Carole, your top is gorgeous! I love Lutteloh too - tricky to begin with, but soon overcome with instructions from similar 'big 4/5' pattern envelopes. Now I love the system and the garments I make fit me much better than items made from any other patterns. Thank you and please do some more before too long.🌷
Thank you very much! You do as I do and that is use existing instructions I have sometimes. Interesting that you say you get a better fit, to date, I am not sure I do. We had such fun with this collab we will definitely be doing more. Thank you for watching 😊🧵
Love that type of sleeves (if that’s what you call them 😊) and the loose fitting style, it fascinates me how you get a pattern out of some numbers. Beautiful
I think, not sure but they are Dolman sleeves?! Yes I like them too and one of my favourite T shirt patterns has that style. It is a bit magical when the numbers create a pattern that is for sure 😂. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Wow! I love this top. As usual, you are so stylish and pretty in it. That fabric is awesome. Chris looks very pretty in her dress and it too fit perfectly. You two did great.
Kris did a fabulous job didn't she? She is far more talented than she realises and I was so pleased to do a collab with her. Thanks so much for your lovely comments on my top 😊🧵
I'm smiling ear to ear!!!! I loveeee your top!!! You make me want to make one now!! I agree with you about the placket being a bit longer!!! I love it!!! I had so much fun doing this collaboration with you!! Its beautiful on you!!! Thank you so very much for doing this with me!! We definitely need to do one again!!!
Aww thanks Kris, you are so sweet. I could easily go back and make that placket longer to be honest with careful un picking! Thanks for asking me to do this....more....!!! 😊🧵
I was interested in the sewing system. I had bought it in 2011 and it seemed like the miracle system after the man showed what all you could do with it in a class. I paid the fortune for it, and I had never used it. When doing my house decluttering, I’m afraid it went to the thrift store. I’ve never thought about one thing I threw away years ago until now! Thanks, Carol! I’ll just let you use it and I’ll watch! Great video makes.
You are not alone in spending money on the system and not using it. My Mum felt guilty for 50 years about not making the most of it but she was so happy when I said I'd have a go at it 🤣. That's the main reason I use it every now and again plus I must admit, plotting the points is good fun! I'm not convinced I get the perfect fit as advertised but that's probably my fault. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thanks very much Pamela. I have worn that top a few times whilst on holiday recently. I always love to hear from fellow Lutterloh -ites and hear their successes. Thanks again 🧵😊
The top turned out very nice, I like the drawstring idea, looks cute. I’m putting that in my ideas list….!! I don’t have the Lutterloh system, I have Sure Fit Designs, but don’t use it enough.
Thank you! The drawstring placket would be easy to do on the hem of any garment. I have done a similar thing on the shoulders of a T shirt in the past. I have heard that Sure Fit Designs are better than Lutterloh! 😊🧵
Your top came out super cute Carole! I love the little drawstring detail at the hem and the wide neckline. Very, very nice!! Now off to watch Kris’ video! 💞
Thanks Izzy! I loved doing this collab with Kris as I hadn't used the system for months. Have you seen Kris's dress? It is awesome 💗Have a great week xxx😘
Thank you so much, Lutterloh is an interesting concept and I am fortunate that I got mine for free! Not having instructions is the main drawback for most people. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Thanks Jen, the placket was quite small really wasn't it but I may actually take it off and make a bigger one. That kind of job won't take too long but I bet its months before I actually do it 😆. Thanks for watching xx
Very, very nice top!!! 🥰 I've been on the fence re: buying the Lutterloh system. Didn't know that there were no sewing instructions, which now makes me hesitate looking for one on eBay. Then again, your top is just the style I like and beginner patterns are difficult. Hmmmm....... Maybe one day. Going to look for Sew Notes' vlog now. Happy Monday, Carole!
Ha ha Dori, no instructions at all apart from basic 'how to's' in the front of the guide! It does make you use your brain a bit and that's for sure 😅. If you notice, I always choose the simpler patterns apart from the jeans I made last year and I did those because I knew I had similar patterns I could use if I got stuck! Please let me know if you ever do manage to pick up a set and have a go! Have a great week xx😊🧵
Lutterloh is rather intriguing! Your top is great, love the fabric. I'm thinking that placket detail could be added to any top that needed a little bit of interest.
It is indeed a very strange and magical system! You are right about that placket, easily added to anything to make a garment look a bit more special. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Thank you Carol. I think I am going to take that placket off and replace it with a longer one if I can do that without damaging the fabric. As you say, it will add a bit more shape. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊
