Great walk Johnny...so sorry about your gloves. 😞 The high school you walked by (Winston Churchill C.I.) is where I attended in grade 13...some Toronto trivia to pass on to people that care...or not! 🤪
The area of Wexford has changed over the years. There was a huge Greek presence and now a middle eastern community Thanks for sharing and promising to film.
Your channel is a part of my life's routine. Every time you drop a video, I would watch it from start to end. It's always a great pleasure to travel with you. Thanks! : )
Great video. You must do St.Andrews Road in Scarborough. It's a very charming street with beautiful homes and even a 19th century graveyard and church slap dab in the middle of the street.
@@JohnnyStrides Thomson Park/Museum is close by. The museum is basically the baby version of Black Creek Pioneer Village. Great job with this video btw. Another thing to point out is The Wexford Restaurant that used to be located at Warden and Lawrence, it recently closed after 60 years in business. LOL when you went to Dollarama, you should've popped into Harry's (another Scarborough restaurant that's been around for 50+ years) to get some fries and gravy. So good.
This is my area .. love it Johnny thanks .. that adult video store is more then a store lol .. but it’s been there for 41 years crazy that it survived threw so much .
Damn I miss the old colony dinner. Used to be in the same plaza as Nasr foods with John Anderson burger across the street. Nice to see the Wexford restaurant still kicking
Wow this was unexpected, at one point you were a little ways away from my workplace! So nice seeing some familiar territory on these walks, thanks Johnny!
As you were walking east on Lawrence from the Shell station that 1st strip plaza (North side) had one of the 1st KFC’s in Canada (sadly recently closed).
Hi Johnny another great video! You said Whappy Cannabis was the first cannabis store you passed, but before Warden near the Pioneer Gas Station you passed "Growers Retail" which is another cannabis store. Cheers!
Interesting things on your walk were the SE corner of Victoria Park / Lawrence intersection where Steak Queen used to be. The NE corner of Pharmacy / Lawrence is the location of Ghadir which is awesome for kebabs and fish. There used to be a small Korea Town @ Warden / Lawrence including a PAT Store but only a couple of stores remain. Also at that intersection used to be the Wexford Restaurant, which closed in 2020 Summer after 63 years. Harry's Drive-In and Flipper's Fish house on the NW corner of Kennedy / Lawrence have been there for years. As for foot traffic, low density equals cars, LRT won't change that.
Dennis, an LRT line (Lawrence East LRT) could be built here starting from Port Union all the way to where The Shops at Don Mills are (a Lawrence West LRT could be built from Lawrence Subway station all the way to the airport.)
You said you did not know much about this area. So we can learn together. I am sure there are lots of us watching that are new to many places you take us too.
7:38 Shawarma Empire - Really good shawarma, they are well known 18:37 Diana's Oyster Bar & Grill - They have a really HUGE selection of oysters. 32:40 Just before this plaza, you missed the original Pizza Nova location that's been around since 1963. Nova Ristorante.
WOW! You actually did my request!!! Sick video man! It's one of my favorite plazas for good halal food. Has a really good Muslim middle eastern/Afghan vibe there. They even have a halal Jamaican restaurant in that plaza and it's called Rose's halal kitchen.
Hi, welcome to Scarborough! The building at the corner (south West) of Lawrence and Warden, is a Salvation Army Geared to income building that includes a Citadel and a daycare. And traffic on Lawrence is fairly heavy. Several horrible accidents at the corners of Lawrence and Warden.
yes it is Wexford Collegiate and the Wexford residence is a seniors home and it is the place where a male residence killed a female resident and badly injured another female. D'Ornellas is a great bike shop - they have been there for years. Mini Moe's burgers - a long time ago that was a drive in burger place but it has changed many times over the years - it was a Mr. Sub place for a long time. Do it yourself car wash has been there for years. It was originally a Salvation Army church there and the city was wanting to increase housing density so the church had to be torn down and reconstructed with the apartments above it. I lived in the area for a very long time - thank you for the walk. It is amazing how much has changed and how much is still the same.
Pretty sure I was there at the plaza with the Pharmasave shortly before you walked by there. Just missed you by several minutes haha. Appreciate you showing Scarborough some love. Keep up the amazing work, Johnny!! :D
Also there is a famous restaurant at warden . It’s called the Wexford it’s famous for the fact In the late 80s a lot of famous Toronto stars such as mike Myers Doug Gilmore a couple famous broadway actors .. sorry you had to see this street so late in life not as it was before .. especially in the 80 90s up to 2009 very vibrant community.. and there was also a Reids Dairy until 2005 we’ll known for its ice cream and 1 dollar milkshakes
Johnny on that street TO could try a BRT System its Cheaper then a full Train system it a artcaling bus for maximum seating sometimes doors are on both side of the bus if it is going down the middle of the road stoping at LRT like platforms sometimes they run in line on the sides of the Street too with the same nice platforms as LRT too
Great Video. You should do a section of Eglinton Avenue East of Kennedy Station, east of Lawrence Ave East from the RT or Kingston Road near Guildwood Go and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Maybe Guildwood neighbourhood, check out Guild Park & Gardens where Drake shot some scenes for Headlines in 2011
And thus part of town you walked threw is called little Arabia or Arab town .. many arab settled here and opened up Arab businesses.. at one point in the early 2000 this was one of the only areas to get a sharwarma or fafel.. and at time it was 2 sharwas for 4 dollars .. also they use to hold taste of lawaranx every summer
It makes me want to cry seeing you out there in the freezing weather I know that's how you make your money why can't you just ride the Subway or the train I love riding the train with you plus it's nice and warm and I get to sightsee out of the windows I love for one day for you to take lunch coffee are hot cocoa I think that's what it is and just spend a couple hours on the subway or the train I messed doing stuff like that
You need to make idiot gloves. Measure from your wrist along your back and down the other arm and see a glove on either end. Feed them through your coat and you’ll not lose gloves.
You either have people who are great at talking, and dumb as a cluck and wont even put any effort and try, or else you have people with knowledge that try, do the homework, but aren't that good at speaking with a constant stream of talking.
Good on you going out in these freezing temperatures to keep us stuck at home entertained
Thanks Tina!
Thank you for sharing! Great Virtual Tour! :) 👍👍😊😊 Amazing!
Scarborough gang wya!? Thanks for these Johnny, always love watching ♥️
Great to see Scarborough, I basically almost never go to Scarborough on any walks so great to see it!
Great walk Johnny...so sorry about your gloves. 😞 The high school you walked by (Winston Churchill C.I.) is where I attended in grade 13...some Toronto trivia to pass on to people that care...or not! 🤪
Brings back memories of my childhood. It sure has changed, though.

