As far as older/taller trick or treaters, my rule is as long as they're polite, I give them candy. There's so many tall, younger kids nowadays. Also, I'd rather have teens out trick or treating than up to no good.

When I was 11, someone asked me if I wasnt a bit old to go trick or treating - I looked older because puberty hit me pretty early. I was devastated, ran home, and never trick or treated again 😢🫣

@aliflanagan7669 this is what I'm talking about, why do we have to ruin things for kids when biology is weird and all bodies are different. Sorry this happened to you.

My friends and I trick or treated till we were like 15 😅 but that last year was a little awkward, it’s not as fun when it feels like the nice old ladies are giving you candy cause they are scared of you rather than because they think you’re cute

Perfect timing to move to MN. We're in the middle of our first snow storm of the season. Two Harbors got 8 inches but the Twin Cities are only at about 2. BONUS, everyone's already forgotten how to drive again.

My house was built in 1911 but it's not nearly as drafty as other more recently built houses.
Also, we have heaters here in WI and MN.
Y'all are also conflating snow and cold. During polar vortexes you know it's suuuuuuper cold because it'll be too cold to snow. So when it's snowing, it'll feel warm. Also, I've only had power go out one time during an actual blizzard where the wind knocked down a tree.
I love living here. I need seasons and i like the hygge of my warm bright house while watching the snow fall in the light of the streetlights. But i also can't handle heat. We still get hot summers here in Wisconsin and Minnesota, so it's the extremes for everything. 😅

Glad we can get some recognition in MN, thank you matt for realizing that we have it a little fricken rough up here... it was the first day of snow fall and everyone is crashing there cars and stuff... like literally try driving when you CANT see where you are on the road.... and you might ask why are you driving when you cant see where you are on the road??? one min. road can be clear the next min you hit a snow snow patch because of drifts... It wont be snowing when you leave the house and then BOOM white out... sometimes you just keep going because you dont wanna turn around and go back home because its the same distance as if you made it to work.... and i live in a place where jobs are scarce. most places dont care and WILL fire you if you miss from bad roads. they will tell you to leave earlier and slow down.... with that being said im getting laid of in december (forever) and now I have to drive AT LEAST 30 min to get another actual decent job..... thats a problem in the winter for me.... Its terrifying.... and maggie i wouldnt be looking for colder places to LIVE.... just go visit somewhere lol!

Honestly coming from the coast of texas and then living in Denmark for a year was such a blessing because I went to college 5 hrs north (still in Texas but for sure colder in the winter) and we got all the Oklahoma weather (which OK gets COLD) and it was bad. I was in college during the snowpocalypse and because we don't have the infrastructure in Texas to withstand extreme winter temperatures or snow, it was the worst.

I appreciate the mention of cold days as opposed to snow days; places that get snow frequently have the infrastructure to at least _try_ to tackle the snowfall, but there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to mitigate -20°F _before_ windchill. nothing can be done to make that navigable and safe.

as someone who grew up in denver and then moved to the midwest, midwest cold/snow is a WHOLE other level. it’s the most cliché thing…..but the windchill really makes a difference. when the sun is out in denver, the snow will actually melt somewhat. sun can be out in the midwest and it’ll still be wayyy below zero. learned that lesson real fast as a freshman during the polar vortex🫡

Germany is not getting as cold as it used to. Neither is Austria. A lot of Ski Resorts have to make artificial snow, some have closed down. Its still cold, but much milder - climate change and all...
    Greetings from Berlin, GER :)

I’m from MA and hearing them guess how far Salem is from the city was mostly a gross reminder of how small this state is compared to where they are all from

My idea for this Halloween was to go as a Sad Beige Baby Momma. But we're just giving out candy this year and I didnt want people to think I was a boring white lady with a beige baby doll. 😅

If you want to experience winter, come to my city, Ottawa! Canada's snowy and chilly capital has the best (or worst?) winters.

Weird how when you give your city over to only transportation by car the streets are dangerous for kids to walk on. No but for real cars should be all of our greatest fear.

Well, Edinboro PA gets 18 feet of snow a year, is cheap, cozy, and a college town.

I just left MN after trying it out for 3 years...... -20/10 dont recommend. Maybe it was just being a Florida girl I just could not handle not being able to breath cause its so cold, and I think we got like 90inches of snow or something in minneapolis last winter :D

When I was a kid, we'd go to the richer neighborhoods for trick or treating that were safer but we still had to ride in the car because the houses were so far apart 😂 it also was cold a lot