I really like how your top turned out and I love that fabric!!! You look so cute in everything you make :) Have a wonderful day. I'm lazy try the Lutterloh system. lol 😂 😂
Thank you so much Sherri! The Lutterloh system is an every now and again type of activity 🤣. No way I have the brain power to use it for all my makes! Thanks so much for popping by 😊🧵
Oh my word, that is amazing! Don't be phased about the placket at all, it was really quite easy to do. I would definitely make it longer next time though. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Hi, Carole! You're tough, come out beautiful. I am still pretty bummed that I threw out my Lutterlow system. Not having instruction was one of the main reasons why I threw it out and I forgot to add seam allowances so nothing ever 😮😅fit.
Oh Zelda, that seam allowance thing gets me nearly every time 😆. It is so funny, we complain all the time about some pattern instructions being slightly wrong then I use this system where there are none! Notice I always choose the easy pieces 😊xx
Love your top Carole, the tie detail looks great and the fabric is gorgeous. I'm enjoying watching your Lutterloh makes and look forward to seeing more. Well done.❤
Absolutely ❤ your top, it's amazing! I wouldn't know where to start trying to draft my own patterns so I'd be far too chicken to try the Lutterloh system but I'm off to have a look at the patterns anyway! xo
Thanks very much! It is a strange old system but plenty of people love it especially in Europe. I'm still not completely sold on it but do enjoy the magic of plotting and then actually coming up with something that resembles a garment at the end 🤣. Let me know if you ever venture into it. Thanks for watching x
Thanks Annette. That's the thing about Lutterloh, there are no sizes so I suppose I would have to guess and use a lower measurement for the upper bust. Worth a try though! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Carole, this looks like an amazing system. Do you find that your garments have a better fit with this system compared to the big 4 patterns? It seems so. Very cute top! Looks great on you. 🥰
Hi Grace, it is a very strange system to be honest and I haven't really done a pattern that is closely fitted so I can't say really whether the result is better. It is meant to be, but I am not convinced! A lot of people on Lutterloh forums seem to still have to do a lot of adjusting that's for sure! Thanks for watching and your kind comments 😊🧵
Love your top. I might just get that supplement for the top pattern - I do have the kit and a few extra supplements but to be honest, have never made any of the patterns. You and Kris have both inspired me. Thank you.
Well I know I am happy that we have inspired you to give it a go and Kris will be as well! I tend to always do the easy patterns and this definitely was, no sleeves or anything. Let me know if you try it! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
OK how do you do it? If I saw that top on a hanger I'd go right by it, too boxy, too shapeless. And then you put it on and all of a sudden it comes to life - it has shape, it has movement, it looks amazing. I am mystified. Are you magic? xoxoxoxox
Oh Jen that did make me laugh! The mystical world of Lutterloh 🤣. You need to get your system out and give it a go!!! You are just so kind in your comments 💕😘💕
Hi there, Love your top. I will not get a chance to use my Lutterloh until Christmas, but am watching for tips and tricks. I'm like you with the small shoulders, but I am normally a C Cup. May I ask if you would use your upper bust measurement and then do a bust adjustment for a fitted top? Thanks!
Hi there and thank you. The thing that foxes me with the Lutterloh system as you supposedly only need two measurements for a perfect fit. I have in the past used upper bust for the shoulder area, then normal bust for the rest. I don't think I have done a fitted top yet and don't have to do FBA's on anything I make from printed patterns even though I am a D cup. I can't really answer your question really but if you are on the Lutterloh facebook site there is so much info on there and people that know a lot more about it than me! Good luck!
Hi Jenny, thanks so much for your comment. I took the upper bust measurement which I am led to believe is where you measure under the arms and around your chest not bust. Hope that helps or search on the web for how to do an 'Upper Bust Measurement'. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thanks Michelle. I will say, I've never really tried a very fitted garment so can't answer that question really! I like using it every now and again as it's fun to do but I do LOVE my Big 4 patterns 🤣. Have a wonderful week xxx😘
Forgot to ask: On the Lutterloh system, do you have to include seam allowances after you connect the dot and draw the pattern pieces, or are seam allowances already factored in? I think I see seam allowances on your pattern pieces. Did you add those on after drawing out the pattern? (Hope my questions makes sense.) 😊 The Big 4 pattern companies include seam allowances on their pattern pieces, and some indies do not. Knowing my luck, I'd forget to factor them in when cutting my fabric. 😧
You are right Nancy, you do indeed add the seam allowance afterwards where it is needed. The beauty is of course, you can choose whatever size allowance you prefer! I have a 1.5cm seam allowance ruler/french curve I use to do mine 😊🧵
Beautiful top!
Thank you very much Karen! 😊🧵