That restaurant on the SE corner of Victoria Pk & Lawrence was originally a Dairy Queen. Cool walks.👍
Also Dairy Deli
Damn I miss the old colony dinner. Used to be in the same plaza as Nasr foods with John Anderson burger across the street. Nice to see the Wexford restaurant still kicking
wexford restaurant closed down couple years ago man. times have changed in that area for the worse.
Wow this was unexpected, at one point you were a little ways away from my workplace! So nice seeing some familiar territory on these walks, thanks Johnny!
Rob Ford's office used to be at wexford plaza
As you were walking east on Lawrence from the Shell station that 1st strip plaza (North side) had one of the 1st KFC’s in Canada (sadly recently closed).
at the beginning of your video, on the right (south-west corner of vic park and lawrence) was an old cemetery and still an old cairn erected.
that's right in my area and I happen to have got my touch screen gloves form that very same dollarama last week.
So sad Wexford restaurant is closed :( very few places you could have gotten two all beef jumbo hotdogs with your breakfast.

Can you get out to Burlington when it’s warmer? In particular Hampton heath rd.
That's going to be a big stretch but we'll see.

yah you went to Scarborough! My old neighbourhood
Any chance you could get a view of the city skyline.
Not from this location.
You seem to lose things in Scarborough. You left behind sunglasses at the mall before a bike ride, now you leave gloves on the bus. ;)
I will not be going back lol
@@JohnnyStrides Good idea :)

So which one am I? lol
Looks like a ghetto. So dull. Sidewalks don't have any shops. So car dominated. How can ppl live in a city like that 🤢
