craftycat7212
      @craftycat7212  2 года назад +1

      Yes if the book is as small as 50 pages you will want to tear many 4-5 out. I haven’t tried a book that small so I’m not sure of exact number. I wouldn’t tear more than 10 out of any book. If you don’t want to decorate so many pages choose a book around 200-300 pages. Thank you and welcome.💕Amy
