i remember this season well, was my first as a celtic supporter. celtic got off to a great start that season while rangers struggled for months.surprising as they had some great european results. then the worst winter for a long time meant half of celtics league campaign had to be played from march 3rd onwards. we had been poor after the good start and rangers had closed the gap, by the time of this game at hampden it was tight, rangers deserved to win this game, could have won 6-1 with a bit of luck, they played well and celtic never turned up, that put rangers back in the driving seat but it was celtic who clinched the title in style 2 weeks later on a monday night when 10 men won 4-2. it was a great end to an unpredictable season. great memories.
I was at the 4-2 game It was All rangers first 45 minutes , McDonald scored early 6 minsAnd Colin Jackson had a point black header saved by a clear hand ball, by one of the opposition players . As a clear a pen as you would ever see .Eddie Pringle didn't give it The game was in the bag, until Doyle was sent off and the sense of injustice galvanised the opposition . The roof fell in for Rangers I will never forget the amount of fights breaking out every few minutes in the beggars end and the jungle . They were not playing well and their fans knew it .In the end . Rangers just relaxed too much and players like McCloy, Jackson and Jardine were well past their sell by date . This was born out following season when the club had one of it's worst seasons in it's history
i was in the Rangers end. No idea how you noticed fighting in the jungle. Tims came on the park after the final whistle and it could have got very serious but we were so scunnerred/shocked we never reacted. It was very close to being absolutely Radio.
Rangers were in a good position after this result but still lost the Championship at Parkhead in a crazy game. 15 minutes to go Rangers, who only needed a draw, were 2-1 up vs ten men and lost 4-2.
Ye sure Keith? I'm sure we were 2-1 up then Doyle got sent off, then I wont mention the rest as it's too painful. I'll take yer word for it though, aye the revenge in 1999 was awesome mate. Agreed.
Agreed, I always noticed when their fans caused trouble at home or abroad it was Old Firm fans but when we caused trouble it was Rangers fans only. Power of the press and the overwhelming attempts not to offend their sensitivity. Fans of smaller clubs in Scotland follow the exact same path, pandering to Ceptic.
jazuk81 we were 1-0 up when Doyle was ordered off, went 2-1 down and Russell equalised before 2 late goals broke our hearts, the worst felling I have had as a Gers fan leaving the ground that night. I have footage of all the goals but won't post it.
Grown men who use the word septic for Celtic really need to get a life . Even the Rangers supporting friends I have think it's juvenile . As for this game - I had actually forgot about this. I'm sure it was a postponed game from earlier on in the season , which as it turned, suited Celtic. This was Billy McNeill's first season as Celtic manager, and they had got off to a really poor start in the league. Celtic had trailed Rangers for most of the season and after this defeat , they played a strangely subdued Rangers team two weeks later on a sunny Monday evening. I was there , and it was one of the most memorable , one-side Old Firm games I have attended. Rangers led 1-0 at half-time against the run of play and Johnny Doyle got sent off just after half-time for stupidly kicking out at wee Doddy . It should have been uphill for Celtic after that , 10 men Celtic completely ran the show. Rangers tried to defend in numbers but that tactic backfired and with Davie Provan and Roy Aitken running their guts out , went on to lead Celtic to a famous victory. The match was also famous for STV cameramen going on strike prior to the match , hence no professionally recorded film of the game , although their is amateur footage of all the six goals and Doyle's sending off.
4-2 game ?Good old masonic cameraman made sure the game was lost forever . Good lads Having said that .The Gers were top dogs on this day Majestic performance .Should have been 3 or 4 nil
Gianmaria Framarin We played Celtic at Hampden 3 times that season, Rangers won 3-2 in League Cup Semi AET, a 1-1 draw in league and that final game we won 1-0.

Liking that Rangers shirt.

I prefer bheasts which is your real title nowadays .A club that covered up child abuse for over 50 years Justice is coming

ger50champ That 4-2 game is actually online somewhere, cant remember where thank god lol.
The game wasn't recorded or broadcast because of strike action.
Why are they playing at Hampden if its a league match?
Ibrox under rebuilding...

The last good season before the horrible early '80s...
We were never 2-1 up in 4-2 game. We were 2-2 after Russell equalised before Jackson og and the Murdo made it 4-2 , was there
Rangers should've scored six. Some unbelievable sitters missed.
Thomas laffing Rangers should've won the league after this, dunno what happened, crazy times crazy season.
That was a bad 'tackle' by Derek Parlane - i'd imagine it must've been retaliatory?
You missed the 150 from the muppet McGrain
the original.....Smith should score 😀