Wonderful work. I love Lutteroth system, with a few changes checking my own mesurements my projets fit me perfectly. Greetings from Mexico
Carole, your Lutterloh top is absolutely beautiful. The fit looks perfect, and you wear the top well. Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh thank you Carol, the fabric certainly helped make it look better! I have a nice evening top now 😊🧵
Love that type of sleeves (if that’s what you call them 😊) and the loose fitting style, it fascinates me how you get a pattern out of some numbers. Beautiful

Your top came out beautiful Carole!! Love everything about it and it looks great on you!!
Thank you so much, I was so happy that it came out ok as I was worried it would be too big. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
I was interested in the sewing system. I had bought it in 2011 and it seemed like the miracle system after the man showed what all you could do with it in a class. Truly a beautiful blouse!
Thank you very much, that was such a fun collab 😊🧵
Beautiful top, I love that fabric! Both the fabric and pattern have a very Asian vibe. Looks great with those pants too. Definitely my style. ❤️
Thank you very much, you are right about the fabric! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😊🧵
Thank you for this Lutterloh video. ❤️
It was a fun video and collab to do. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Love the top, beautiful fabric choice,,,I use the Lutterloh system quite often,,I find it to be very accurate.. the options are endless…
Thanks very much Pamela. I have worn that top a few times whilst on holiday recently. I always love to hear from fellow Lutterloh -ites and hear their successes. Thanks again 🧵😊
Your Lutterloh top turned out great! It still amazes me how you take your measurements and make your own pattern. Good job!!
Thanks Deb, it is quite a mammoth task to start with but you get such a sense of achievement when...it works!!! 😊🧵xx
Love your top. The placket makes it so cute. Perfect fabric for this project.
Thank you, that fabric as you say was great for the top and makes you realise why we need fabric stashes!! 😊🧵
Really like your top. The ruching reminds me of a "French tuck". Also, love the fabric.
Thank you! You are right, it does look exactly like that. I was so glad it worked as I didn't want to waste that lovely fabric. 😊🧵
The top turned out very nice, I like the drawstring idea, looks cute. I’m putting that in my ideas list….!! I don’t have the Lutterloh system, I have Sure Fit Designs, but don’t use it enough.

@@socarole66 I did see her dress and it’s awesome! I really can’t wrap my head around this system - it’s like magic! 😂
I love your top so much. It’s making me decide to look more into the lutterloh patterns. Love the fabric choice too.
Thank you so much, Lutterloh is an interesting concept and I am fortunate that I got mine for free! Not having instructions is the main drawback for most people. Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Beautiful top, Carole, it looks great on you.
Thanks Sue so much! 😊🧵
Hey Carole, lovely top, I agree the placket could do with being up to the waist, however, you still have a lovely flattering top. Great vlog. xx
Thanks Jen, the placket was quite small really wasn't it but I may actually take it off and make a bigger one. That kind of job won't take too long but I bet its months before I actually do it 😆. Thanks for watching xx

Good pattern, beautiful sewing and such lovely fabric.
Thank you so much! Yes wasn't the fabric fabulous, so glad I got around to using it. 😊🧵
Lutterloh is rather intriguing! Your top is great, love the fabric. I'm thinking that placket detail could be added to any top that needed a little bit of interest.

Love the top and the fabric. well done. Cheers Mary
Thank you! Kris and I did chose wonderful fabric for both our projects. 😊🧵
Lovely fabric. I agree with you: the longer drawstring casing would be nice and would add a bit more shaping.
Thank you Carol. I think I am going to take that placket off and replace it with a longer one if I can do that without damaging the fabric. As you say, it will add a bit more shape. Thanks so much for watching 🧵😊

Lovely Carole, it might work in a knit fabric, too, in a smaller size.
Thanks Annette. That's the thing about Lutterloh, there are no sizes so I suppose I would have to guess and use a lower measurement for the upper bust. Worth a try though! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Love the top it looks lovely on. I think my mum has the system you used I remember it from when I was younger I’m going to have to ask her now 😂 x
Thank you, oh yes you need to have a go at this system if you can. It is very mystical!!! 😊🧵

Thank you! Kris from Sew Notes made a wonderful dress, I was very envious of it! Thanks for watching 🧵😊

I love your top! Just might give Lutterloh a go!

Love it!
Thank you!!! 😊🧵

Beautiful creation- looks great on you and love the fabric design… thank you for sharing!

Hello Carole, what tracing paper do you use?
Hi there, thanks for watching. I use the Prym stuff which is grided. I normally get it from Amazon. It comes in a 1mx10m roll. Hope that helps 🧵😊
