I believe that this train is to be kept at Eastleigh, and is to run all over the Southern Region, not just between London and Brighton..

Very interesting video and great to see the process on this fantastic project. I can't wait to see the Brighton Belle back on the main line again!

A breathtaking project! It seems to me that this is the way to go - combining the best of the past with modern requirements. In fact, if it had never been taken out of service, this must be what it would look like with all the updates it would have collected along the way. A detail that surprised me was the use of soldered plumbing fittings. They aren't usually recommended in a vibrating environment if they can be avoided, but they certainly save money.

Very nice, look forward to seeing the BB once completed but also travelling on it. As a young lad I do remember seeing the Belle going through Clapham Junction, along with Southern's other named Pullman train the Bournemouth Belle - a lovely sight. As an observation, why are the glass units not double glazed, as much as there is heating, it won't stop condensation on the inside of the windows in the winter and also why no window side arm rest in the second class cars, they may have not been fitted in the original cars but as this is a major restoration with modifications, for added comfort I would have thought this would have been considered.

They've said in a post from last year that they will keep things "low-key" as to not upset fundraisers with false deadlines as they have in the past. This means that they are currently around the testing phase in secret until they have confirmation on all that's necessary, such as approvals and any amendments needed upon further review. I'm just as anxious as you though waiting for this. Cannot wait!!

We were hoping to have her at brighton, earlier in the year, but Covid put the brakes on that.
    Not long now though.

I saw an online article about a pub somewhere that had a Pullman carriage attached as a dining area and that was called "Hazel". I particularly noticed as I was looking to see if my namesake car still existed and it did. Is your Hazel that one or another with a great name? It will be a great day when the Belle takes to the rails again.

fantastic.well done to everyone. I can remember the brighton belle in the 1960s as I lived in sussex. BR should have preserved one set and not let in go to ruin. my leaflet says farewell to the brighton belle, little did I know it was going to hell and back, anyway at least some kind people have saved it,thanks for that. its a pity that electric loco 2003 was not saved for preservation yet another BR mistake.oh well back to my Hornby brighton belle.
